Alta Gracia, Dominican Republic
Workers at the Alta Gracia factory, set up as a "fair wage" factory recently by Knights Apparel, which is one of the largest suppliers of t-shirts and sweatshirts to colleges in the US. This factory is paying workers a living wage, about 3.5 times more than they are paid in other factories clothing factories in the DR.
The clothes are sold at a slightly higher price with tags explaining to customers that Alta Gracia (also the name of the clothing line) pays the workers more.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Jeremy Wall and I seem to have gotten a little stuck on 02 Assignment, the hardest part for me was selecting photographs to post. The photographs I have chosen are a reflection of how I see myself in this world. I find myself distant from this world of mass garbage, ill call it clutter. Right now in my life it is difficult for me to take photos of myself, people, places, and things without there being some sort of unwanted clutter in the background, like a garbage can next to a beautiful tree or a doorknob in the background, this is very frustrating. I am a dreamer and also a doer. In a lot of self portraits I take or when someone else takes a picture of me I always appear mad or upset it is just the way I look, I can’t help it. I am really a nice person and I love helping out other people, it makes me feel good. I love to laugh and if you were to hang out with me I will get you to laugh also, either with me or at me. In this waste land of garbage that seems to engulf everything that is pretty to me, I do my best. I really need to get out of this garbage dump but I am stuck. I adore the beach, but I can’t find anyone that wants to go. The only form of transportation I have is my beach cruiser and public transportation, my beach cruiser is too long for VTA busses. I need to get a tripod, park benches and stacking candles is not working for me. I also have a really hard time with computers, I will admit. I have a lot of love in my soul, nothing will ever ruin that.
Old shoes, new shoes, cute shoes, ugly shoes, colorful shoes, etc.. Shoes worn or by themselves. Single or a pair. Show a detail or full shoe(s).
Put your creativity to work.
Restrictions: Only shoes meant for people. No horse shoes.
Dare: Shoes in motion.
WIT:
Went for a hike using the break in the good weather and thought I could try and use our shoes along the way. Had an idea in my head to use the shoes with some backdrop in the back while sitting on a rock. Unfortunately didn't find a suitable rock to sit on after the rain!!
The way I decided to approach this assignment was to play with different camera angles/ lighting. I asked myself "How can I make simple everyday items appear more interesting?" I also captured a mess from a project I have been working on for senior portfolio. I wanted to focus on getting the depth while still keeping the focus on certain objects. I chose this space because it is my main living space. I am always working, eating, or getting ready in these spaces. I made my photographs simply by playing with camera angles. I want the viewer to see a simple space at more than the basic perspective.

Here is my attempt aha...
Had to cut off her top and colour her skin in and draw on her hair... and the thong on her head I drew. xD
Quite pleased with it actually...
For this photo, I used natural lighting from the window in my room. The girl is leaning against a wall about 8 inches from the window. I had her turn slightly away from the window so that the light would only catch one side of her face. This lighting created a soft yet intense mood. It's also a bit mysterious which is exactly what I was going for.
I set up my camera on the beach with a tripod and turned the ISO down to give myself a silhouetted impression.

Assignments from an online class - Gesture Drawing at Schoolism - taught by Pixar Story Artist, Alex Woo.
A closeup of the fiber we were given for the assignment. We got different combinations of colors - I ended up with orange & brown which just happen to be my faves.
Both are combed top, I believe Louet, I believe Corriedale.
They need to be handcarded for woolen spinning.
I just split each color in half, half to be used for the orthogeneous blend and half for the homogeneous blend.
Taken for Active Assignment Weekly for the week of August 18-25th.
The assignment:
This week I would like you to take an item from inside your house, which normally doesn’t leave your house, and photograph it outside.
Restriction: no chairs, tables or food implements because they can be used outside.
Dare: show us something really unusual and creative.
Importantly have fun and try not to break anything :-)
WIT: It was raining for a few days straight (which is no longer typical for Colorado) so I took this painting of a mediterranean seaside village and placed it out in my yard. I liked the contrast of what was going on in Denver and what is protrayed in the painting.

This week's photo assignment was to take a photo of an animal, using only manual settings. I caught Zelda striking a pose.
I have to say, it's hard photographing a beige cat on a beige rug, and making it at all interesting. Luckily, I caught her blue eyes in this shot!
Even though I might look like I know what I'm doing, I'm actually still relatively new to editing. An advanced beginner might be more fitting than just beginner since I already have some ideas on how to edit photography previously. So for this image, I used Pixlr. I used the crop tool and used the bushes on both sides as my guide on where to crop. I also covered the screen window with black brush to create less distraction. Then I used some adjustment to get better lighting in the photo. After all that, I feel like this edited photo looks more vivid and and a little bit more detailed than before.
