For LUGNuts' 21st challenge....a 21st century marvel! Behold the mighty Ariel Atom! This is one of the quickest cars in the world due to a lethal combination of intense speed, acceleration, and grip. The Atom is a great showcase of bare-minimum design, combined with the latest technology to make a potent competitor for any vehicle. That's why it was a perfect choice for this challenge.
1950s
France
These small flange, solid axle, one-piece aluminum body Atom hubs were fitted to numerous mid-priced french bicycles from the 50s through the 70s. Atom brand components were produced by Maurice Maillard. Early hubs had this cursive logo while the later hubs had a block lettered logo.
Atoms are so tiny that we cannot see them with our eyes, but we know they interconnect forming chains, rings and bonds. When looking at the seed head of this false dandelion through a macro lens, one might be able to connect the dots and imagine the atoms with their chains, rings and bonds. Atoms truly are everywhere.

Wycoller Country Park.
Design by Peter Meacock with Katarina Novomestska and Architecture Central Workshop.
Pendle's Panopticon, 'Atom', rests on the hillside above Wycoller village in Wycoller Country Park. Constructed in ferro-cement with a surface coating of metal-based paint, it is both a striking contemporary viewing point and shelter from which to enjoy Pendle's glorious scenery, and an intriguing and beautiful object which can be viewed from afar. From inside, its circular viewing spaces frame spectacular views of the surrounding countryside, and an initially hidden, polished steel ball reflects back those views to the visitor.
Crazy little Ariel Atom in action! These things are so cool!
Had two of them on Cruise 4 Kids! Feedback on the shot would be appreciated!

The evening sky silhouettes the Atom sculpture outside the Savannah River Site Museum. The museum chronicles the history and development of the Savannah River Plant (now SRS) from the time of the 1950s Cold War to the present. The important nuclear research done at the SRS not only helped the United States win the Cold War but also continues to ensure the safety and security of our country today.
