As a digital monument, "Another Moon" celebrates the end of the coal era. The installation by the artist KIMCHI and CHIPS collects sunlight on solar cells during the day and reflects this energy back into the sky at night. The installation is made of 40 laser projections, rising into the air above the industrial complex of Zollverein in Essen (Germany)

High altitude view of the White Mountains seems like it came from another planet. Permeable dolomite (limestone) gave the White Mountains both their name and the unique white color, especially above timber line.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

Another Sunday another week, goes so fast. I painted the front and garage door and framework this week. I used Zinsser paint which I was introduced to when I was painted my Daughters door last month. It was just the bulls eye primer but on my door and frame I also used the All coats satin paint for the finish, it’s a bit expensive but good stuff to work with. It dries in 30 minutes and you can clean the brushes in water, much better than than solvent paint I used in the passed for outside jobs. I used to use solvent paints for interior woodwork in the past but I’ve stopped using a long time ago, horrible stuff. I had two early morning sunrise outings with not a lot to show for it and a Sunday morning dog walk along the coast our first for several weeks and our first without Oscar, I still well up writing that. Another week at home and then the start of a hectic 6 weeks grandchild minding. We have then here for one week and the rest of the time we will be on our travels, Derbyshire, Bristol, Herts and then back to Derbyshire. Todays photo is another Bamburgh castle shot taken back in 2019 and weirdly and haven’t worked on before. That’s probably because of the iconic location. There is so many fantastic shots of this place if I don’t capture something special I really like I tend to ignore it.

Another day out photographing Kingfishers. Hopefully it was going to be better than the last trip.

The Kingfisher was proving to be a expert Fish catcher.

on a foggy drizzly Seattle day

Another shot of Fifty Point Pier from the archives. I posted a very similar scene with the wooden pier/pegs thawing but used a hard edge GND filter along with the Big Stopper and just lifting the GND up slightly to allow some more darker shades in the sky. Found myself on higher patches of ice to shoot with a 135mm from afar. A weird composition but it worked :P

Came back a week or so later, the place as completely covered with snow.

I'll be catching up big time since I've been MIA from flickr. I have to thank the old and new contacts that still stayed in touch with me all this time :)

Enjoy the first week of October!

Have a Happy day my friends

'Another Place'

Antony Gormley Statues - Crosby Beach

Plainfield Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania

"Another Place" is a piece of modern sculpture by British artist Antony Gormley located at Crosby Beach in Merseyside, England. It consists of 100 identical cast iron figures, spread over 2 miles of beachfront, all facing towards the sea.

Each figure is 189 centimeters (6 ft 2 in) tall and weighs around 650 kilograms (1,430 lb). The figures are cast replicas of Gormley's own body.

As the tides ebb and flow, the figures are revealed and submerged by the sea, and are subject to corrosion by seawater and colonization by marine animals.

Another picture from my walk. I'm told this is a Kerria, a Japanese plant that likes shaded corners of the garden. Can be invasive if the suckers are not pruned back.

Another photo in the 'park bench' series. A very tiny Chalcidoid wasp (under 3 mm), which I have not seen before.

Here's another shot of yesterdays Osprey ( Pandion halliaetus)

Also inspired by “Macro Mondays” and “My Daily Routine”. I'm grateful to the group admin, Janet Towbin, for mentioning Brain Pickings, "a subjective lens on what matters in the world and why."

I'd lost touch with the website, and I feel delighted to find it now. I didn't enter this, because it might not look like enough of a macro to enter. I reshot another macro.

Thank you for reminding me of the site, Janet, and thank you, anyone, for looking and commenting.

Against a warehouse building in the industrial section of the Wilmington area I discovered this lounger type of chair against this building of length! Nothing else within 300+ feet in either direction! Painted upon the top right was Sum1's ? As I quote urban decay beauty!

It was a fantastic day at the Santa Fe ski basin

Inuksuit continue to serve as an Inuit cultural symbol known around the worl. There is all types of version but something like this one is the most known.

This was a 61 image stack, rare that I take so many images for a stack. Due to the distance from the Mushroom (I was at min focus distance) I felt it would be a good idea.

.....Another Place

Another of the Hellebores in Dunham's winter garden. I wish gardeners would plant them on banks or raised beds, as it is so difficult to see inside these lovely flowers!

The Bear Lake Valley has been fogged in for much of this winter, and in cold weather the fog creates frost on the trees and grasses. I have posted several frosty trees, and here's another one. Where the snow ends, Bear Lake begins, but the color is almost a perfect match with the darker layer of fog.

The Osprey had circled and tries another harrassing run from a different angle.

Another and the last Goldfinch for a while.(1600 iso makng it a bit grainy) I'm away from Friday until after the weekend as we're off to London. Yep, us carrot crunchers mixing with the city folk ;~))

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!

Today is a black and white day at Color My World Daily and we celebrate Sliders Sunday. I’m super late today, since I had too much wine, dumplings and chicken wings yesterday… so the only thing I can say about my picture it is the fact that it is another version of spoon reflection theme I did few days ago…

Happy SS !!!

Acadia National Park, Maine

Apparently also known as Kangaroo House, this lovely old heritage residence at 27 Enoggera Terrace, Red Hill in Brisbane seems to have been converted into multiple flats. Nicely kept though and right across the road from the Red Hill Cinemas.

This note from the Brisbane City Council's heritage website

"This late Victorian residence was built circa 1891 for John Storie the younger, owner of Storie Steam Joinery on nearby Windsor Road. Its architectural features reveal evidence of the owner’s chosen trade, and reflect the heritage of Red Hill’s early industry. It remains as a significant example of early development along Enoggera Terrace and is important for its strong aesthetic value."

Some paler muscari seen in the garden centre.
