Worried about Assignments??? ... Assignment Studio is one of the best solution for Research Paper, Assignments, Articles etc....
Evening class,
I am a novice photographer trying to aim for intermediate at some point. I am quite familiar with the program though and try to learn and re-learn techniques as the years come by. What program I used for this assignment was Photoshop CC on my Macbook Pro. I wanted to explore more than the initial cropping tools (which I did use as a finishing touch) and highlight or shadows. Instead, I pushed for HDR using ACR and playing with the ranges in my camera. With a tripod I steadied the flow of focus on the image as any shakiness would've proved to ruin the crispness of it. I preceded to take numerous amounts of photos until I felt satisfied with three; normally ranged, overexposed range and underexposed range. I then opened up the ACR and used the functions within such as dimming the highlights and brushing it across the image ever so briefly. I also added a hint of a vignette though it can be hardly seen because I dimmed it down from the shadows being exposed.
Using these techniques helped enhance the previous three photos into a merge of one, single and clear image. You can clear see the foreground water ripples, background sky highlight clouds and the dark, relaxing forest and houses over yonder. Using this new technique that I've discovered really brought out a new outlook on photo-taking.
I came up with the pajama idea because the first time I took the photo, my daughter didn't really feel like taking pictures by doing her hair and getting dressed up. She wanted to do it in her pajamas that didn't really match, however, the pictures turned out blurry so when I suggested it a different day she wanted to do the pj's again. Since the pictures turned out blurry and I knew I was dealing with someone who wouldn't stay still for long I used a tripod. I opened up the window and used 4.5 so as to blurr the outside a little bit. I used ISO 200, 50mm, f/4.5 and 1/8 sec. In LR I did minimal changes to exposure+.95, contrast +10, highlights -12 and blacks +2.

War creates a lot of division in our world today, causing citizens of a certain culture to view others differently and often discriminately. However, it also brings to light different cultures and the way people in different regions look. Fashion takes this positive aspect and elevates it to another level. Although the man on the left is in New Delhi, India and the man on the right is in New York, New York, the style of clothing they are wearing are very similar but twisted to represent their own cultures. The man on the left is wearing a patka, a traditional head covering worn by Sikhs. The man on the right wears a very American hat, both minor details illustrating the two men's differences while looking very similar. According to The Levin Institute, a characteristic of globalization is the integration of people of different nations that affects people culturally. It is now very fashionable to incorporate clothing from different cultures into single outfits and be a walking representation of globalization.
When I saw these two photos, I thought it was really interesting how these two men were dressed in such similar yet distinct styles and in completely different cities so I thought putting the two portraits together represented a unity between the two while still maintaining their differences by a sharp change, not blurring the transition. The barbed wire represents the divides war creates, but the writing "fashion unites when war divides" is placed on top because fashion transcends the negative aspects war can create.

Assignment DOF for Beginner to Intermediate Group. Note the EXIF data for aperature and focal length settings.
For this assignment i decided to go with a portrait, because I wanted a bit of a challenge. I'm a little disappointed with how it turned out because i underestimated how difficult the lighting was in the original picture. It turned out grainy and I still did not nail the shadows on the face. The background is also a bit too dark but all I had was a black sheet. I wish I would have gone to the studio to take it. I tried to fix some of the flaws in Photoshop, but was not quite able to get all of them. To get the old look the photo has, I used curves. Some things I do like the photo is how well the pose was mimicked and how even the cropping turned out. I do think some of the shadows and highlights turned out well.
Looking down the hall toward the back bedroom. An ironing board rests against the wall. The ceiling and attic insulation hangs from above. Exploring a rural home devastated and abandoned after Hurricanes Rita and Ike. The little wooden house is less than a half mile from my home south of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Assignment: Viaduct
Dare: find a point of view that few others have found.
WIT: I was in Queens, NY on Mother's Day. I was right near the Whitestone Bridge, which connects the Bronx to Queens. So being that I had some time to kill I was able to capture some images. I used various techniques to achieve the vintage/grungy feel, and added some increased contrast and vignetting in LightRoom.
I live in a logging community, an old Mill town - Wood is everywhere, in every form. Being a tree hugger, I wanted to use this assignment to showcase the timeless beauty of wood.
I chose this; An old rocking horse that I bought at an Auction years ago.

TITLE: MY MACRO MODE
ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
To the best of my knowledge, all digital cameras (and some film) have a "Macro Mode" setting somewhere on or in the camera. Also somewhere in your instruction manual will be a table that shows the range (cm or ft) that this setting is designed for.
In this assignment you "MUST" use this setting and photograph a subject (of your choice) at it's closest (in focus) position in front of the lens.
Also, in your "What It Took" (WIT) please describe 1) Your camera's Macro Mode's closest dimension it can focus (@smallest focal length) and 2) How you handled the issue of lighting an item so close to the lens.
I am sure many of you use other modes or settings to record your Macro photographs, as I sometimes do, but that is not the object of this assignment.
RESTRICTIONS
None really...Just a photograph of something "Up Close and Personal" that will get a bunch of votes.
DARE
If you have a bellows...USE IT....
WIT, ok, so i used the macro setting on my camera and used my sigma 70-300mm...with a reversed 50mm 1.8 attached to the front (poor man's macro lens). In macro mode, i couldn't use the commander feature of the d90 for some reason, so i used a cactus remote trigger on an sb600 reflected off a piece of paper. Unsure what the magnificaiton is. The photo is uncropped, and is one of the cpu contacts off my sigma 10-20.

Public Education
Over the past three years I have been exploring educational institutions that act as pilot to class mobility. It is the American ideal that one can rise above their class if they work hard enough in school. Anyone can be president, or anything they wish to be. These structures, meant to be the building blocks of one's future, are the supposedly egalitarian basis for opportunity.
By photographing without human presence I hope to create a stage-like setting, so that it is up to the viewer to project their own ideas of how they might experience each area. Through these portfolios I hope to touch upon both the advantages and limitations of each education.

Active Assignment Weekly: Minimalism/K.I.S.S
K. I. S. S. or Keep It Simple Stupid is a phrase adopted by 12 step groups to remind themselves to keep it simple. I've adopted it for use in my own life sometimes to remind me when things get complex and out of whack to focus on whats important and leave the rest alone. For this weeks assignment, I want you to do exactly that. Choose your subject, isolate it using selective focus, colour, composition or whatever means appeals to you while keeping to the objective of minimalism.
DARE: Try to find an existing minimalism composition outdoors to photograph.
WiT: I was in Oceanside, CA while on a business trip to the San Diego area this week. I took up the Dare this week... I found this tall palm apart from many of the others. I thought it against the bright blue sky fit the assignment really well
DPS assignment, "What's in your bag?". I don't have a camera bag, but like many moms, I have the combination diaper-camera-and-purse bag. This includes camera, wallet, phone, gum, chapstick, keys, diapers, toy, juice cup and old dry nasty french fry.
My tearsheet assignment inspiration pages. My inspiration shot that got me thinking and ultimately made is the lemon picture in the bottom right.

This page is so cool. So many different assignments are interacting to make this what it is. First the circles page, then the showering that made the dye soak throuhg lots of pages. Then the ripping on the left side and finally, the lines that I drew while on a bus.
Very, very interesting and fun results, in my opinion, what this journal is really about.
I took this for the weekly assignment for digital photography school. The assignment was "Ghetto Lighting" where I used a desk lamp to illuminate my face :-)
