The new flickr, good and bad feedback it seems with more on the negative is what I'm hearing. I don't mind the new look but if you're going to make this big of a change then make sure you do it properly. The new interface has a lot of quirks still. It seems like only the front end got a major overhaul but the backend is still the old flickr.

And it appears not all know about the new pricing model. What I cannot fully understand yet is why I was charged $24.95 recently, which is the same amount I've been paying since 2008 for a year of Flickr Pro Account. According to the help pages there are no more Flickr Pro accounts but it seems like my account is still PRO. I don't mind the free account if I have to follow the new pricing model, which is quite stupid in my own opinion. Not sure how they came up with that, unless they just want the majority to go free. Can anyone shed some light on this please? Thanks.

Not the best video but John demonstrating some basic funtions for me when i went to visit him at the backend of last year.

Glorious sound of the V10's high-revving as the tires spun. Everyone was losing the backend putting the power down to 620hp while exiting Oak Tree. Critical to get a good launch off this corner because of how long the back straight is. Most every car in the field spun here once.

I have been off of the flickr grid these past few days in painful preparation to move to a new computer, primarily I have been reorganizing my photo libraries, a task 5 years overdue. Five minutes of thought at the outset would have freed hours on the backend. Bob Barker stressed to his viewers to have their pets spade or neutered. I urge fellow photographers, think about file management.

Now the exercise was not without benefit. I stumbled onto so many shots lost or forgotten (above) in the "forgotten if not shot last week" syndrome we can fall victim too. Also, I learned I shoot too much. Or did. Quantity is no longer a dish I wish to consume. And I do not think I care to bracket as much anymore, a well exposed, light right shot wins most of the time. A few hours, a few nuggets... ready for the new machine.

The Reserve pinot comes off 77 percent estate vineyards in Lakeshore, with the remainder coming from the Naramata Bench. It spends a generous 11 months in French oak and is currently projecting a thin, tight profile laced with red fruits and smooth, smoky tannins. I love the restraint here, allowing the red fruit and dried herbs to carry the backend finishing little less fat and drier than most. Pork chops, mushrooms or soft cheeses work here. It should improve further in the bottle if you can wait.

It is with great sadness that ive learned tonight that John Steel from Draycott near Derby has passed away after a recent Illness and a Long stay in Hospital.

I still remember the great day he delivered the Albion Crane i bought off him and he drove it from his base to our yard in Huddersfield at the backend of 2022 in cold weather and i tracked his progress on my phone.

He really wanted it to go to me and i visited him a few times until the day came and he was always easy going and full of fun and he put me at ease after a few brews as i was not 100% about about buying a crane and using it but he said he would always still be on hand to give us some help and advise anytime and i kept in touch with him regular.

A very Genuine Man and salt of the earth!

R.I.P John.

Loco in 1/43 scale (9w), propelled by 2 PF train motors, with full front and backend lighting (4 PF LED sets, 8 lights overall).

The little sister of the GP38-2 (4 studs shorter). Since the TLG online shop (at least in Germany) doesn’t sell any train motors for several weeks now (same for servo motors and L motors) I had to take the second motor from another train which is still in the making. I really hope that they get their delivery problems fixed soon.

You may think she’s just a shrinked version of her bigger sister, but that’s not the case - a lot of details were tried on this one first (like the truck-mounted couplers or the removable cabin roof) - both locos have been finished at the same time recently.

The most important reason to choose this model was that I didn’t want to build moving radiators again like on the GP38-2. Plus I was thinking that maybe a shorter loco would be more suitable for shunting purposes, especially regarding the hump. However, I was proven wrong - the GP38-2 is actually working nicely on the hump, too, as you may spot in the video.

Of course it would have been nice to build a completely different loco (and there are still some ideas), however, that would have taken much more time, plus both GPs look quite nice together, even if such a combination is rather unusual, I guess - in a yard you’d rather use 2 locos of the exact same type. But as said, I don’t know very much of this kind of stuff.

Main point here is the lighting - I wanted to have front and back lighting on this one so that the loco may move in “long hood forward” mode, too. As I’ve been told, some people think that’s the proper direction anyway. I must admit that I don’t know exactly if the lights on an American loco are on all the time regardless of the loco’s direction - however, switching them would probably be too complicated.

Some specs:

Scale: 1/43

Length (platform): 46 studs

Length over couplers: 39 cm

Width (platform): 9 studs

Weight (with 4 batteries and 2 aluminum dummies): 972 g

A belated happy new year. I'm now returning to the images from the backend of last year and some way before that. I hope to catch up with your work over the coming weeks.

Daily Photo - Hearst Castle in San Simeon

Did you know that Hearst Castle is only a few hours north of LA? If you ever end up in LA for a trip, be sure to set aside a few hours for a trip up to see this place. After you get out of the LA city-scape-area, the terrain totally changes - so does the "feeling".

Towards the end of the day, all the tourists had left. I had an escort with me for most of the day. This gentleman was a retired LAPD officer who spends a few days per week working up at Hearst Castle. There are several of these guys and gals that help keep the place secure. They take the job pretty seriously, as you would expect from any LAPD-type. After a few hours, I was able to wear them down with humor. I found they responded very well to anti-lawyer humor, btw. So keep that one in mind in case you ever get in a pinch.

Everyone there was extremely nice, and I loved the opportunity to capture Hearst as it is meant to be captured. I kept returning to this fountain time and time again -- until the skies and light was just right...

Any Problems with New Server?

We've recently moved over the entire website to the Rackspace Cloud. This was done because our traffic is growing like crazy, and we wanted things to be nice and speedy for everyone. Also, from time to time, Twitter can cause big surges in traffic that brought the whole thing to a grinding halt.

Let me know if you see anything is awry. It's hard for me to test anything, and there are always niggling little problems... Like, for example, I found out that Firefox didn't work because of some silly Facebook <iframe> code that still broke it even though it was commented out!

I'll put together a full review on Rackspace soon enough... along with a whole list of all the backend stuff that keeps the site humming along. I know we have lots of technical people that come to the site, and we all like geeking out about the specs and "how things work"!

Just on case anybody was wondering if Daisy looks as good from behind in this slinky little dress. Hint: The answer is the antonym of "no". 😉

Tanat Valley operate four double deck vehicles, three of which are Optare Spectras. Taking care of being a little long in the tooth.

I have been guilty of not frequenting your streams for that I apologize! I have just been held up a bit and not able to spend the time I would like on flickr..but I promise I will be regular starting tomorrow :)

I have been living in Chennai for as long as I have been alive...yet I have never once made it to this place..This is called the Broken Bridge which is situated north of the Besant Nagar beach...

The bridge was built to facilitate the movement of fishermen from Santhome beach to Elliot's beach over the mouth of the Adyar river. The bridge spans across the Adyar estuary bordering the backend of the Theosophical Society. The bridge partly collapsed after due to strong currents of the river during a particular monsoon, and has never been repaired.

The Broken Bridge has become a popular spot to view the sunset and has been attracting drinkers. The area is generally considered unsafe after dark due to its proximity to fishing hamlets and lack of road access...

On our way back, we also happened to stumble upon the turtle hatchery where they hatch the Olive Ridley Turtles which are currently considered endangered...It was a total coincidence that we were in the exact spot when that happened...The baby turtles were being egged on to make it to the ocean...it was a totally new experience to say the least...

Less bulky frontend with bumper, thinner, more elegant rockers, more fluent backend (see detail pic).

Regarding the rockers: In fact I re-installed the row of cheese slopes of the model but omitted one layer above them to get a more typical ground clearance (which was reduced considerably due to the smaller wheels).

Ive not long ago extracted my second tanker that has been in hybernation all last year and ive had to pull most of my vehicles outside to get it out and it ran and drove with no issues at all.

Im really looking forward to taking it on the Cheshire Run and the AEC Rally this year for starters, and the Octopus will now take its place until the backend of this year.

Next weekend the AEC MK5 Mammoth Major will be fully inspected, full grease around (Takes Forever ha ha) and all brakes adjusted and other safety checks and a good road test.

Lamnamkok N.P., Chiang Rai, Thailand

Family : Lycaenidae

Subfamily : Theclinae

Species : Cigaritis seliga

This forest dweller is found in Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, peninsular Malaysia, and Borneo. The genus to which it belongs is instantly recognisable from the distinctive pattern of red-bordered silvery stripes on the underside. If you look quickly at the photo above you will find that the pattern draws your eye towards the tornus of the butterfly and this is one of nature's clever tricks to divert predators away from the butterfly's head, and towards its backend. The orange tornal spot, and the white-tipped tails which are wiggled like antennae when the butterfly is at rest, add further to the back-to-front illusion. A predator intending to attack a butterfly will always try to anticipate the direction in which it will try to escape. They therefore aim their attack just ahead of what they believe to be the head of the insect, but the back-to front illusion fools them into aiming at the tail, allowing the butterfly to make it's escape in the opposite direction.

This beautiful but uncommon species is quite small, despite its name, and has a wingspan of 25-33mm. They are usually seen perched on sunlit foliage well above the ground but occassionally males will come down to ground level to 'puddle' for minerals on patches of damp ground. When at rest or puddling they usually have their wings closed, hiding the rather dull and uninteresting upperside.

All my insect pics are single, handheld shots of live insects.

Thanks to everyone who continue to view, comment, and fav my pics. It really is very much appreciated.

Another Beer Co. in New Westminster, BC has released a new canned beer called Tilt or Die. This IPA was brewed with 2-Row, flaked oats, wheat, and chit malts, and hopped with Hopsteiner Lotus, Yakima Chief Hops Citra, and Centennial.

They say it has big notes of orange, vanilla, pineapple and tropical citrus. It is soft up front with a clean bitterness on the backend.

United Airlines 747-400, N127UA, sits at Sydney International Terminal.

Tuesday 13th April 2010.

One of the most powerful patrol cars of its day. The 24v Senator was some machine, but had to be given respect as it was extremely quick off its mark for a big car, but it could get to it's cornering limits as a result with the 'backend' stepping out big time.
