The right hand side mountain range of Panchachuli Peaks in Pithoragarh District, Uttarakhand, India.
Snapped on the way from our trekking from Khalia Top. This photo was snapped when the Sunlight became quite soft after 4 pm. There the visibility is so clear and so damn beautiful, I could snap this shot using my 18-135 mm lens. No cropping done.
We had gone to Himalayas and crossed many difficult terrains and tracks to snap these photos.

Revisited.
The beach has a habit of drawing attention to its larger features; cliffs, waves, skies - they tend to take centre stage.
Meanwhile, a tiny single periwinkle sits on a rock at Spoon Bay, unconcerned by any of it. Nothing urgent. Not asking to be noticed. Just there, doing its tiny, patient thing.
The longer I looked, the more I relaxed & the noise of the wider scene faded. A reminder that not everything meaningful needs to be large, dramatic, or in motion. Some things are only found when you slow down enough to see them.
Thanks for stopping by — and for pausing long enough to notice something small.
Stumbled across this sport saying recently which I think is very applicable to photography - “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
thought I know but it is so applicable...I have been back to
Brookwood Marsh several times and they haven't been there so I'm not sure if they have left...if so I am sad as I thought they were nesting there.

Ranthambore National Park (Hindi: रणथंभौर राष्ट्रीय उद्यान ) or Ranthambhore is one of the largest national parks in northern India. It is situated in Sawai Madhopur district of southeastern Rajasthan, about 110 km northeast of Kota and 160 km southeast of Jaipur, which is also the nearest airport. The nearest town and railway station is at Sawai Madhopur, about 11 km away; Kota is another convenient station as all trains stop here. RIDCOR operates a mega highway between Kota and Ranthambhore.
Ranthambhore was established as the Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary in 1955 by the Government of India and was declared one of the Project Tiger reserves in 1973. Ranthambore became a national park in 1980. In 1984, the adjacent forests were declared the Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and Keladevi Sanctuary, and in 1991 the tiger reserve was enlarged to include the Sawai Man Singh and Keladevi sanctuaries.
Ranthambore wildlife sanctuary is known for its tigers and is one of the best places in India to see these majestic predators in the jungle. Tigers can be easily spotted even during the daytime. A good time to visit Ranthambore National Park is in November and May when the nature of the dry deciduous forests makes sightings common. Its deciduous forests were once a part of the magnificent jungles of Central India.
The park lies at the edge of a plateau and is bounded to the north by the Banas River and to the south by the Chambal River. There are several lakes in the park. It is named for the historic Ranthambhore fortress, which lies within the national park. The park covers an area of 392 km². It is known for its tiger population and is one of India's Project Tiger reserves. Other major wild animals include leopard, nilgai, wild boar, sambar, hyena, sloth bear and chital. It is home to wide variety of trees, plants, birds and reptiles. Ranthambore is the site of one of the largest banyan trees in India.

Current Social Distancing Measures...
You can spend time outdoors, including exercise, as often as you wish. This must be with people you live with or, if applicable, from 13 June, your support bubble, or in a gathering of up to six, which can include people from outside your household. You should keep two metres apart from people not in your household or support bubble at all times.
You should continue to avoid public transport other than for essential journeys so should make journeys by cycling, walking or driving in a private vehicle where possible.
You may travel to outdoor publicly accessible open spaces irrespective of distance with people in your household, and from 13 June, your support bubble, but should follow social distancing guidance while you are there. You should plan ahead to ensure that, where you are visiting places like National Parks, beaches or zoos, you have checked that they are open and appropriately prepared for visitors. Many other outdoor venues where there is a higher risk of close contact and touching surfaces will remain closed as set out in the law. Campsites will remain closed and you are not allowed to stay away overnight, so should allow enough time to return home.
Mmmmmm? 🤔🤔
Exposure bracketing made in 2012 with a Fuji S100FS. I merged the Raws and reprocessed the dng with the latest version of lightroom, then finished with GigaPixel, all in less than 5mns; I get a much better and natural result than with the fusion process Photoshop of that era or Photomatix ... In conclusion, never get rid of his Raw files (as well as his negatives for that matter).
I treasure my finepix: the texture and colors are reminiscent of analog photographies... Matter of the heart.
Unfortunately, the greater demosaicers either do not accept the s100fs raf, or treat the signals as if they were coming from a Bayer matrix (possibly by analyzing them from a 45° angle). To my knowledge, only Silkypix (V11 so far) and Raw-Therapee exploit the additional pixel, but for a lower image quality than Lightroom (IMHO) and without any real improvement in the level of detail.
The good news is that the new Silkypix V11 (30$) improvements remains applicable to the s100fs raws, but the visible quality improvement is still not good enough for me.

The Black Drongo (Dicrurus macrocercus) is a small Asian passerine bird of the drongo family Dicruridae. It is a common resident breeder in much of tropical southern Asia from southwest Iran through India and Sri Lanka east to southern China and Indonesia. It is a wholly black bird with a distinctive forked tail and measures 28 cm (11 in) in length. Feeding on insects, it is common in open agricultural areas and light forest throughout its range, perching conspicuously on a bare perch or along power or telephone lines. The species is known for its aggressive behaviour towards much larger birds, such as crows, never hesitating to dive-bomb any birds of prey that invades its territory. This behaviour earns it the informal name of King Crow. Smaller birds often nest in the well-guarded vicinity of a nesting Black Drongo. Previously considered a subspecies (Dicrurus adsimilis macrocercus) of the African Fork-tailed Drongo (Dicrurus adsimilis), it is now recognized as a full species.
The Black Drongo has been introduced to some Pacific islands, where it has thrived and become abundant to the point of threatening and causing the extinction of native and endemic bird species there.

Floating Windows (third dimension) Barcelona Spain
A window is a vain and hollow high on the floor that opens onto a wall with the purpose of providing light and ventilation to stay relevant. Also called a window to all devices that are used to close that vain.
The term comes from Latin VENTUS (wind), referring to the ability of providing ventilation. Formerly known as the window is fenestrated or also called "finistra" in the same way as is called in Latin and Greek. This would be the direct etymological derivation. However, although this name is now obsolete, if stored words related to it, as defenestrated that means throwing someone through a window.
The hole is framed with vertical sides, by a chaplain or flashing high aléizar it horizontally on the tops antepecho, and a lintel or an arch that closes the top. Both the head (also called the Vehicle), where applicable, the arch, with a mandate to bear the cost of producing the wall or wall that gravitates on the hole and sent the jambs.
The locking mechanism comprises a frame or chassis subject to the internal surface of the shaft, which in turn are determined by appropriate hardware leaves, usually glazed with glass.

Spätzla, Spätzle [ˈʃpɛtslə] or Spatzen are Swabian or Alemannic pasta of an elongated shape which is served as a side dish or with other ingredients like cheese and onion as a main dish. A similar round shape, simplified in production, is native to the pre-Alpine Allgäu regions of Bavarian Swabia and Baden-Württemberg as Knöpfle.
Spätzle are egg-based pasta made with fresh egg of an irregular form with a rough, porous surface. The glutinous dough is put directly into boiling water or steam and the form varies between thin and thick, elongated and short. They are the only pasta that is cooked for the first time during the fabrication. The moist dough is either pressed through a perforated metal plate or it drips through this plate into the boiling water. Other ways to prepare Spätzle are more applicable for domestic use.

The Panchchuli peaks are a group of five snow-capped Himalayan peaks lying at the end of the eastern Kumaon region, near Munsiyari, in Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand state, India. The peaks have altitudes ranging from 6,334 metres (20,781 ft) to 6,904 metres (22,651 ft). They form the watershed between the Gori and the Darmaganga valleys. Panchchuli is also located on the Gori Ganga-Lassar Yankti divide. The group lies 138 km (86 mi) from Pithoragarh.
The five peaks on the Panchchuli massif are numbered from northwest to southeast. The highest peak is Panchchuli II, which was first scaled by an Indo-Tibetan Border Police expedition, led by Mahendra Singh, on 26 May 1973. The group's name is derived the legendary Pandavas's "Five Chulis" (cooking hearths), where they cooked their last meal before proceeding toward their heavenly abode.

Blue Skies at Loch Fada, Isle of Skye, Scotland
WOW. How often have you seen Skye looking this blue/calm/reflective/wintery? (delete where applicable, lol). After a rollercoaster week on Skye in which me and my four lovely workshop clients have experienced snow blizzards, deep snow, lots of icy roads and the bluest of blue skies, I am now looking through the images that I captured on camera.
My second workshop here on Skye kicks off tomorrow evening for another five nights before I head on over to Harris & Lewis to run a week long workshop there (then it's Japan for three weeks at the end of March and I am so excited about that). Anyhow, here's an image I took from my DJi Mini 3 Pro as I flew it over Loch Fada on Wednesday. The reflections on the loch were absolutely perfect and it was great to be able to photograph this lovely little tree island from a little closer than normal.
If you wish to discover Skye with me, I have a limited number of places left on my March 2024 photo workshop. CLICK THE LINK below for details and/or to book

The monastery acquired its current appearance after Nikolai Sementovsky, the author of popular descriptions of Kyiv shrines, spoke enthusiastically about it in 1864; nevertheless, his words are quite applicable to modern times: “The Feofaniya desert made a joyful, holy impression on my soul, which I have not experienced in my heart for a long time, despite the fact that in my life I have traveled almost all of European Russia and most of Europe, and visited all the places famous for their beauty.”

A familiar saying, but so applicable to October 2023 here!
Half of the month has been spent preparing for Storm Babet, enduring it, and its two smaller cousins that hit N E Scotland in the following week. And now Storm Ciaran beckons.
According to the proverb we learnt in school - "Trouble comes in threes". So I can add the breakdown of our central heating boiler ... and the 'breakdown' of the laptop I use for all my photographic and Flickr work!
So no October collage was possible this month - I'm using this autumnal image from 2022 as my monthly bookmark
Many thanks to everyone who has visited my photostream and for the comments and faves.

"A land yacht is an informal category of large automobiles. While full-size cars are manufactured worldwide to this day, the term is most often used in reference to cars built in North America between 1960 and 1976. Distinguished from both limousines and truck-based vehicles (vans and SUVs), land yachts are among the largest mass-produced cars ever manufactured.
Alongside full-size and luxury four-door sedans, the land yacht term was applicable to multiple body styles, including two-door notchback sedans, personal luxury coupes, convertibles, and station wagons." Wiki

The disc braking system involves many different components, but at its most basic function, the system consists of a disc/rotor, a brake calliper and brake pads. When the brake pedal is applied, brake fluid creates pressure and squeezes the brake pad against the rotor and creates friction.
Hydraulically actuated disc brakes are the most commonly used form of brake for motor vehicles, but the principles of a disc brake are applicable to almost any rotating shaft.
The components includes the disc, master cylinder, caliper (which contains cylinder and two brake pads) on both side of the disc

Quite often in the garden, I don't feel alone. As the famous song goes, sadly we won't be getting any bananas, although some young, budding ones are seen at the right of one of our banana flowers which I spotted out of the corner of my eye yesterday grinning at me. Unfortunately these embryo fruit are very unlikely to develop especially during our cool and rainy August. I thought this flower looked a little like a smiling dolphin, my son thought it looked like a shoebill. Either would be quite applicable. Whatever the imagination makes of this incredible flower, the hairstyle brought a smile to my face.
