Where 520 and Montlake interact, there are all these unfinished entrances and exits off 520 and into/from the neighborhood.
They were for a proposed and tabled expressway that would have (roughly) paralleled 99 but on lake washington blvd / arboretum. The R. H. Thomson Expressway.
While I'm glad it didn't happen, at the same time a 3rd North/South aligned expressway would have been awesome in 1970 as Seattle grew around single occupant cars....
In this proposed drawing, there is a tunnel under Lake Washington, to connect up north through Ravenna to the proposed Bothell Freeway.
This was hailed as an environmental victory, but since the traffic didn't decrease, just sat jammed for the last 30 years, polluting more, is it entirely as clear cut as this???

We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not charge for our photographs. Our only "cost" is that we request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, VK.com, Vine, Meetup, Tagged, Ask.fm,etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us or acknowledge us as the original photographers.
This also extends to the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Recently a visitor asked me how does one know the difference between 'Upper' and 'Lower' and the answer is that in general the section of a street nearest a river or canal is lower while the section furthest away from the river or canal is upper.
In the old days the better off people would live at the upper end of the street to avoid the smell of the water and also in order to avoid flooding. The exception is Mount Street Lower and Mount Street Upper as they are parallel but it could be argued the the lower street is closer to the river Liffey if the Grand Canal is not the reference.
In the 1980s I lived in Drumcondra for about five years and I really liked the area. However, I cannot remember any area being described as Drumcondra Village but there is now a sign that welcomes visitors to Drumcondra Village so my memory must be failing.
According to Wikipedia the village of Drumcondra was the central area of the Parish of Clonturk, and the two names were used equally for the religious and civil parishes, but the new suburban district of Drumcondra now also encompasses the old Parish of St. Mary.
The Cat and Cage Pub on the Drumcondra Road was the site of an old postal stop and the point at which rebels, during the 1798 rebellion, seized a postal cart in order to signal to others in north County Dublin to revolt. The Cat and Cage is located at the corner of Church Avenue.

My guess at this (Guess where) was no long. It's been a few months since anyone else has had a guess, so I'd take that as having given up. Unfortunately, Steph didn't know her way around the Northside well enough to describe where exactly it was. Once she showed me, I wanted to slap myself silly. I've driven right past this hundreds of times. It's right there on the corner of Gen Robinson and Anderson (aka 9th St). This warehouse is L-shaped, leaving a small gravel lot on the actual corner, with the warehouse surrounding it.
The answer - digital. This was the first Instagram photo I ever took back in April 2013, and enlisted the help of my old Polaroid Cool Cam from 1998 to try and make this look a bit older than you'd first presume. In fact my other hand is holding my smartphone in front of me, and it's that which took this picture.
This is the end result of me asking someone very politely to leave me alone. Having to turn off my phone and take this one, briefly, off the hook.
Apparently I'm impossible to love.
I should have stayed on vacation.

في هذا الحَديثِ بيانُ بَعضِ الدَّعواتِ المستجابةِ، حيثُ يقولُ النبيُّ صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّم: "ثلاثُ دعواتٍ مُستجاباتٍ لا شَكَّ فيهِنَّ"، أي: إنَّ اللهَ يَسْتجيبُ لثلاثةِ أنواعٍ مِنَ الدَّعواتِ يقينًا ولا يَرُدُّها أبدًا؛ "دَعوةُ المظلومِ"، أي: الدَّعوةُ الأُوْلى التي يَسْتجيبُ اللهُ لها ولا يَرُدُّها أبدًا: إذا دعا المظلومُ على الذي ظَلَمَه فإنَّ اللهَ يَسْتجيبُ له ولا يَرُدُّه، "ودعوةُ المسافرِ"، أي: والدَّعوةُ الثَّانيةُ التي يستجيبُ اللهُ لها ولا يَرُدُّها أبدًا دعوةُ المسافرِ، وهو في حالِ السَّفَرِ ولَمْ يَرْجِعْ بَعْدُ، بشَرْطِ أنْ يكونَ سَفَرُه ليس في أَمْرٍ مُحرَّمٍ "ودَعوةُ الوالِدِ على وَلَدِهِ"، أي: والدعوةُ الثَّالثةُ التي يَستجيبُ اللهُ لها ولا يَرُدُّها أبدًا إذا دعا الوالدِ على ولدِه بِحَقٍّ إذا عَقَّه أو ظَلَمَه أو لم يَبَرَّه ويُعْطِه حُقوقَ الوالدِ على وَلَدِهِ؛ فإنَّ اللهَ يَسْتجيبُ له ولا يَرُدُّ دَعوتَهُ أبدًا، وقوله: "الوالد" يشملُ الأم أيضًا؛ وقيل: لم تُذكَرِ الوالدةُ؛ لأنَّ حقَّها أعظمُ فدُعاؤُها أَوْلَى أن يُستجابَ له.
