B61
The B61 is a parachute-retarded or free-fall nuclear weapon. It can be dropped aircraft carry the B61 externally at high speeds from altitudes as low as 50 feet. A variety of aircraft carry the B61 externally or internally. It can be detonated either by air or ground burst. The retarded delayed ground burst is also called laydown because the weapon lies on the ground for a period of time before detonation. This allows the delivery aircraft to escape.
New Mexico Air Guard, "The Tacos”
The New Mexico Air Guard was activated on July 7th 1947 as the 188th Fighter Bomber Squadron. In 1948 the 188th's mission changed from fighter bomber to fighter interceptor. In 1957, the unit was re-designated the 150th Tactical Fighter Group with the 188th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron becoming the group's flying squadron. In October 1995, the unit was renamed the 150th Fighter Wing.
The 150th Fighter Wing also included the Defense Systems Evaluation which provided mission testing for nearly all the US and Soviet missile defense systems together with testing for a number of nuclear and non-nuclear weapons. "The Tacos" operated the F-16 from 1992 to 2003. The unit has also flown the P-51, F-80, F-100 and A-7 fighter aircraft. The Tacos deployed and have flown combat operations in Korea, Vietnam, Bosnia and Iraq and were mobilized and flew combat air patrol sorties throughout the United States following the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.
BURRAS DOMINATE THE DAY
A GRADE
The opening round of the 2010 Central Highlands Netball League provided Hepburn with the start they wanted in their hunt for a finals berth. Hepburn’s new senior line up took to the court with great confidence after 10 weeks of fitness and skill training. From the first whistle, Hepburn’s new recruit and star defender Ebony Place, intercepted the ball to pass on to sister Lauren at Wing Defence and Hepburn controlled the ball down court to score.
The Burras continuously applied pressure all over the court as they quickly broke down Daylesford’s attacking systems. Tara Ford, 2009 Under 17’s League Best & Fairest made her senior’s debut in fantastic form. Hepburn’s new defensive combination proved too strong for their opposition and combined with the speed of their attacking line up. Hepburn went to the first break 21 to 3.
Hepburn didn’t hesitate to rotate its entire bench throughout the game with each combination seeing the Burras increase their lead. Hepburn’s fitness and accuracy in goals saw them run out winners 86 to 8. Captain Libby Purtell and Defender Kylie Torpey were extremely pleased to have such a strong win for their 200th games with the club.
Goals: Jane Lienhop 36/43 84%, Libby Purtell 31/41 77%, Kristina Closhey 19/25 76%
B GRADE
Hepburn’s new reserves line up was also eager to kick start the year. With the return of deadly accurate goaler Mel Penny, the Burras came out fast and hard early in the first quarter to over run their opponents defence. Led by captain and Wing Attack Janee Brown, Hepburn continuously pushed the ball down court with speed and accuracy to eventually dominate all over the court.
From a 14 to 2 first quarter start, the Burras never looked back. The new centre court line up has been working on skills and fitness to provide both ends with the support they struggled with last year. Hepburn ran out winners 53 to 18. This will now help the reserves with their goal of a top 4 finish and a run in the finals.
Goals: Mel Penny 41/50 82%, Tania Grant 8/15 54%, Courtney Wetzel 3/7 42%
Other Results
Hepburn’s new C grade team also had a solid win 31 to 25. Hepburn’s Under 17’s won 32 to 13 and Under 13’s A 7 to 4.

The first Cape Florida lighthouse was built in 1825. In December 1835 the Second Seminole War broke out after a U.S. Army unit marching north was massacred by Seminoles.
"My name is John Thompson, newly appointed keeper of the Cape florida Light. Yesterday, July 23, 1836, my assistant and I were attacked by Seminole rifle fire.
We kept the indians at bay until nightfall but we were forced to leave the cottage and barricade ourselves in the lighthouse. My assistant and I were badly wounded from Seminole bullets. My feet were nearly shot off. The Indians set fire to the entrance, the doors and the windows of the light. Breaking oil cans used for illuminating the light fed the fire, which soon covered the entire floor.
We ran up the tower stairs, which caught fire from the bottom up. We were desperate. Finding ourselves caught on the iron tower floor, which was burning hot, there seemed to be no way out of our situation. We were surely going to burn to death. I threw down gun powder expecting to cause an explosion, which would put a quick end to our lives. I guess the Indians thought the explosion killed us. They burned down my cottage and took off in my sloop.
The explosion actually put out the fire. Unfortunately, my assistant, who was shot, died from his wounds. Parts of my feet are burned and shot off. I am also suffering other burns and have spent 12 hours naked on the watch tower, eaten by mosquitoes and roasting under the burning sun. It seemed as if I was now almost as bad off as before, a burning fever on me, my feet shot to pieces, no clothes to cover me, nothing to eat or drink, a hot sun overhead, a dead man by my side, no friend near or any to expect, and placed between 70 and 80 feet from the earth with no chance of getting down.
Finally I was rescued by a passing naval vessel -- The Motto. Apparently he sailors heard the explosion and came to see what the problem was. They found me on the tower, but couldn’t get up the burnt stairway. To rescue me, they fired a line from a musket that snagged the lantern gallery and hoisted a tail block for me to secure. Then two crewmen scaled the tower and lowered me on a makeshift litter. "
..........Thompson did recover, though somewhat crippled.

"chocolate custard, hot fudge, chocolate truffle cookie dough and vahlrona chocolate chunks, topped with chocolate sprinkles"
My first thought was "Whoa, I should get that!" And then "Wait, maybe not." A few seconds later, "Nevermind, I should get it.
It was $6.25, which bumped my food expenditure for the day (and I got to NYC at 5 PM) to around $20. Was it worth it? Probably...I mean, I'm sure it's made of good ingredients, and they shoved entire Valrhona chocolate discs in there. I BUY those discs at Whole Foods when I'm insanely hungry for chocolate (that happened once; good god, hormones). Also, it's pobably worth it because you should share this with someone else. I HAD NO ONE TO SHARE IT WITH. (Diana didn't want to partake in the insane caloric-ness...I'm about twice as large as her though).
I'm glad I tried a concrete but my complaints are that 1) those chocolate chunks were a bit too large and 2) the frozen custard was too melty. Yeah, it was hot and I knew about the meltiness beforehand from all the reviews I read, but ...too melty! (sob) Before long, I felt like I was drinking chocolate soup with huge chocolate chunks, which I couldn't entirely finish.
If I ever get another concrete, it should be because I have someone to share it with. And I wouldn't get the Shack Attack. It's hard to believe that it was a tad too chocolate-y for me. After I ate this (which I scarfed down rather quickly), I chugged 2/3rds of a small bottle of Poland Spring.
This is a picture of the immediate aftermath of a Baboon attack on two young women sitting in the back of their car whilst their male friend was out on the road photographing the Baboon Troup which was waiting along the road for unsuspecting naiive tourists like the above.
Baboons are smart and when the male driver got out of his car and walked across the road to take a better shot, one of them, obviously knowing the routine, darted across to the car and simply opened the rear door as if he does it every day.
He then jumped in the back seat on top of the two girls and ripped a handbag off the shoulder of the girl in the picture, along with the sleeve off her shirt. (lucky he did not take her arm with it)
Can you imagine the hysterical state of the two girls with this huge animal in the back seat climbing all over them and ripping at their clothes to get at one of the bags, presumably in an effort to get food? Note that Baboons are not cuddly Australia Zoo Koala's. These are large, strrong, fast, agile, vicious, aggressive, wild, smart animals that could easily kill a human or inflict a very serious injury. No problems.
Luckily for the girls, that is all it did ie jumped on top of them and then when it had one of the bags it jumped out of the car and went off up the road a little to sit down and go through his little booty, item by item, without a care in the world, as we watched the whole episode unfold.
Our guide finally retrieved her purse by shooing off the Baboon from the safety of our car but the contents were strewn all over the place. It was a frightening scene played out over a few seconds but the driver should never have got out of the car in this situation.
The girl in the picture was in a total state of shock and horror and in a daze and had no idea what she was doing when she got out of the car to thank our guide for retrieving her bag and contents. Our guide was screaming at her to get back in her car in case she was attacked again by the beast but she did not have a clue, due to her state of mind. The other girl did not get out of the car, presumably frozen stiff in shock mode.
The girl in the picture was very fortunate not to have been seriously injured by one or more of the Baboons during or after the attack in the car as they are known to make unprovoked attacks. Like most wild animals in Africa, Baboons are to be feared and best avoided.
Amish men and children listen to children sing in a school house during the final day of class on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in Bergholz, Ohio. The end-of-school celebration Tuesday served as the last big community gathering before four women and one man from this tight-knit group in rural eastern Ohio enter prison on Friday, joining nine already behind bars on hate crimes convictions for hair- and beard-cutting attacks against fellow Amish. I visited Kirkleatham Hall Museum to have a look at their latest exhibition which is called "Alien Invasion"
It features props from some of the most memorable scifi films in recent years, everything from Thunderbirds to Planet of the Apes, Mars Attacks,Robocop,Star Wars and many more.
If you are a film fan of this genre it is well worth a look being able to get up so close to the props that were actually used in the films.
Im not a film fan but went along to get some photographs of the props.
On arrival you are warned that flash photography is not allowed, which means some high ISO and large aperture settings in some of the darker areas of the exhibition are a must. So be prepared.
A lot of the props are behind glass, mostly in glass cubes and reflection is also a bit of a nuisance but with a bit of experimentation fairly decent results can be obtained with a bit of patience.
For an admittance fee of just £2 per adult it is well worth the visit.
MY Photographs From MY Visit.
the following pictures were taken by me on my visit and have been heavily post processed in Lightroom and Photoshop CC to give them an added dimension and a bit more interest.
I used Lightroom to remove all the backgrounds replacing the "clutter" with a plain black background.
The images were then edited in Photoshop CC and had some or all of the following work done to them
The actual font from the film used on a separate layer to add authenticity
Multiple layers added to create interesting scenarios see the SS Enterprise
Composite images made using multiple layer and images [twin Mars Attacks Image]
Levels adjustments, sharpening etc.
I deliberately wanted to create images that didn't look like they had been photographed in an exhibition environment, I wanted images that looked like excerpts from the films and or Literature advertising the films.
Anyway the true feedback will come from you the viewer and is always a great sense check for me to hear your views so feel free to comment, good bad or indifferent
