To enable the BBC Micro to be so fast, a large amount of the computer circuity was bundled up in to two Uncommitted Logic Arrays (ULAs).

Being at the east end of the runway at Liverpool gives you a beautiful view of some of the runway furniture that you don't often get to see.

Obviously a bit of common sense is needed (unlike the tosser who was there this afternoon who decided to drive up and park under the flight path just as a jet was landing - I moved him on before the Police did) but you can get some good shots of interesting things.

This looks like a directional antenna so based on its position I'm guessing that it forms a part of the ILS array. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Instantly hailed as the most important structure of its time, Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim Museum Bilbao has celebrated more than a decade of extraordinary success. With over a hundred exhibitions and more than ten million visitors to its credit, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao has changed the way people think about museums, and it continues to challenge assumptions about the connections between art, architecture, and collecting.

The Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-wave Astronomy (CARMA) was an astronomical instrument comprising 23 radio telescopes. These telescopes formed an astronomical interferometer where all the signals are combined in a purpose-built computer (a correlator) to produce high-resolution astronomical images. The telescopes ceased operation in April 2015 and were relocated to the Owens Valley Radio Observatory for storage.

Pcb of the new detector system for the next 3D unit (2013) with 2 external fast 6 ms shutters. I would like to calculate the optimal position as well as the direction of flight. Detector calculation need to be super fast, into less then 50us. The readout of the 128 analog pixels from the sensor + high-speed ADC 8 bits convertion may take a max of 50 us, + 50 us for position-direction calculation (10.000 calculations per second). This is a start of my dream, the special components are just in order, planning delivery next Tuesday. Given the new components, the majority are implanted in SMD. This is an additional difficulty, only single-layer PCB is available at this moment. The line-sensor is true hole 14 pins version, all others are SMD.

Discussion can also be followed on the next Dutch forum:

Update:

All components are delivered! Time to make the interface board to the FPGA DE1 board to connect this line array unit.

Instrument setups, such as the one shown here, are installed at the third ARM Mobile Facility (AMF3) in Oliktok Point, Alaska, to obtain continuous measurements of clouds, aerosol, precipitation, energy, and other meteorological variables.

In the center is an anemometer, and an infrared thermometer (IRT) is attached to the side of a microwave radiometer profiler (MWP).

During several two-week campaign periods in 2015 and 2016, the Evaluation of Routine Atmospheric Sounding Measurements using Unmanned Systems (ERASMUS) deployed unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to take measurements of atmospheric conditions, particularly those related to clouds, aerosols, and radiation. These data support the routine measurements that come from the third ARM Mobile Facility (AMF3) stationed at Oliktok Point, Alaska.

is one of my favorite places in New Mexico. I was there several times and I'm fascinated by this place in the middle of nowhere.

The Very Large Array (VLA) is a radio astronomy observatory located on the Plains of San Agustin, between the towns of Magdalena and Datil, some fifty miles (80 km) west of Socorro, New Mexico, USA. U.S. Route 60 passes through the complex, which is adjacent to the Boy Scout Double H High Adventure Base. The VLA stands at an elevation of 6970 ft (2124 m) above sea level. It is a component of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO).

I drove over to Ron & Angela's home today and worked on some cabochons, after selling some more petrified wood specimens to Ron - this array of cabs is made up of mostly his, but two or three I made and then sold to him (some I have previously photographed and shown on flickr).

Hexagonal Repurposed Junk Array #1; my piece for RZN8, the 2012 ArtCon Seed Auction. This is a combination audio player dock and light organ made from 100% recycled or repurposed surplus parts. The exterior is laser-cut scrap acrylic. A surplus LED array from a traffic light is driven by an analog band-pass circuit to create light that pulsates to the music. The laser cutter at Dallas Makerspace was used.
