November y still full of color and beauty here in PA. Trees are showing spectacular colors, and seeing them through the window is just not enough! Today for the first time we had a mix of rain and snow, which didn't stopped me to go out with my camera, and the jacket today was not optional.

Birds are coming to eat more often than before, and the very cute Junco has returned to spend the winter in this area, as well as the Winter Sparrows. Every time a new season starts I hope to see a new bird, I will let you know if it happens :)

I'm not ready to experience the snowy weather yet, driving becomes a lot more difficult, but I'm certainly looking forward to enjoy the chimney, a blanket and a delicious cup of hot chocolate...

Photography is my passion, and nature photography is my favorite.

I have been in Explore for more that a hundred times, and it is an awesome experience to have your photos showcased in such a special way.

I'm in many groups, and I only add my photos to them if they are not private.

I thank your for coming today, for leaving a comment, and make a favorite of yours this photo, (if that is the case) thanks again!

The best part of this forum is the contacts and friends that I have made over the years, that have the same passion for this art that is called photography!

Hotel Europe is a 111 year old, six storey, flatiron style building, built on a pie shaped property, located at 43 Powell Street in Historical Gastown, Vancouver BC Canada.

The building was commissioned by hotelier Angelo Calori and built by Parr and Fee Architects.

Contractors had to be brought in from Cincinnati, Ohio for the necessary expertise; the Ferro-Concrete Construction Company began this project six years after constructing the first tall concrete building in the world.

Construction began in 1908 and the hotel was completed and opened in 1909.

It was the first reinforced concrete structure to be built in Canada and the earliest fireproof hotel in Western Canada.

For the first years, the hotel flourished as people arrived to Vancouver by Steamship and stayed at the hotel.

The ground floor was once a beer parlour and is now currently a store. Below this beer parlour was an underground saloon accessible by stairs from a sidewalk entrance.

The underground area, including the saloon is said to have extended under the sidewalks on both sides of the hotel. These extensions were known as “areaways,” a typical feature of buildings in the Gastown area. Areaways were used to load and unload freight through trap doors in the outside sidewalk.

The Hotel Europe’s areaways were eventually filled in and bricked up and the underground saloon is said to be now a storage basement.

A more luxurious, Vancouver hotel opened in 1919 and the guest traffic shifted to the new hotel. At sometime it was said that the Hotel Europe became a brothel.

This building was later renovated into suites and is currently an affordable housing complex.

Rumored haunted. It is believed there is one, possibly two ghosts residing in the Hotel Europe. The first ghost was reported in the early '80s by a contractor who had been working on some repairs alone in the cellar, near the bricked up areaway entrance. Supposedly, he had left the cellar briefly and when he returned he found his tools had been scattered all over the floor. He heard scratching noises coming from behind the brick wall (a wall said to have been previously filled in) and felt a bad presence. He grabbed his tools and fled. Also, reported was a man dressed in a black coat with a flat cap that appeared in the shop on the ground level. One evening in the early 2000's after the shop owner had closed the store, the owner saw a man/ghost clearly reflected in the convex security mirror at the top end of the store. She was surprised to see him as she was sure there were no customers left in the store when she locked up. When she went to investigate, there was nobody there. The man in the mirror had vanished. The owner was left shaken and fled the property. This man/ghost was reported to return again at a later date.

It is questioned if this was the same original ghost or indeed a second one.

Sunrise on November 1st of this past fall. Snow on autumn colors is such a treat.

Took a sunny afternoon walk through a forest path, enjoying the warm sun rays making their way through the trees and the splash of color the Maple Trees sport at the height of the autumn season!

Nebbia sull'Appennino: la nebbia si abbassa riempiendo le valli di bruma

So last Thursday (24th April, 2025) I was working for a client at Kurrajong Heights, near the Blue Mountains - in the far north-west of Sydney.

After work, rather than returning home straight away to the Hills District of Sydney, I instead drove further north-west up along the Bells Line Of Road, to Bilpin and the amazing Mount Toman Botanic Gardens.

Mount Tomah was not looking its pristine Autumn best in the very late afternoon on Thursday as it was overcast and I arrived too late to get the sun on the foliage. However, it did yield some interestint shots of the trees.

Heute nach einem Regen ging ich am Lech entlang durch den Wald, dabei gabs natürlich vor allem Wasser zu sehen....Überall tropfte es oder stand Wasser....

Went for a little walk this morning. Thought I'd might as well take my camera with me and luckily I came back with this.

Enjoy!

A sunny day with fabulous sunlight traversing through the trees and along the path.

Sognefjellveien is a wonderful road and the highest mountain pass road in Northern Europe. Not the first time for me, but I'm always amazed by its beauty:-)

Those halcyon days of autumn seem so long ago, though this photo was taken just yesterday. Today I drove with a couple of friends over a high mountain pass with a lot of snow coming down. What normally takes 4 hours took 6.5 as several times we could not move ahead because of traffic ahead, mainly big transport trucks sliding all over the road and not able to get up the hills. There were vehicles gone off the road all over the place too. It was a bit scary.

Fall sometimes feels like a fleeting season as we tend to measure the season by the fall colors. We have been hiking as much as we can when the leaves were in their prime. Then I realized I needed to put my garden to bed for the winter soon. Sure enough, as soon I was done with that, the snow came. It’s not enough to shovel yet but the branches on my bushes and trees are drooping with the heavy wet snow. I am glad we took the time to enjoy the fall fashion show. I must remember that it is still fall until December.
