Alright, I don't know why but I love this picture!
Last night we had an amazing party with the Photography Society. The theme was steampunk, victorian style and we were supposed to take photos in the sepia mode so that it looks antique and vintagey.
All the costumes were very creative and beautiful and we went to some nice, old pubs in Lancaster.
Ben, the soc's president, was helping Alissa to fix her amazing, self-made goggles here.

A crop of a panorama shot of Ryoji Ikeda's installation The Transfinite at the Park Avenue Armory. I knew I couldn't capture the experience with single frame photos, so I tried some hdrs, which didn't work at all, and finally tried essentially bludgeoning my panorama stitchers into doing it for me. The chopped up results are marvelous.
The photos are massively dissimilar to most of the existing photos of the piece, since they are composited out of many discrete moments of the installation, rather than a moment in time. The installation is massive, and difficult to comprehend, a multisensory experience of audio, video, and architecture.

Going through my old photos I found this one from a number of years ago that was accepted by a stock agency. It never sold which confirmed what I already knew, the image is cute but far from commercially useful.
Somehow managed to get sunburned today...almost impressive apart from the cancer giving quality of it! I am a bit of a slave to the sun though...currently on my reading week and struggling to stay inside while the sun stays out...
This was taken a week ago when we had some brilliant skies, the dust kicked up from all the spring farming activity on the dry land enhanced the golden hours a little and produced lots of rays when the sun went behind clouds :)
Looking at the back side of Frank Gehry's house in Santa Monica, CA. Urban architecture legend has it that Gehry couldn't find any contractors in Los Angeles that could make clean joints meet, so he threw out the expensive materials and neat joinery and went with this type of architecture.
Straps are angled perfectly and not too long nor short. Padded back as well!

My new custom Freight backpack from Travis Poh at Freight Baggage.
I've been using an Ortlieb for a while (a separated collarbone made me abandon single strap messenger bags), which I love but there are a few shortcomings. I wanted something that wasn't as loud (the Ortlieb is bright red) and something shorter and higher on my back (the Ortlieb is also tall and the bottom of the bag sits at my waist).
I'd heard nothing but good things about the bags Travis was making specifically his backpacks. I got a chance to try one out in SF (thanks to Judah's) and fell in love with how utilitarian they were -- driven by function then form.
Looking back to June 1987 and a Southampton Corporation Routemaster probably was the best way to travel,especially with a helpful conductor to assist you. Introduced to compete with the Solent Blue Line the RMs took fleet numbers following on from Southampton's Regents, the last of which was 402 delivered new in 1967!
