I love this time of year in Colorado! The colors are so amazing and bright! This is White River National Forest just outside of Minturn, Co.

A line of Aspens rims the ridgetop in gold near Dallas Divide in southwest Colorado. Location is along the Last Dollar Road near Ridgeway in the San Juan Mountains.

On my recent trip up into the Sierra Nevada range I found that the Fall foliage was just beginning to make its appearance. The Aspens are always the first and I think they are my favorite with the gold, yellow and burnt orange colors.

Aspens along the June Lake loop in California.

Aspens turn gold in late September, early October in Colorado's Mountains. Putting on a natural show before winter and Ski season arrive often a quite time in the mountains as you hike further from the roads . In the summer this area is heavily used.

"Look at the stars Look how they shine for you And everything you do Yeah, they were all yellow

I came along I wrote a song for you And all the things you do And it was called 'Yellow'

So then I took my time Oh what a thing to've done And it was all yellow"

People that are happy don’t want change. People that are unhappy want change, but only the way they want it. Once in a while, change can happen and make things even better. I’m looking forward to that day.

Unfortunately the heavy snow in the high Sierra Nevadas this past week knocked down a large amount of the yellow aspen leaves which were so beautiful the weekend before. This photo was in the exact same spot as my previous upload, just looking the other way.

Hope you have a good weekend. If you’re in the LA area this Sunday, I’ll be down at the beach hanging out photographing the sunset. Let me know if you want to hang out and shoot, talk shop, etc. Already got about 10 people showing up.

Lac Du Bois Lake at Sunrise

~

I made a pre dawn trip to McQueen Lake in early October. As I neared the Lac Du Bois Lake I came upon what I thought was a pocket of fog on the lake. I captured this image as I waited for the sun to rise then continued to McQueen Lake, which was also shrouded in Fog that morning.

A shot from my time exploring the Alpine loop this fall. Autumn colors are the best! This shot turned out pretty well. The dynmic ange of the Sony a7 mki is pretty amazing. I picked thi camer up from ebay for under $800. Worth every penny!

- www.kevin-palmer.com - Giltedge is a former gold mining town on the east side of the Judith Mountains. At it's peak it was home to 1500 people but it is now a ghost town. Today much of it is private property so there wasn't a whole lot to explore.

The San Juan Mountains of Colorado are covered with an abundance of aspen trees that turn gold in autumn. Red Mountain is visible straight ahead, its color the result of iron oxide rocks. This photo was taken in September, near Silverton.
