Sandwiched inbetween 2 differently characterized plazas, ENZO forms a new place in the city where functions and people meet. The building houses an organization that works with derailed youths, a center for reconnection to education and work, a weekend school and a cultural center for lessons in a great variety of arts. All functions meet, interact and collide in a public passage that binds the building and its surroundings.

Based on the existing grid of Schiphol Airport this museum for art and light is designed at detail level. Pits and cut roofs play and trigger interests, oblique walls grab and attract wanderers in transit and enclose exhibition spaces.

...but I'm less than excited about pony packs of mixed impatiens. The former developer and owner of La Arcada, Hugh Peterson, was a wonderful, philanthropic man, but if we'd ever sat down over a couple of beers, I think I'd loosen up enough to blow off some steam about the cute squirrels and other kitsch pieces scattered through this architectural master piece.
