In answering a challenge from friend and fellow photographer, Katya Horner, whose work you can view at slightclutter.com I will be posting a black and white photograph each day for the next five days. I will be working to pass on the challenge to other photographers, which might be a bit hard at this busy time of the year. The ones I have contacted are either busy or have done the challenge already. Feel free to take up the gauntlet that I lay down here.
My bride, my love, my Karen Sue and I took a longish walk around Lincoln Memorial Garden recently. We were trying to time the walking so we'd be back at our car prior to sunset. We made it, but I kept stopping to grab another photograph of the autumnal splendor.
I chose this frame due to the variety of shades that the leaves were displaying. The shadows of leaves on the trunk at right also piqued my interest. While processing it into black and white, I worked to retain the wide variety of shades as gray tones.
The kingdom of leaves beckons.
Lee Harvey Oswald INNOCENT - No Case To Answer
Lovelady said he was sitting on the steps of the TSBD eating his lunch when the Presidential motorcade passed the TSBD. He may have been. But at SOME stage Lovelady got up and walked to the front to see President Kennedy and Jackie passing. Why Lovelady said he was sitting having his lunch while the President of the United States and the First Lady were passing within inches of him can no longer be believed. We have photographic proof that Lovelady WAS standing and viewing the passing motorcade. It follows therefore that Lee Harvey Oswald WAS the man standing in the TSBD doorway.

This photograph was taken by Nicholson Museum curator William J Woodhouse in Greece between 1890 and 1935.
Can you help us catalogue the Woodhouse photographic archive? Contribute by adding tags and answering the following questions in the comments below:
•What do you see? Write a brief description for this image.
•Where was this photograph taken?
•Can you find the geo co-ordinates (latitude and longitude) of this exact place? Let us know by linking to the google maps or add the co-ordinates in your comment.
•Do you know what year this photograph was taken?
About the archive:
The Nicholson Museum holds over 1800 glass-plate negatives taken by Woodhouse while in Greece in 1890s and early 1900s. A small portion of the archive also includes photographs of his family in the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia. The collection documents important archaeological sites, significant landscapes of the Greek mainland, contemporary buildings and the people he met along the way. His archive is a rich resource capturing many sites pre-archaeological excavation and before modern industrial development. Some of the photographs were published by Woodhouse in his book 'Aetolia: its geography, topography, and antiquities' published in 1897. His desire to capture Greece on 'film', was simply put in his introduction: "History only attains its full value by borrowing actuality from geography and topography". The archive shows his love not only for the sites but also for the people and spirit of Greece.
About the project:
We are asking you to contribute to our documentation of this collection and assist us with the identification of the hundreds of different monuments and places in Greece. The title of each photograph will include the museum registration number (NM2007.##.##) and may already include a place name where museum staff or Woodhouse himself have titled the image.
All of our flikr contributors will be acknowledged when the collection is published through our online collections at the completion of the project.

I had the honour of driving this beauty through the streets of Blyth Ontario, as part of the FFAO's (Fire Fighters Association of Ontario) annual convention.
This is a 1949 Mack, purchased by the City of Milwaukee and began its service on February 28, 1949. This truck answered thousands of fire calls and was taken out of service in September 1997, and used at a driving school until 1986. From 1986 to 1996 the truck rested in a private museum.
Today, Milwaukee Engine 25 rests in another private museum in southwestern Ontario.

In 1996, TIME Magazine ranked Newark "The Most Dangerous City in the Nation."[35] By 2007, however, the city recorded a total of 99 homicides for the year, representing a significant drop from the record of 161 murders set in 1981.[36][37][38][39] The number of murders in 2008 dropped to 65, a decline of 30% from the previous year and the lowest in the city since 2002 when there was also 65 murders.[40]
In the 2006 survey, Newark was ranked as the 22nd most dangerous city in the United States, out of 371 cities included nationwide in the 13th annual Morgan Quitno survey.[41] In the 2007 rankings, now performed by CQ Press, Newark was the 20th most dangerous city in America of 378 cities surveyed.[42]
