The Neue Synagoge ("New Synagogue") was built 1859–1866 as the main synagogue of the Berlin Jewish community, on Oranienburger Straße. Because of its splendid eastern Moorish style and resemblance to the Alhambra, it is an important architectural monument of the second half of the 19th century in Berlin.
The building was designed by Eduard Knoblauch. Following Knoblauch's death in 1865, Friedrich August Stüler took responsibility for the majority of its construction as well as for its interior arrangement and design. It was inaugurated in the presence of Count Otto von Bismarck, then Minister President of Prussia, in 1866.
One of the few synagogues to survive Kristallnacht, it was badly damaged prior to and during World War II and subsequently much was demolished; the present building on the site is a reconstruction of the ruined street frontage with its entrance, dome and towers, and only a few rooms behind.[Wikipedia]

Dorothy Hodgkin got a new plaque to replace the grey rectangular one which didn't fit in with the newer hexagonal models. Note that they still managed to change the design again, but I suppose that difference isn't too disruptive. That's on the Inorganic Chemistry Lab, South Parks Road. Apologies for the chemical title - explanation for non-chemists: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthracene

The winged figure of the ‘Spirit of Bombay’ – the Urbs Prima in Indis stands atop the gable.
Her raised hand holds a ship signifying the importance and prowess of Mumbai over the sea. Just below it is the seal of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) – the most recent adaptation. It shows four engravings – the sign of industry on the top right, the headquarters building on the bottom right, three ships on bottom left, and The Gateway of India on the top left.

The Benedictine Cloister at Monreale (Chiostro dei Benedettini) was completed c. 1200. It measures 47x47 metres and is located on the south side of the cathedral. Each side has 26 arches resting on columns. The splendid capitals include narrative cycles from the Old and New Testaments.
Kolomna kalach is similar to a barn castle: it has a thick, soft "belly", an overhanging "lip", and a "handle". Until the 19th century, only noble people could taste rolls — because of the high cost of flour.
Коломенский калач похож на амбарный замок: имеет толстый, мягкий «животок», нависающую над ним «губу», и «ручку». До XIX века отведать калачей могли только знатные люди — из-за высокой стоимости муки.
