Very very special thanks must go to my lovely friend Karl and his brother Warren for trusting me enough to put me in the photographers pit and letting me run riot :D I'm still a little deaf from being maybe a foot away from the speakers but it was totally worth it, I had an awesome night :)))

I found this plant by the dumpster, where people abandon their plants. I thought it was dead, since the only thing visible was a horizontal brown stick with some brown leaves attached to it. I put it in the garage before I left town for a month. When I came back, I was all ready to transplant something else into the pot, when I noticed that there was a spike coming out of the dirt that appeared to be alive. A few weeks later, I have this plant, but I don't know what it is!

Held on the USC campus again, the L.A. Times hosted the annual Festival of Books. The C-SPAN truck was there, and Peter Slen of BookTV was interviewing former L.A. Times reporter and columnist Robert Scheer, who answered questions and spoke with viewers on the phone about his new book They Know Everything About You: How Data-Collecting Corporations and Snooping Government Agencies Are Destroying Democracy.

2017 Miss Bristol and; Teen Queen Pageant held on Thurs. July 6, 2017. On Thursday night, July 6, 2017 at 6:30pm, the 2017 Pageant was held at the Bristol Elementary School. The competition involved an interview, a question, several fashion stage walk-ons, and a talent competition. Two panels of Judges from the community selected the winning candidates for Miss Bristol 2017 and Teen Queen 2017. 2017 Miss Bristol is Adrianna Nettro, 1st Runner up, Mariane Grace. 2nd Runner up, Gina Massaro; 2017 Teen Queen is Mary Wright; 1st Runner up, Dreylynn Schertz; 2nd Runner up, Madelen Clements; 3rd Runner up, Hazel Kuykendall. The theme for this year’s Pageant was “A Blast from the Past,” and for one of the fashion competitions, each contestant wore a costume representing a past era. Each contestant demonstrated her talent for the judges and answered a question selected at random.
2017 Citizen of the Year: Marshal Mike Swallow was chosen as Citizen of the Year and
nominated by Gary and Linda Powell.
