Gull Lake - October 22, 2015

I arrived here in total darkness and set my tripod up on the end of a concrete boat dock at the far end of the small marina behind the general store. I listened to an owl "hoot" in the morning as the light gradually replaced the blackness of the night.

There was an obvious bite in the air and I could feel the tingle of the cold morning air on my ears, nose and cheeks as I sipped hot black coffee out of my thermos mug. I was so much enjoying the fall conditions and the peacefulness of the morning. I knew that this was a special time and gave thanks.

In this early morning scene along the shores of Gull Lake I was trying to tell a story about the peacefulness of autumn. Quiet - Cold - Calm - Beautiful.

I believe this was captured after a snowy evening in early October '14 outside of the town of Crested Butte. I just dug this one up while re-organizing my desktop computer. Have a great weekend everyone!

I couldn't help but notice these yellow pops of color amid the dark evergreens on a hillside near Ridgeway, Colorado last fall. The yellow foliage in the foreground is cottonwood trees, I believe, whereas the yellow pops interspersed among the evergreens are aspen trees. This is a tight crop of a wider image, to focus on this interesting pattern.

Look at this LARGE its crazy!

I have to start off by giving thanks John and Jave. John, big thanks for showing us around yesterday. That was a classic photo day for sure! We shot from sunrise to 12 in the afternoon! When does that ever happen? We had great light, nice storm clouds, and color for days! We couldn't have picked a better time to come shoot southern Utah. If any of you guys want to shoot southern Utah/Zion National Park area and want to see some other sights in the area, John is man. Thanks John.

Now...........thanks Jave. Jave and I had to come up with this master plan to upload this image. Here it is.........I spent 3 hours on this image, to find out, that I can't post it to flickr. This was a 3 image vertical pano/vertorama. I'm thinking that the file was to large or something. I tried re-sizing and everything else I could think of, and nothing! No luck! WTF!!!!!! Jave comes up with this idea for me to email my image to him from my iphone, then he'll see if he can upload my image to flickr. He gets my email, uploads my image, bam! We're good! Jave then emails me back the image, then I have to save the image and all this other crap, because I'm at work and they use Windows at my job, which I hate, and can't use, so to make a long story short, we figured out a way to upload this image. Thanks Jave, I'll see you next week bro! Northern Cal here I come! :-)

The trip..........WOW! Thats about all I can say. Stunning views everywhere, peak colors, and was hanging out with good people! Aaron M and I made the 330 am drive up towards Zion National Park to meet up with John. John had us on back roads and cliffs with the most amazing views. By far one of the best shooting days of this year! It was well worth the drive, and the worth the I want to stay in bed Monday attitude. I can't wait to get back up this way next fall. Thanks everybody for the visit, I hope you enjoy view, and sorry about the exif data, I have no idea where it went. Thanks.

This is one of my new favorite places, just another beautiful day in Colorado!

I hiked a few miles up the North Crestone Creek Trail on a gorgeous, mostly cloudy autumn day.

Autumn Aspen Trees with tree bark scraped markings on the trunk of the trees. Bull elk removes the velvet and polishes his antlers by rubbing them on trees, shrubs and even the ground.

Fall foliage near Sonora Pass, California

This is one of the first shots of the morning that we took when we went up to Utah. This crack caught my eye immediately. I thought it would make for a nice comp. I was amazed with the views at this location. It's crazy because this was one of those trips where everything just came together. The weather, the light, and the locations were just right. I felt like I was in the zone with my camera. It seem like everything that I photographed was good. Usually I'll go to a location, and I'll have a few shots that I like, or workable images, but on this day, everything was working. It was crazy. I'm still high from this day, and still have tons of images from this day. I just want to thank John W. and Aaron M. for such a good time on this trip. Check out their shots from this location too. They killed it! It's time to get ready for the next fun filled trip with Jave and the crew. I don't know what the plan is just yet, but I'm sure it will be an adventure to say the least. Thanks again to everybody for the visit and support. I greatly appreciate it.

A fallen Aspen lies in a forest outside of Flagstaff

A scenic landscape panorama view into an aspen tree forest with an amazing colors on the ground cover. One thing I love about Colorado is some of the most amazing colors on the side of the mountains can be some of the brush and ground cover along with the trees. This is a very large stitch together panorama image that can be printed in very large sizes.

Moods of Autumn

I always feel so fortunate when the fall weather provides clouds, fog and snow. Here is just a sample of what I experienced in the Southern Colorado San Juan mountains.

I put my ear down to my soul and realized all I was searching for was me.

Fish Creek Park is a provincial park located in the southern part of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is one of the largest urban parks in North America, stretching 19 km from east to west.

One of the reasons they call it Colorful Colorado, very much so in the autumn season but the landscape in itself can be very colorful too. This is the high country above Boulder Colorado on a nice rainy low cloud day. One of the best years up here for some deep colors.

It's always fun hiking during hunting season! On my way up to Parker Lake I passed a few deer/bear hunters with large riffles. I always like to talk to them...just to confirm that they won't shoot me from behind as I walked away! Fortunately I made it up to the lake without any trouble and got to shoot some stuff of my own!

308/366: Lost Among The Trees – Colorado Aspen (fall)

The fall version of Lost Among the Trees with the Aspens in Colorado. Every place I visit I do this style of photograph with the local trees in the area.

This one features the Aspen trees in Colorado in their fall bloom. I love how the leaves seems to twinkle and sparkle in the sunlight. There are so many unusual and breathtaking parts of this photo when shot from a low perspective. When shooting this photograph I put my camera on the ground and try to center it between several of the trees where the top is open and the sun in shining in. I then use a remote shutter release to snap the photo. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, I just want to go and get lost among these beautiful Aspen trees in Colorado.
