Berzerk was officially ported to the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, and Vectrex. The Atari 2600 version features an option in which Evil Otto could be temporarily killed (he always returns). The Atari 5200 version is the only home version to include digitized speech, though the 2600 version was hacked to include speech in 2002.

Atari 2600 - Missile Command

Starmaster is a video game produced for the Atari 2600 video game console. It was created by Alan Miller, and released in June 1982 by Activision. The game is very similar in many respects to Atari's 8-bit computer game Star Raiders, and is often held to be a better adaptation for the 2600 than Atari's own 1982 port of Star Raiders.

In the game the player pilots a starfighter, with the purpose of destroying a number of enemy ships before they destroy four friendly starbases. Gameplay is presented mostly in first person cockpit view, which is achieved with surprisingly good effect given the 2600's primitive graphics capabilities.

The starfighter carries laser weapons, shields, and a faster-than-light drive. The fighter also carries a limited energy supply, which is drained by firing the lasers, being hit by enemy fire, warping, or simply flying around. If the ship's energy drops to zero it is destroyed, and the game ends. Enemy fire can knock out the fighter's subsystems (such as weapons) on top of draining energy.

The game "universe" is a square-shaped galaxy mapped into a grid of 16 sectors. Each sector can be home to some enemy ships, a starbase, both, or nothing. The player "warps" the fighter to a sector to engage enemy ships; once they are all destroyed, the player moves on to another. The player can also warp to a sector with a starbase, and dock with it (a rather tricky process) to replenish energy and repair damaged subsystems. Enemy ships in turn maneuver through the galaxy as they home in to destroy the starbases.

The game is won when all enemy ships are destroyed, or lost if either the player's fighter or all four starbases are destroyed. In this way a game can last only a certain time, in contrast to games like Space Invaders which can go on forever.

I don't think Eric fully appreciated at the time how he was being brought into the video game age. Oh, yeah, or me either. (Granted, I'd been playing Pong for years by this point. Atari was still a game changer, so to speak.)

The Activision Decathlon is a sports game for the Atari 8-bit, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Commodore 64, ColecoVision and MSX platforms. Up to four players compete in the ten different events of a real-life decathlon, either in sequence or individually.

The game became somewhat notorious for the amount of wear or damage inflicted upon console controllers,[citation needed] namely the Atari 2600 version where rapid back-and-forth movement of the joystick propels the athlete down the track.

The game was later reissued simply as Decathlon by the UK budget label Firebird.[1] It was subsequently featured on the PlayStation 2 compilation Activision Anthology.

In ages past, before Al Gore invented the Internet in 1995, people had to go out to these buildings called "Stores" to shop for video games. One of these "Stores" was called Sears, and while you could buy riding lawnmowers and ladies undergarments there, you couldn't buy Atari games. Why not? Because they didn't sell Atari games. They sold "Sears Tele-Games Video Arcade" games. They looked like Atari games. They felt like Atari games. They ran on a system that looked an awful lot like an Atari. In fact, they even ran on a system that WAS an Atari, yet they weren't Atari games, they were Sears Tele-Games Video Arcade games.

You see, for reasons known only to licensing and branding attorneys in the 1970's, Sears and Atari decided that it would be a good idea to brand all of the Atari stuff (Systems, games, the works) as "Tele-Games Video Arcade" for sale in Sears. The games are identical to the Atari versions, but have different packaging and labeling. In some cases, even the titles have been changed. There were even a handful of Atari produced games that were released exclusively on the Sears Tele-Games label.

Not content to simply confuse the masses by rebranding Atari games, Sears later released the "Tele-Games Super Video Arcade" system and games for it. The Super Video Arcade was actually an Intellivision clone.

From my personal collection. This is the 23rd issue of Electronic Games Magazine. It is in near perfect Near-Min plus (9.6) condition.

Issue of scary Games! Not sure why the Smurfs are on the cover of a scary game issue, but truth be told if I saw a real Smurf I might be a little scared. They are a little on the freaky side if you think about it... Also, why does Pac-Man look like Jack Nicholson?

All in all a pretty cool cover.

Chopper Command is a video game by Activision released for the Atari 2600 game console in June 1982. The game was successful due to its perceived superiority to Atari's home version of Defender; Chopper Command shares many similarities in gameplay to Defender. Chopper Command was programmed by Bob Whitehead.

Chopper Command involves the player controlling a military helicopter in a desert scenario protecting a convoy of tractor trailers that are in position on the ground. The goal is to destroy all enemy fighter jets and helicopters that attack the player's helicopter and the friendly trucks traveling below. The game ends when the player loses all of his or her lives, or when the player reaches 999,999 points. The game also utilizes a type of radar in order to detect enemy craft not visible on the main screen.

Like many Activision titles, a player who achieved a particularly high score could receive a video game sew-on patch relevant to that particular game.

Thrilled to add this to the collection, even with a minor seal breach

Amazed to find a this artifact in great condition at a used book store...

Unfortunately, the price stick had to remain on as it would damage the artifact if removed.

Found my first console the other night. Decided to shoot it.
