I've known for some time that the place around here to see acorn woodpeckers is Dawson Creek. But, after multiple trips there, I'd still not seen them. Finally, today,, I did my (internet) research to see _where_ at Dawson Creek that they'd been seen. I found a wetland somewhat matching the description, and immediately saw a Northern Flicker. But soon after, I saw a pair of acorn woodpeckers land on this tree. I now know where to look!!!

The sunrises lately here in southern Brooklyn have been pretty awesome, including today's example. I enhanced some of the color, contrast, etc., but not by much. Hope you also enjoy it!

Today during my walk, I saw movement in a tree, then waited for the appearance of this lovely Western Tanager. This is the firs time I've seen one (outside of others' pictures!).

Another morning at Druridge and another tree to photograph, today I had to drag this one again about 100 metres to the waters edge for the shot, but worth it in the end. The colour only lasted 15 minutes but enough for me to walk away happy with several decent shots and probably the best shots of an old tree or driftwood I have captured
The birdie population in SoCal is just exploding everywhere. It was another May Gray day at the pond today, but just delightful. There were lots of scurrying little shorebirds, turf interactions, etc. not to mention some mating amongst friends. Here an American Avocet with one of her chicks. Check it large!

This is some kind of flycatcher, seen at Tualatin River National Wildlife refuge. I think that it is an olive sided flycatcher, and if it is, that's another lifer for me. Please correct me if I'm wrong on the ID!
