Krisper House, built between 1900 and 1901 to designs by the famous architect Maks Fabiani on commission from the lawyer and town councillor Valentin Krisper, is the oldest residential building in the Slovenski trg square. Its design was supposed to serve as a model for other buildings to be erected in the square.
Krisper House's façade, designed in a graceful Art Nouveau style inspired by contemporary Viennese architecture, is decorated with stylised floral ornaments reminiscent of the whiplash motif popular in the Belgian art of the time. According to Fabiani, floral ornamentation, which is not typical of his style, was used at the express wish of the client. The square-facing corner of the house is enhanced by a turreted balcony, characteristic also of the square's other buildings. The house boasts several excellent details.

My father's Shashitabdhapoorthi was held near a temple, which afforded me a fairly rare oppurtunity to shoot details of a temple's vimanam from up close.
Since this was a fairly small temple, this was not an elaborate affair, unlike the more typical Vimanams that grace the pages of most coffee-table books on temples of India.

Saint Louis founded the Abbey of Royaumont in 1228 and stayed there many times; this was Royaumont's period of greatest renown. Monks lived there up until the Revolution but the community was very quickly reduced from 120 to about 20 and then 10 monks, while the buildings were abandoned. From the 16th century Royaumont was headed by a series of commendatory abbots, many of whom took a liking to it and made it their summer residence. The last abbot, Cornut de Ballivières, built a magnificent palace but never lived there because by the time it was completed in 1989 he had fled.
After the Revolution
The church of Royaumont was destroyed in 1792. The new owner of the Abbey, the Marquis of Travanet, used the stones of the church to build workers' quarters in the park for the cotton mill which he installed at Royaumont. While the old architecture was mistreated for the sake of the factory, a Romantic taste for old ruins and the social life of the new occupants attracted the Paris upper-crust bourgeoisie. In the second half of the 19th century, sisters from the Sainte Famille de Bordeaux undertook to restore the soul of the Abbey. Guided by the idea of rebuilding the original Gothic architecture and working for the glory of Saint Louis, they undertook extensive restoration work.
Royaumont in the 20th century
In the early 20th century the Abbey was acquired by the Goüin Family which set up the current cultural centre. In 1964, Henry and Isabel Goüin created the Royaumont Foundation (Fondation Goüin-Lang pour le Progrès des Sciences de l'Homme), the first private French cultural foundation.

The Château d'Écouen is a historical castle in the city of Écouen, north of Paris, France.
The castle was built between 1538 and 1550 by the architect Jean Bullant for Anne de Montmorency, who was made Connétable de France in 1538.
Following an idea of André Malraux the castle was thoroughly renovated by architects of the Monuments Historiques, after having served as a school for daughters of chevaliers of the Légion d'Honneur, from 1807 to 1962, in order to house the "Musée de la Renaissance", comprising the Renaissance objects of the collections of the Musée de Cluny, in sympathetic surroundings. A series of small, highly focussed exhibitions have been staged at Écouen over the years since the museum fully opened in 1982. [Wikipedia]

In case you are wondering, no this isn't a long exposure. The rain was coming down so hard that in the 1/7 of a second that the shutter was open, there was enough water pouring down to form those streaks.
As I mentioned in my last upload (I think), I am spending some time in Minnesota. So, I'll be uploading some pictures from that trip, piecemeal. One of the more interesting places we visited (upon someone's recommendation) was this Cambodian Buddhist Temple called Watt Munisotaram. I don't know much about anything I photographed in terms of symbolism (if anyone does, please feel free to annotate!)
The temple was very much in the middle of nowhere. Very unexpected. These banisters were particularly beautiful.
Taken somewhere in Minnesota.

Art Nouveau in Ljubljana
The People's Loan Bank building, located at No. 4 Miklošičeva ulica street, was designed by the architect Josip Vancaš in 1907. The most remarkable features of its distinctly Art Nouveau façade are ceramic tiling in the style of the Viennese architect Otto Wagner and shallow balconies reminiscent of the style of Max Fabiani. Particularly striking are wrought iron balcony railings and the two corbels with girls' heads at the top of the central part of the building's richly decorated façade.
