The best I got of this pair of Red-back Kingfishers that appear to be attempting to nest again this year in Canberra. I think last year the creek caved in around their hollow, leaving the nest exposed.
Since this doesn't show the red back, there's another shot below.

Merl is all ready to go back to school! She's had a great summer boating with her brother Lir, but she knows that studying is important, too. She bought her new textbooks and is very excited to start learning about marine biology.

I've been gone for a while, well not gone but really busy, I've mostly been filming for the movie I'm making but I got the chance to take some photos instead today.

Vancouver Centennials finally doing well. They had a slow start.
Below filipendula and mint.
The mint was in the garden when I moved in, not sure I could get rid of it if I wanted to. It's a wintergreen variety, tasty both fresh and dried.
I haven't bought mint in 28 years
