EARTH DAY!
Leh, Ladakh is the highest spot on the planet that I've been to so far. At 3,500m above sea level, the landscape, the weather, the sights are a poetry of extremities. You could be walking in the shade with with a shiver and as you take 1 step into the sunlight, you begin to break a sweat. I have some really amusing memories of moments where we're walking through partial sun light. The face is being roasted and the body, which is in the shade is cramping up with the cold, despite the layers of warm winter wear. Here, when the sun shines onto the peaks, it reflects off the snow caps making them look like mountains of gold! Where there is shade, it looks like a completely different place that has been plucked out of the shadow lands and put there, misty, frigid and kissed by the Ice Queen.

I visited Hamilton today and was quite impressed by its many points of interest. For me, this 121 ft waterfall known as the Devil's Punch Bowl was the highlight.

I took a similar photo earlier in the year. But it wasn't a picture of the day for the project and the fogginess gave it a drastically different look.
I drove by Mahoney Lake. The water is not purple yet, but the sunset gave it nice pink and orange tones.

Funny story: @craigsbeds and I were at Central Park last night shooting the Bow Bridge. Afterwards, we were hungry and got into a cab. As I was getting into the cab my pants ripped from the crotch area down to my leg! Just my luck. I was starving so I went to a diner just like that. Craig is such a good friend that he offered to go back to his apartment and get pants for me. But I took a cab home. Give this good man @craigsbeds a follow, will ya? This is one of the funniest/most embarrassing experiences of my life. Anyway, this is what a 10 minute long exposure looks like!

Cowboy up! Pioneertown, California began as a Wild West motion picture set in the 1940s, with Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and others among the original developers and investors. The set was designed for the actors to live while using their homes in the movie. The Cisco Kid and many other Westerns were filmed here. Saloons, jails, banks, all the good stuff you need for a Western town. I illuminated the scene while the camera shutter was open with a hand-held Protomachines LED2 flashlight. The circular star trails were created by the very long total exposure, created by the rotation of the earth. Nikon D610/14-24mm f/2.8. 2016-07-19 02:47. Each individual photo was 30s f/8 ISO 1000 and were stacked to reduce noise and create the 29 minute overall exposure.
