Episcopal worship in Middleway, West Virginia, traces its origins back to 1825 when rectors of Norborne Parish, seated in nearby Bunker Hill, began holding services in the town. In 1836, Rev. Alexander Jones of Charles Town's Zion Church, began holding regular services in the old Methodist Church. In 1851, under the direction of Rev. Charles M. Calaway, the present Grace Church was constructed. Representing a typical mid-19th century low-church plan, the rectangular nave with gallery over the entrance features a centered vesting room or sacristy at the rear. Grace Church is constructed in Gothic Revival Style with brick laid in five-to-one common bond. Though the church shifted parishes throughout the early 19th century, in 1888, Nelson Parish, including Grace Church, St. Bartholomew's Church in Leetown, and the Church of the Holy Spirit in Summit Point, was created.
The town of Middleway was settled in the early-18th century on land granted by Lord Farifax. Grist and Hemp Mills, established in the 1730s enabled the growth of the settlement. By the time of the Revolutionary War, the village was formally laid out and was called Smithfield. That name was changed in 1807 when the post office was created and was named Middleway as there was already a Smithfield, Virginia. With its mills and several cottage industries, the town thrived in the early 19th century, leading to construction of many of its significant houses. However, when the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad bypassed the village in 1830s, the town settled into a stagnation from which it has never really emerged. The town remains today a remarkably well-preserved early 19th century rural village, protected by a historic district which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The back porches on three-deckers on L Street in South Boston. Note the replacement railing on the top porch. It's a mismatch in color and design.

It's good to see Riley & McCormick back downtown again, after they closed their previous downtown store seven months ago... This is one of the most historic western wear stores in Calgary, dating back to 1901 through various stores over the years... I borrow the title from the recent song of Taylor Swift just to remind myself to live full each day, no regrets, no "what if" and whenever I look back, they are all happiness and joys.

Unfortunately, another trip to the hospital last night... fortunately, this one was not multi-day. Also, this time I had the experience to tell them to put the wrist band and IV in my left hand, so my right hand was free to operate the camera. (Another advantage of the GM1... I didn't even remember it was in my coat pocket when I left the house).
