I am a full time traveler, camping my way around the American southwest. This stream represents part of my chronicle, my record, my connection to friends and family. There was a long line to get into the crazy cycle ring. To me, it just seemed like a good way to get hurt, and I did see at least one guy with a scraped up leg. Most of the cycles are art pieces more than they are functioning machines.

Dare to Dream: New ‘Craftivism’ project

announced by Heritage Open Days

This year, England’s largest festival of culture and heritage will celebrate its 25th anniversary, with a new arts commission focusing on those who have affected positive change and the power of gentle protest.

 

In 2019, Heritage Open Days will celebrate its anniversary with 25 Years of People Power. Against a backdrop of Brexit - a time of unprecedented social division and uncertainty - hundreds of events across the country will celebrate change-makers; those whose visions and dreams have brought positive developments to our society, both large and small.

 

Alongside festival walks, talks and openings, the Dare to Dream project will explore the power of positive visualisation in effecting change and finding solutions to the problems that surround us. Through a series of ‘craftivism workshops’ designed by Sarah Corbett, founder of the global Craftivist Collective, participants will have an opportunity to think about the issues that matter to them, and how to be an active part of bringing positive change, both locally and globally. The commission is the third in Heritage Open Days’ Unsung Stories strand, made possible by support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery with the aim of exploring lesser-known histories in new and innovative ways.

 

Participants will hand-stitch their positive visions for the future onto fabric ‘dream clouds’, share their creations on social media, and display them in meaningful locations to encourage us all to be solution-seekers and change-makers. “We’re thrilled to be working with Sarah, who embodies the gentle form of People Power that is at the heart of Heritage Open Days,” says HODs National Manager, Annabelle Thorpe.

 

“Throughout history, real change has come from those who have thought differently, dreamed big and believed solutions are there to be found. Dare to Dream offers a chance for everyone to think about how we can all positively shape the future, and make our dreams for a fairer, happier society become reality.”

 

Across the Heritage Open Days festival, Sarah will lead four free workshops, launching at

Dartington Hall in Totnes, where the concept for the NHS was established in the 1940s. Moving to Norwich, Manchester and Durham, each session will take inspiration from local dream-makers whose historic ideas helped to shape a new reality. Downloadable instruction packs will also enable organisers to run their own Dare to Dream workshops, enabling nationwide participation. After the festival, insights drawn from the workshops will create a picture of our dreams and hopes for society in the next 25 years.

 

"By having a vision rather than just fixating on a problem, our brains start finding ways to turn

those visions into reality” says campaigner, Sarah Corbett. “Join us and craft your creation, whilst you think deeply about what your dream for a better world will look like, and how you can be part of making it. Stitch by soothing stitch, we can help become change-makers."

Many panic attacks are very scary and can be consuming. These attacks can have lasting effects that may interfere with such everyday things like work, family and even going outdoors. These tips will help you cut those annoying panic attacks down to size.

 

A little appropriate music can help you head off potential panic attacks before they get rough. Choose soothing music, and set your focus on the beat or lyrics. If you are able to take your mind off of your symptoms, your body has a better chance of recovering and moving back toward normalcy.

 

If panic attacks are a problem for you, and you haven't managed to solve them yet, research relaxation and breathing techniques. Having deeper, more relaxed breaths will let you take control of your panic more quickly.

 

When having a panic attack, the feelings of fear can be overwhelming, but you should ask yourself if there's anything to be really scared of. Is anyone there to hurt you? Since in most cases, you will answer in the negative, you should simply calm down and allow the anxiety to melt away.

 

You must remind yourself that you have always come out of each attack intact and, most importantly, alive. Relax and think positively to ride it all out.

 

If you find yourself in the midst of a panic attack, stop what you are doing, sit down, and focus on your breathing. Breathe slowly in through the nose into the lower lungs, watching your stomach area rise with each breath. Breathe in to the count of five and out again to the count of five. Take ten deep breaths in this way, and you will feel much better.

 

Keep a very close eye on your anxiety levels. Part of the prevention of panic attacks is being pro-active and monitoring how you feel. This could make you self-aware, and help you to regain power over these nervous feelings. The more self aware you are, the less intense your panic attacks will be.

 

Hopefully these tips will empower you to fight back against panic. They will help you feel positive about your ability to reduce your panicky feelings. You can put your mind to it and learn to control them. Four straight rows of just the prettiest tombstones. For stones residing in a cemetery no one wants to claim (see newspaper articles below), they are very clean and well tended.

 

As I was driving to my planned cemetery visit, I passed this little cemetery. I came back and didn't even see a sign naming it. It had such fabulous stones. Still, no name. I came home and did some research. Here are two articles I found on this little cemetery located in Palmyra, Pennsylvania:

 

The cemetery that no one wants.

No one wants the Cherry Street cemetery in Palmyra, where about 1,000 people are buried, including veterans of the War of 1812, the Spanish-American War and the Civil War.

The cemetery is supposedly owned by a private corporation started in 1867 and run by a board of trustees elected by lot owners. But the trustees are long gone and nobody can find lot owners. A bank account has $30,000 for maintenance, but no one is authorized to write checks. Volunteers have been mowing the grass, but they're tired of the work.

At a news conference today, representatives of two churches that have taken care of the cemetery for the past 140 years said will do so no longer and are turning their records over to the Borough of Palmyra.

Borough manager Sherry Capello said she has no intention of accepting them. "For 140 years, the churches accepted care of the cemetery," she said. "We feel they have the responsibility."

The cemetery began in 1867, when six people who were members of the predecessors to Palm Lutheran Church and Trinity United Church of Christ formed the Palmyra Cemetery Association. Trustees were elected by lot owners, but at some point the annual elections stopped. Church members continued to manage the cemetery.

According to Palm Lutheran church member Harry Fox, the churches got a letter from the borough in 2003 saying the sidewalk next to the cemetery needed repairs. The churches hired attorney John Feather to check into their legal authority and their obligation to care for the cemetery. Feather concluded they had neither.

Capello said the borough contacted the churches when neighbors started complaining that grass and weeds were getting high.

For a while, volunteers from the Brethren in Christ church agreed to take care of it because their church was across the street. But the dozen or so volunteers decided at the end of last year they wouldn't do it any longer.

In the meantime, Feather tried to find people who would act as temporary trustees to get the cemetery association going. He was unsuccessful. He also couldn't find lot owners, although a woman was buried there as recently as a year ago.

Fox said in a written statement Thursday, "The churches have concluded that their mission and ministry is not to operate and maintain a cemetery."

Feather said he would leave the cemetery records with the library or the historical society if the borough does not accept them. He said the Pennsylvania Borough Code and the Pennsylvania Burial Grounds Law give the courts the right to direct the borough to take over neglected cemeteries.

 

According to Capello, that can happen if a majority of a borough's property owners agree. The code limits the amount a borough can pay for cemetery maintenance yearly to $3,000, she said.

Bob Stewart, director of the Pennsylvania Cemetery Funeral and Cremation Association, said there are hundreds of abandoned cemeteries in the state, many of them started in the 1800's. "The state doesn't have anything for abandoned cemeteries," he said. "I don't know what you do in that situation."

Capello said the situation is sad. "You can't just walk away because you don't want to do it any more and throw it at the borough," she said. "What's really sad is that it is a cemetery, and it's like disrespecting the dead."

PALMYRA - Palmyra Borough Council will mow the "orphan" cemetery on West Cherry Street this summer, while the borough and two churches say they are hoping for resolution of the dispute over care of the site.

Council agreed April 27 to mow the cemetery through Oct. 1 and bill the cemetery's trust fund for the cost, which is estimated at $1,000 per mowing.

"Council concluded it's the right thing to do for the appearance of the community in general," said Keith Costello, council president. "And it doesn't put us in a bad position if we need to proceed with litigation."

Care of the cemetery is in dispute, because its board of trustees no longer exists. While members of two churches that once had representation on the trustees cared for the cemetery for 140 years, last year they said they will no longer do so.

After the borough tried to get the churches to repair sidewalk along the cemetery in 2003, the churches researched ownership and concluded this was not their responsibility.

The borough last year filed a petition in Lebanon County court asking the churches to be held responsible for care of the cemetery.

Josele Cleary, borough solicitor, said borough officials met recently with representatives of the churches. No agreement was reached, but they will continue meeting, she said.

Representatives of Palm Lutheran and Trinity United Church of Christ met Monday and agreed on a proposal to work with the borough on this issue, said the Rev. Mike Beynon of Trinity.

"I'm glad the cemetery is going to be maintained, and I'm glad for the increasing amount of camaraderie working with the new officials in the borough," Beynon said.

I am feeling sickly. And hoping I did not catch the stomach version of FLU-CONN! Get it? Like Uconn. Apparently 114 people have come down with it on campus. AM had it last week. She came down with it right after our meeting last Thursday and then she came out to my show on Sunday while she was recovering. Hmmm.

 

I'm really sucking at keeping up with my 50 books challenge. I think I should start a 100 articles challenge for the year too. Mostly because during the school year, all I read are articles. Scholarly articles and the world of sociology go hand in hand. Usually they're about 30 pages long (which is SUCKASS for my printer and ink supply) and chock full of goodness. Have already read about seven for my independent study. And about 5 for my gender & sex class. Yes. Okay. Going to definitely start a 100 articles challenge. YAY! Will get that list up soon.

 

Now, I'm going to go lay on the couch and mellow in my sickness. This is an outtake from yesterday. I like how my hair is nuts and yeah. I don't know. I just like it. New FB default? Maybe.

 

(Side story to the hair: My mom took one look at my hair yesterday and asked how long it had been since I showered. Clearly she was not a fan of the random uneven braids, rainbow bracelet used as a tie, and fresh outta bed look.)

while the heavy rains wreaked havoc across vernon county the brunt of the flooding happened along the kickapoo river from ontario through la farge and on to viola ( la farge is home to organic valley ).

 

the kickapoo is named after the Algonquin word meaning “one who goes there, then here" as it meanders nearly 130 miles from its source in wilton to wauzeka, where it joins the wisconsin river - a distance of only 60 miles "as the crow flies"!

 

so it's twisty and turny and has a low capacity for water to boot, which means locals are used to flooding, but they haven't seen anything like this since the big flood of 1978, with the river cresting to 21 feet or about 8 feet above flood stage.

 

the big concern was whether the county's 22 flood control dams would hold after being weakened by the "100 year flood" that happened just 10 months ago.

 

while there were early reports of some dams failing which led to evacuations as of monday there was cautious optimism that they would hold, "“All of our dams are holding. They have suffered damage. There is still the potential for some of them to fail.”"

 

we're all safe and sound. other than a few inches of water in the basement, my biggest problem is trying to figure out how to navigate the numerous road closures and evacuation areas to get to work.

 

if you're feeling adventurous you could peruse the road closures map and try and figure out how to get me from viroqua to la farge without adding 30 miles to my daily commute :-)

These scans come from my rather large magazine collection. Instead of filling my house with old moldy magazines, I scanned them (in most cases, photographed them) and filled a storage area with moldy magazines. Now they reside on an external harddrive. I thought others might appreciate these tidbits of forgotten history.

Sony RX1 User Report.

 

I hesitate to write about gear. Tools are tools and the bitter truth is that a great craftsman rises above his tools to create a masterpiece whereas most of us try to improve our abominations by buying better or faster hammers to hit the same nails at the same awkward angles.

 

The internet is fairly flooded with reviews of this tiny marvel, and it isn’t my intention to compete with those articles. If you’re looking for a full-scale review of every feature or a down-to-Earth accounting of the RX1’s strengths and weaknesses, I recommend starting here.

 

Instead, I’d like to provide you with a flavor of how I’ve used the camera over the last six months. In short, this is a user report. To save yourself a few thousand words: I love the thing. As we go through this article, you’ll see this is a purpose built camera. The RX1 is not for everyone, but we will get to that and on the way, I’ll share a handful of images that I made with the camera.

 

It should be obvious to anyone reading this that I write this independently and have absolutely no relationship with Sony (other than having exchanged a large pile of cash for this camera at a retail outlet).

 

Before we get to anything else, I want to clear the air about two things: Price and Features

 

The Price

 

First things first: the price. The $2800+ cost of this camera is the elephant in the room and, given I purchased the thing, you may consider me a poor critic. That in mind, I want to offer you three thoughts:

 

Consumer goods cost what they cost, in the absence of a competitor (the Fuji X100s being the only one worth mention) there is no comparison and you simply have to decide for yourself if you are willing to pay or not.

Normalize the price per sensor area for all 35mm f/2 lens and camera alternatives and you’ll find the RX1 is an amazing value.

You are paying for the ability to take photographs, plain and simple. Ask yourself, “what are these photographs worth to me?”

 

In my case, #3 is very important. I have used the RX1 to take hundreds of photographs of my family that are immensely important to me. Moreover, I have made photographs (many appearing on this page) that are moving or beautiful and only happened because I had the RX1 in my bag or my pocket. Yes, of course I could have made these or very similar photographs with another camera, but that is immaterial.

The killer feature of this camera is simple: it is a wafer of silicon 35mm by 24mm paired to a brilliantly, ridiculously, undeniably sharp, contrasty and bokehlicious 35mm f/2 Carl Zeiss lens. Image quality is king here and all other things take a back seat. This means the following: image quality is as good or better than your DSLR, but battery life, focus speed, and responsiveness are likely not as good as your DSLR. I say likely because, if you have an entry-level DSLR, the RX1 is comparable on these dimensions. If you want to change lenses, if you want an integrated viewfinder, if you want blindingly fast phase-detect autofocus then shoot with a DSLR. If you want the absolute best image quality in the smallest size possible, you’ve got it in the RX1.

 

While we are on the subject of interchangeable lenses and viewfinders...

 

I have an interchangeable lens DSLR and I love the thing. It’s basically a medium format camera in a 35mm camera body. It’s a powerhouse and it is the first camera I reach for when the goal is photography. For a long time, however, I’ve found myself in situations where photography was not the first goal, but where I nevertheless wanted to have a camera. I’m around the table with friends or at the park with my son and the DSLR is too big, too bulky, too intimidating. It comes between you and life. In this realm, mirrorless, interchangeable lens cameras seem to be king, but they have a major flaw: they are, for all intents and purposes, just little DSLRs.

 

As I mentioned above, I have an interchangeable lens system, why would I want another, smaller one? Clearly, I am not alone in feeling this way, as the market has produced a number of what I would call “professional point and shoots.” Here we are talking about the Fuji X100/X100s, Sigma DPm-series and the RX100 and RX1.

 

Design is about making choices

 

When the Fuji X100 came out, I was intrigued. Here was a cheap(er), baby Leica M. Quiet, small, unobtrusive. Had I waited to buy until the X100s had come out, perhaps this would be a different report. Perhaps, but probably not. I remember thinking to myself as I was looking at the X100, “I wish there was a digital Rollei 35, something with a fixed 28mm or 35mm lens that would fit in a coat pocket or a small bag.” Now of course, there is.

 

So, for those of you who said, “I would buy the RX1 if it had interchangeable lenses or an integrated viewfinder or faster autofocus,” I say the following: This is a purpose built camera. You would not want it as an interchangeable system, it can’t compete with DSLR speed. A viewfinder would make the thing bigger and ruin the magic ratio of body to sensor size—further, there is a 3-inch LCD viewfinder on the back! Autofocus is super fast, you just don’t realize it because the bar has been raised impossibly high by ultra-sonic magnet focusing rings on professional DSLR lenses. There’s a fantastic balance at work here between image quality and size—great tools are about the total experience, not about one or the other specification.

 

In short, design is about making choices. I think Sony has made some good ones with the RX1.

 

In use

 

So I’ve just written 1,000 words of a user report without, you know, reporting on use. In many ways the images on the page are my user report. These photographs, more than my words, should give you a flavor of what the RX1 is about. But, for the sake of variety, I intend to tell you a bit about the how and the why of shooting with the RX1.

 

Snapshots

 

As a beginning enthusiast, I often sneered at the idea of a snapshot. As I’ve matured, I’ve come to appreciate what a pocket camera and a snapshot can offer. The RX1 is the ultimate photographer’s snapshot camera.

 

I’ll pause here to properly define snapshot as a photograph taken quickly with a handheld camera.

 

To quote Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” So it is with photography. Beautiful photographs happen at the decisive moment—and to paraphrase Henri Cartier-Bresson further—the world is newly made and falling to pieces every instant. I think it is no coincidence that each revolution in the steady march of photography from the tortuously slow chemistry of tin-type and daguerreotype through 120 and 35mm formats to the hyper-sensitive CMOS of today has engendered new categories and concepts of photography.

 

Photography is a reflexive, reactionary activity. I see beautiful light or the unusual in an every day event and my reaction is a desire to make a photograph. It’s a bit like breathing and has been since I was a kid.

 

Rather than sneer at snapshots, nowadays I seek them out; and when I seek them out, I do so with the Sony RX1 in my hand.

 

How I shoot with the RX1

 

Despite much bluster from commenters on other reviews as to the price point and the purpose-built nature of this camera (see above), the RX1 is incredibly flexible. Have a peek at some of the linked reviews and you’ll see handheld portraits, long exposures, images taken with off-camera flash, etc.

 

Yet, I mentioned earlier that I reach for the D800 when photography is the primary goal and so the RX1 has become for me a handheld camera—something I use almost exclusively at f/2 (people, objects, shallow DoF) or f/8 (landscapes in abundant light, abstracts). The Auto-ISO setting allows the camera to choose in the range from ISO 50 and 6400 to reach a proper exposure at a given aperture with a 1/80 s shutter speed. I have found this shutter speed ensures a sharp image every time (although photographers with more jittery grips may wish there was the ability to select a different default shutter speed). This strategy works because the RX1 has a delightfully clicky exposure compensation dial just under your right thumb—allowing for fine adjustment to the camera’s metering decision.

 

So then, if you find me out with the RX1, you’re likely to see me on aperture priority, f/2 and auto ISO. Indeed, many of the photographs on this page were taken in that mode (including lots of the landscape shots!).

 

Working within constraints.

 

The RX1 is a wonderful camera to have when you have to work within constraints. When I say this, I mean it is great for photography within two different classes of constraints: 1) physical constraints of time and space and 2) intellectual/artistic constraints.

 

To speak to the first, as I said earlier, many of the photographs on this page were made possible by having a camera with me at a time that I otherwise would not have been lugging around a camera. For example, some of the images from the Grand Canyon you see were made in a pinch on my way to a Christmas dinner with my family. I didn’t have the larger camera with me and I just had a minute to make the image. Truth be told, these images could have been made with my cell phone, but that I could wring such great image quality out of something not much larger than my cell phone is just gravy. Be it jacket pocket, small bag, bike bag, saddle bag, even fannie pack—you have space for this camera anywhere you go.

 

Earlier I alluded to the obtrusiveness of a large camera. If you want to travel lightly and make photographs without announcing your presence, it’s easier to use a smaller camera. Here the RX1 excels. Moreover, the camera’s leaf shutter is virtually silent, so you can snap away without announcing your intention. In every sense, this camera is meant to work within physical constraints.

 

I cut my photographic teeth on film and I will always have an affection for it. There is a sense that one is playing within the rules when he uses film. That same feeling is here in the RX1. I never thought I’d say this about a camera, but I often like the JPEG images this thing produces more than I like what I can push with a RAW. Don’t get me wrong, for a landscape or a cityscape, the RAW processed carefully is FAR, FAR better than a JPEG.

 

But when I am taking snapshots or photos of friends and family, I find the JPEGs the camera produces (I’m shooting in RAW + JPEG) so beautiful. The camera’s computer corrects for the lens distortion and provides the perfect balance of contrast and saturation. The JPEG engine can be further tweaked to increase the amount of contrast, saturation or dynamic range optimization (shadow boost) used in writing those files. Add in the ability to rapidly compensate exposure or activate various creative modes and you’ve got this feeling you’re shooting film again. Instant, ultra-sensitive and customizable film.

 

Pro Tip: Focusing

 

Almost all cameras come shipped with what I consider to be the worst of the worst focus configurations. Even the Nikon D800 came to my hands set to focus when the shutter button was halfway depressed. This mode will ruin almost any photograph. Why? Because it requires you to perform legerdemain to place the autofocus point, depress the shutter halfway, recompose and press the shutter fully. In addition to the chance of accidentally refocusing after composing or missing the shot—this method absolutely ensures that one must focus before every single photograph. Absolutely impossible for action or portraiture.

 

Sensibly, most professional or prosumer cameras come with an AF-ON button near where the shooter’s right thumb rests. This separates the task of focusing and exposing, allowing the photographer to quickly focus and to capture the image even if focus is slightly off at the focus point. For portraits, kids, action, etc the camera has to have a hair-trigger. It has to be responsive. Manufacturer’s: stop shipping your cameras with this ham-fisted autofocus arrangement.

 

Now, the RX1 does not have an AF-ON button, but it does have an AEL button whose function can be changed to “MF/AF Control Hold” in the menu. Further, other buttons on the rear of the camera can also be programmed to toggle between AF and MF modes. What this all means is that you can work around the RX1’s buttons to make it’s focus work like a DSLR’s. (For those of you who are RX1 shooters, set the front switch to MF, the right control wheel button to MF/AF Toggle and the AEL button to MF/AF Control Hold and voila!) The end result is that, when powered on the camera is in manual focus mode, but the autofocus can be activated by pressing AEL, no matter what, however, the shutter is tripped by the shutter release. Want to switch to AF mode? Just push a button and you’re back to the standard modality.

 

Carrying.

 

I keep mine in a small, neoprene pouch with a semi-hard LCD cover and a circular polarizing filter on the front—perfect for buttoning up and throwing into a bag on my way out of the house. I have a soft release screwed into the threaded shutter release and a custom, red twill strap to replace the horrible plastic strap Sony provided. I plan to gaffer tape the top and the orange ring around the lens. Who knows, I may find an old Voigtlander optical viewfinder in future as well.

Nachdem du dich in schwitzende Trance getanzt hast oder wenn dir die Wärme des portugiesischen Sommers zuviel werden sollte: Die nötige Erfrischung ist maximal ein paar hundert Meter entfernt - egal wo du gerade bist. Der große See bestimmt nicht nur das Bild der Boom, sondern auch ihre Stimmung. Wie beim Strandurlaub kannst du jene fließende Ruhe des Wassers aufsaugen, die dich sanft umspült.

  

DESIGN FÜR DEN GEIST

 

Das Liminal Village bietet Gelegenheit, dir dein Oberstübchen neu einzurichten: Mit Lebensphilosophie und praktischem Wissen. Im intellektuellen Brennpunkt der Boom finden Vorträge und Diskussionen zu Themen wie Aktivismus, Psychedelik, Freie Kultur, Rituale der Ahnen, Mythologie, Ökologie, Traumlandschaften, Permakultur, Trance, Heilige Pflanzen oder Alternative Medizin und Wissenschaft statt. Dazu waren in den letzten Jahren Referenten wie Vandana Shiva, Alex Grey, Daniel Pinchbeck, Graham Hancock, Robert Venosa, Erik Davis und Shipibo Don Guillermo Arevalo zu Gast. INSTALLATIONEN

 

Bildende Kunst stößt die Pforten unserer Wahrnehmung weit auf und eröffnet uns so die Sicht auf Aspekte unserer Realität, welche normalerweise hinter dem Grauschleier des Alltags verborgen liegen. Um dich mitten hinein in dieses ästhetisch-surreale Paralleluniversum zu katapultieren, kommen überall auf dem Gelände Medien wie Malerei, Bildhauerei, Land Art oder Video zum Einsatz. Sie lassen deine Reise über die Boom zu einer Reise in eine außerirdische Welt von fremdartiger Schönheit werden.

  

MUSIK

 

Über verschiedene Tanzplätze verteilt verwirklicht die Boom ihre psychedelische Vision im Spektrum der hörbaren Frequenzen. Dabei entstehen viele verschiedene Rhythmus- und Harmonie-Texturen die alle darauf abzielen, deine Synapsen zu kitzeln, deine Fantasie zu stimulieren und dich zu beflügeln. Die Klanglandschaften der Boom erstrecken sich auf Genres wie Psytrance, Progressive, Dub, Bass Music, Dubstep, World Music, Glitch, Nu Funk, IDM, Cosmic oder Psy Brakes. In ihrer Gesamtheit schwingen sie sich zum kosmischen Groove der universellen Liebe auf!

  

TANZTEMPEL

 

Mit jedem Herzschlag der Boom bebt das portugiesische Hinterland. Im monumentalen Tanztempel verschmelzen utopische Zukunftsvisionen und das archaische Ritual des Stammenstanz zu einer einzigartigen Trance-Erfahrung. Um euer Bewusstsein dorthin zu schicken, wo Worte zu Hülsen und Bedeutungen zu Variablen werden, haben wir einige der besten DJs, Liveacts und Tribal Bands eingeladen, uns mit extralangen Sets zu verzaubern. Denn Qualität ist wichtiger ist als Masse. Mit viel Liebe zum Detail planen wir eine Reise durch jene multidimensionale Welt namens Psy, wobei wir in Regionen wie Dark, Twilight, Forest, Tribal, Prog, Full-On, Groovy Full-On, Goa und Nu-Goa vorstoßen.

 

Die Grundidee der Boom unterscheidet sich ganz erheblich von der einer kommerziellen Massenproduktion. Wir möchten raus aus dem Schattenreich des Egoismus, hinein in eine kollektive Erfahrung. Mithilfe von DJs, VJs, Dekorateuren, Designern und -am allerwichtigsten- mithilfe von euch, den Boomern. Auf dass wir unsere multikulturelle kreative Energie zu einer wahrhaft großen Erfahrung vereinen: Wir sind eins!

  

UMWELT

 

Auf der Boom werden die Erkenntnisse und Prinzipien der Permakultur in ein Festival umgesetzt. So wird ganz konkret erfahrbar: Auch große, internationale Menschenansammlungen lassen sich mit maximalem Respekt vor unserer heiligen Mutter Natur vereinbaren. Dieser Ansatz wurde in den Jahren 2008 und 2010 mit dem Greener Festival Award ausgezeichnet, 2010 und 2012 außerdem mit dem European Festival Award.

 

Auf der Boom kommen ausschließlich Komposttoiletten zum Einsatz. Das Nutzwasser wird mithilfe von Pflanzen zu 100% wiederaufbereitet. Es gibt kostenlose Taschenaschenbecher. Für die Generatoren wird gebrauchtes Pflanzenöl verwendet. Außerdem nutzen wir Technologien wie Solarenergie, Windräder, Biobau und ökologische Abwasserentsorgung, die jedes Jahr weiterentwickelt werden. Auch hier gilt: Die Boom seid ihr, die Boomer. Tragt bitte dazu bei, dass sie ein nachhaltiges Festival ist. Respektiert Mutter Natur und hinterlasst keinen Müll!

  

SPIRITUALITÄT

 

Anreize für spirituell-sozialen Aktivismus, die sich in Form von Yoga, Ayurveda, Tai Chi, Kung Fu, Watsu, Therapien, alternativen Heilmethoden und ganzheitlichen Lehren manifestieren. Auch das ist ein zentraler Aspekt unserer Vision. Denn die Harmonie zwischen Geist und Körper ist ein erster Schritt in Richtung globale Harmonie.

LOGO-FREIE ZONE

 

Die Boom finanziert sich einzig und allein über den Ticketverkauf, sie ist frei von jeglichem Firmen-Sponsoring und wird es immer sein. Auch in dieser Hinsicht möchten wir einen Freiraum schaffen, in dem sich der menschliche Geist unbefangen ausbreiten und entfalten kann.

 

Obwohl das Boom Team den Rahmen schafft – das eigentliche Erlebnis, die eigentliche Inspiration und der eigentliche Geist lebt in euch. Denn ihr seid die Energie, ausgehend von euch kann sich diese Welt ändern.

FLEXIBLE EINTRITTSPREISE

 

Unser globaler Stamm ist in vielen verschiedenen Ländern zuhause, in denen ganz unterschiedliche Einkommensverhältnisse herrschen. Außerdem leben wir in Zeiten des finanziellen Abschwungs. Wir waren sehr betroffen als wir nach der Boom 2012 hörten, dass einige Menschen schlichtweg nicht genug Geld aufbringen konnten um Teil der kollektiven Erfahrung zu sein. Deshalb haben wir uns entschieden, auf diese Tatsache mit einem flexiblen Eintrittsmodell zu reagieren. Es gibt spezielle Ticketpreise für Länder außerhalb der Europäischen Union, der USA, Kanada, Australien, Neuseeland und Japan. Außerdem für jene Länder, die aktuell die ökonomischen Spekulationen der Rating-Agenturen und der IMF durchlaufen: Portugal, Irland, Griechenland und Spanien. Diese Tickets sind nur bei den Boom Botschaftern des jeweiligen Landes erhältlich, nicht über die Webseite der Boom.
