Fantasy Faire 2023 - Szystrum Synod~ SOMNIUM AUTOMATON I am just a broken leaky stained teapot that reinvented myself as a machine... we all have our flaws but alas, now, I do not.
well, I was a Fae...then I fell into Szystrum Synod and died at the hands of technology so what magic was left in my organic body poured into a cracked porcelain teapot and I built myself bigger and stronger...now I seek the beasts that perverted my simplicity.
You must understand that porcelain is fragile you see,
so I do not like people getting too close
as I have special powers here in my orb so I am a marksman of great distance.
PROTECT AND DEFEND SZYSTRUM SYNOD! SYN SKORPETIS is a bit stronger and bulkier...but his brut strength defends the keen eye of my distant marksmanship skills. I don't really kill...I just put my enemies in a cosmic trance that they can only escape by the Mercy of my mood.
For an automaton with a purely binary processing unit, he sure does seem to exhibit some human-like behaviour.
🇬🇧 The upper section is dedicated to the automatons, which set themselves in motion at 12:30. On one floor, the four ages of life parade before death, symbolising the effect of time on man; on the upper floor, the twelve apostles parade before their Master, Christ, who blesses them, even though it is midday (or twelve o'clock). Above, the crowing of the cockerel reminds us three times of the denial of the apostle Saint Peter.

Automaton, so-called Triumphal Chariot with Minerva
Attributed to Achilles Langenbucher (1579-ca.1650)
Augsburg, ca.1620
Gilded copper alloy, silver, enamel, ebony, iron, tin.
Within this table automaton are two movements that drive the chariot itself, the figures and mechanical organ. The two horses move up and down, the small satyrs and the monkey on the back spin around. Minerva rolls her eyes and the organ plays polyphonic music.

First of all, Merry Christmas to all astro folks and friends out there.
This post is about my maiden voyage with the AG14 astrograph (Recently acquired Orion Optics large Newt)
After quite some time spent on a learning to colimate the the beast using the Catseye system and other miscellaneous odds and ends required for basic setup, such as, the need for an additional counterweight. The clouds finally cleared last night and I was able to run some test shots with the new Astrograph. This image is made of a stack 30 un-calibrated 1800 sec bin x 2 subs.
Imaging telescope: AG14 astrograph 1330mm F3.8
Imaging camera: 9.2mp Sony SX814
Mount: Software Bisque Paramount MX
Focus was manually set up once with a mask and the system ran uninterrupted for the night. I am waiting for a Baader steel drive to arrive which will allow full focus automaton.

Excerpt from the plaque:
Clock with figures and lift automatons
The automation clock is activated from the back of its base. After activation, the music plays, the figures move, and the pagoda lifts gradually. When the music ends, the figures stop and the pagoda downs to its original place.
The clockmaker moves his arm and head, moves his eyes, and turns his head to look both ways. The watchmaker is part of the carillon that chimes the time with bell music.

There it was. In front of me like an abandoned junk. I happened to just show up and left quietly. I realized that I found the place, which seems to have some sort of Rebel activity. This place (and it's surroundings) is Star Wars fan's dream come true!
This is the third picture in the series 'Action Figure Project'.
Their challenger was the enigmatic Monsieur LeClerc, a gentleman known for his inventive prowess and his love for elaborate mechanical contraptions. Monsieur LeClerc was a master of automatons, and his latest creation was a marvel that could play the violin with such soulful perfection it was said to bring the listener to tears.
The duel was to be held in the grand hall of the gentleman's club, a fitting arena where intellect and innovation were the swords with which one battled. The terms were elegantly simple: the invention that most captivated the assembly would be deemed the victor.
For the Clockwork Sibyls, this was more than just a contest; it was an opportunity to shift the paradigm of their time. They walked down the street, each step a silent but steadfast claim on the future they envisioned—a world where science and art danced in harmonious symphony, and where the work of a woman's mind was heralded as a masterpiece of the modern age.
As Lady Abigail and Lady Beatrice approached the stately doors of the gentleman's club, a murmur of anticipation rippled through the crowd. The contest was not merely a display of scientific prowess; it was a spectacle that had the entire city holding its breath.
Inside the grand hall, the air was thick with the scents of polished wood and the faintest hint of machine oil—a perfume for the inventors' soirée. Monsieur LeClerc took the stage first, unveiling his automaton with a flourish. The figure, dressed in the finery of a concert violinist, lifted its bow. As it played, the room fell into a reverent hush, the music weaving through the air like a tangible spell. The automaton's performance was flawless, soulful yet hauntingly mechanical.

This clock probably dates from the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795), because, as the museum notice indicates, it was made in Canton and not made in France like those offered by the Jesuits to his predecessor, the Kangxi Emperor.
* * *
I came back to Second Life after a long time away, and I felt lost... so much had changed. I changed. My list of friends is filled with people that are gone, and so many places I held dear disappeared. It was as if I was dancing alone...

DESIGNATION: Protector-018
NICKNAME: Galaar
RANK: ARC Lieutenant Grade 1
UNIT: Vornskr, First Regiment, "Bralor's First", 253rd Elite Clone Legion
Galaar could hear blaster fire from the corridor up ahead, DC-15s, Troopers, and something else, something bigger. Reaching into his belt the injured ARC trooper retrieved a experimental combat stim and injected it through a gap in his armor. Within seconds the mix of adrenaline and Mandalorian war stimulants relieved him of the pain from his broken ribs and other injuries sustained during his initial run in with the Dark Jedi. With his injuries temporarily taken care of Galaar stumbled forward rounding the corner only to find that the fighting had moved on. In it's wake lay several dead troopers, their armor blackened and smoldering from blaster impacts. A little ways past the troopers sat an ancient automaton, the troopers had managed to disable it, but at a high price. Taking a knee next to the destroyed droid Galaar began to examine the automaton, taking note of it's heavy armor and massive arm mounted laser cannon. The droid appeared to be an ancient security droid, likely employed by the temple's inhabitant to keep out unwanted guests. It looked like the troopers had brought it down with several hits from a PLX Launcher, turning and scanning the bodies of the fallen troopers Galaar spotted the missile launcher laying a couple feet away from the squads sergeant. Standing up Galaar moved over to the Sergeant and picked up PLX, it had four missiles left in the tube and no spare ammo, that meant that the squad must have used the other three missiles to destroy the security droid. Making a quick mental note of the droids potential durability, Galaar stood and said a quick Mandoa farewell, activated their beacon and headed past the destroyed droid and deeper into the temple. Utilizing the tracking skills taught to him by Vhonte Tervho back on Kamino, Galaar located the trail of another security droid and began to follow it, hopping it would lead him to either more troopers or the Dark Jedi. The droid's path lead Galaar into an ancient crypt, and it was here that the droids appeared to have originated their restraining bolts laying discarded on the ground and their charging stations sat empty. Venturing deeper into the crypt Galaar's scopes picked friendly forces two junctions ahead, they were engaging the droid Galaar had been tracking. Readying the launcher Galaar began to run, rounding the corner just as two troopers were cut down. Cursing Galaar switched to open comms.
"Friendly on your right! On my mark hit the deck!"
"Copy that"
Another trooper went down, his torso disappearing in a bright green flash.
"NOW!"
Swinging around the corner Galaar fired two missiles over the head of the last trooper, the rounds smashed into the droid, tearing it's gun arm and left leg from it's body. The droid fell to the ground disabled. The trooper stood and turned to face Galaar.
"Nice shot sir, good timing too, he almost had me"
"If only I was faster, could have saved your vode. These droids are tough, hopefully that was the last of them."
"Negative Sir. The Dark Jedi activated a small army of them after fled into the crypt. We might need a Jedi for this one."
"I agree. I'm in no condition to fight him on my own, we'll make our way back to the surface and link up with General Kenobi."
"Copy that."

I swear I'm going to get these logs done, hopefully by the end of the week, just need to find some time and inspiration.
The shot kind of got a weird evening glow to it, might re-shoot just so it looks uniform with my other entries, let me know what you guys think.
My next project will likely be for WID, so stay tuned!
Thanks for stopping by!
