Dinosaurs Need Chiropractors Too (4118):
These concrete dinosaurs were the beginning of a miniature golf course in the Mojave Desert. Begun in the early '70s by Lonnie Coffman with the help of Air Force serviceman Gregory Wicker, the project was abandoned. But the concrete dinosaurs remain. My friend Dave Dasinger and I came here on a warm summer night.
I illuminated the dinosaurs with a hand-held ProtoMachines LED flashlight, working slightly quicker than usual to keep the sky dark to create extra contrast between that and the dinos. All color light work was done while the camera shutter was open, and is not a post-processing creation. You are encouraged to "share" on FB if you are wish. Thanks!

Late Night at the Jack Cass Saloon (4315)
Cowboy up! Pioneertown, California began as a Wild West motion picture set in the 1940s, with Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and others among the original developers and investors. The set was designed for the actors to live while using their homes in the movie. The Cisco Kid and many other Westerns were filmed here. Saloons, jails, banks, all the good stuff you need for a Western town.
This is a real photo taken at night. This evening, everything was illuminated by a big bright moon, an almost full moon, almost bright enough to read a book. And setting my tripod-mounted camera to a long exposure made the camera much more sensitive to light than our eyes on this already bright evening. This is why this photo seems brighter than what we might see at night. It is not due to post-processing. The moon, which reflects light from the sun, also makes the sky bluer, and when the photo is a long exposure photo, the sky will appear brighter, making the blue more apparent. I illuminated the building with a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 flashlight while the camera shutter was open. This is not a post-processing creation. No pixels were harmed during the creation of this photo. :D
I am fascinated with how a single long exposure photo can show movements and the cumulative effects of light in a single image, and fascinated with the stories and history that these locations hold. Thank you for reading this and looking at the image. -Ken

Saw some seagulls at the beach. Was able to get close to one without it flying away and took this shot. Been trying out a few pictures the last few days with this Matte editing look, and I think this one turned out great.

This here is probably my favourite image captured in Italy, the rough sea contrasting with the warm colours of the sky creates a dream-like look.
A snowstorm is currently painting the landscape white. I genuinely could barely see when I took this photo, so I composed it without looking through the camera. Muscle memory saved the shot.

He was a big man, says the size of his shoes
on a pile of broken dishes by the house;
a tall man too, says the length of the bed
in an upstairs room; and a good, God-fearing man,
says the Bible with a broken back
on the floor below the window, dusty with sun;
but not a man for farming, say the fields
cluttered with boulders and the leaky barn.
A woman lived with him, says the bedroom wall
papered with lilacs and the kitchen shelves
covered with oilcloth, and they had a child,
says the sandbox made from a tractor tire.
Money was scarce, say the jars of plum preserves
and canned tomatoes sealed in the cellar hole.
And the winters cold, say the rags in the window frames.
It was lonely here, says the narrow country road.
Something went wrong, says the empty house
in the weed-choked yard. Stones in the fields
say he was not a farmer; the still-sealed jars
in the cellar say she left in a nervous haste.
And the child? Its toys are strewn in the yard
like branches after a storm—a rubber cow,
a rusty tractor with a broken plow,
a doll in overalls. Something went wrong, they say.
