Recently had the pleasure to look back at some forgotten images and discovered this, taken backend of 2019 at Rydal Waters.
Just testing out a new purchase, a Nikon 80-400mm AFS lens. I had been wanting this lens since it was introduced back in 2013, but couldn't justify the price then so since I worked a stupid amount of OT the last couple of weeks I found a used copy.
I am slowly getting set up for a "Bucket List" Trip in the (sorta) near future in which I needed a longer lens than I currently owned. So, now I think I am set for everything related to capture of the images, now it's time to get ready to upgrade my backend equipment.
**side note.. it absolutely FROSTS MY ARSE on how fast devices (computers/tablets) are outdated today. As much as I love Adobe I am frustrated that I need to update my iMac already because they are so dependent on RAM. I really do miss the old days of actually buying a program and updating it when you were good and damn ready.

Had a little excitement this afternoon. Shortly after returning home from running some errands, I glanced out the basement window and saw what looked like the backend of a large black cat in the middle of the yard - eating something!
Grabbed my camera and raced up to the sunroom for a better look and to catch that darn cat red handed! To my surprise it was this very plump Raccoon foraging around for the nuts tossed out for the squirrels!
Took a few shots through the sunroom window, and then went to tell my sister we had a visitor, so she could see it, too!

A bit of plagiarism here from one of my favourite bands for the title, anyone care to guess the artist and song??
This is a picture that I’ve been meaning to take for a long time, but ‘Tower Bridge’ is about a 45 minute walk from where I work and I’m not a big fan of the London underground (although judging by some of my contacts photos of the tunnels and such like I should reacquaint myself with it ;-)), however about a month ago I decide to bite the bullet and take a trip there after work.
I took a two shots of light trails one was from the north bank and the other from the south bank; the one that’s been posted is from the south bank.
I tried a few exposures but wanted to do a really long exposure mainly so I could remove the people from the picture (this was during the backend of rush hour), so I used a ‘Lightcraft Workshop ND500’; filters have been causing of a little debate on one of my contacts photos. I think that the ‘LCW ND500’ is very good value for money and until I can find some cash for a better filter it fills the void nicely.
Then main reason why I posted this shot and not the one from the north bank was because of the leaf on the floor; I know that it’s small detail but I kind of like it…….. the simple things eh!!!!
My entry into the recoding images group, theme night time
****As a side note the LCW ND500 claims not to cause any colour cast........ but I've read that it can cause pictures to appear cold (a bias towards blue), and one of adjustments that I had to make in pp on this was to shift the white balance as the image was a little cold, but this was minimal!

888DUK was a Guy Arab V demonstrator vehicle built by Guy Motors in 1963. Its unusual looking Strachan built body was a very angular affair (particularly at the backend), and not very aesthetic to the eye. Why Guy Motors (Europe) chose this austere body style remains a mystery, but the company was not in a very good financial position at the time?
Although the bus looked to be white, it was in fact painted into a very pale grey colour with dark green bands.
888DUK was demonstrated to a number of operators in the early 1960s, including Wolverhampton, Halifax and Southdown.
From peoples jottings, it would appear that the Guy Arab was unpopular with many bus crews during its life as a demonstration bus. The sliding platform door wasn’t liked by some, nor was the bus's apparent jerky semi-automatic transmission.
Wolverhampton Corporation who went on to order Guy Arab Vs in numbers, only used 888DUK on demonstration service for one day in December 1963, presumably before it was moved on elsewhere. By that time, Wolverhampton was receiving their first batch of 72-seater Weymann bodied Guy Arab Vs to displace trolleybuses.
888DUK returned to Wolverhampton again in February 1965 for about a week. Its visit was likely to have been the precursor to the Transport Department buying a batch of Strachan bodied Guy Arab Vs that same year. A poor decision in terms of an investment, as the bodies were of inferior quality, suffering structural failings after a few short years. In 1966/67, WCT went on to buy more Strachan bodied Guy Arabs, some of which only gave 5-years service.
Cut a long story short, 888DUK, eventually ended up being purchased by independent, Harper Brothers of Heath Hayes, Staffordshire in circa 1966.
The bus became known by Harper crews as the ‘Old Grey Mare’. 888DUK was eventually painted into Harper’s pale green and cream livery, but the nick name stuck. The vehicle lasted until October 1974, when Harper’s sold out their bus operations to the Midland Red, who immediately withdrew the bus from service and disposed of it.
The picture shows 888DUK in a very presentable condition on Cannock Bus station c1966. 888DUK may have been on loan to Harpers, or is seen just after it had been purchased by them.

A fun find in a ladies loo. The doors and walls are all chalk boards and chalk is supplied. Visitors to the loo are encouraged to leave their mark. Looking at the back end of an elephant amused me:) It reminded me of the old music hall song that I remember my Auntie Doreen singing when I was a kid. Here it is sung by actor Jeremy Irons www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsNIaHgH4do The song probably dates around 1930.
I had one of these but mine was seafoam blue with cream top.. Loved that car except when driving on the high level bridge over the shipping channel in Corpus Christi, TX.. The wind would catch under the fins in the back and it felt like the backend was losing traction.. Really unusual feeling..

BN 4001 is a steam boiler equipped Alco RS-2 for use in passenger service. By this point in time, the boiler is merely added ballast as the passenger days are quickly winding down and the 4001 will finish what ime it has remaining in it's BN career in freight service.

On a glorious California day in March 1997 Amador Central Baldwin #10 has been relegated to the stand by locomotive as it Basques in the warm sunshine amidst the blooming trees, having recently been replaced by a pair of SW1200s, the AMC 10 will live to fight on for a few more years after the EMDs leave and the railroad is briefly reborn under the Amador Foothills name.

Knowing about the moderate risk of severe storms on the eastern side of Colorado and the western side of Nebraska, I had planned out the day perfectly to intercept the back side of the cells about 4pm Mountain time.
Now into Yuma County Colorado, this was when all the action began. Tornado warning was in effect just a few miles north of Hwy 34 and I had a good sight on the backend of this developing severe storm.
From Fort Morgan Colorado via Hwy 34/6 back to Nebraska was my route back behind the developing cells. To honestly say... I wasn't disappointed. The open cloudscapes of Colorado are a photographers dream.

Just on case anybody was wondering if Daisy looks as good from behind in this slinky little dress. Hint: The answer is the antonym of "no". 😉
This Optare Solo SR is one of three in the fleet that were new to the company. Here we find it on the once a day diversion into Bryn Melyn section of Llynclys, whilst operating a 72 Oswestry to Llanfyliin. This diagram these day is worked off the backend of the Oswestry Town Service and often sees decker operation and the usual driver at the helm, but on Good Friday 2019 a smaller bus is utilised.
