Here's another sunset photo taken over Lake Superior from Gros Cap. The melting snow and ice sure made for some interesting compositions and added textures.
I used Photoshop to replicate the effect of using a graduated neutral density filter, as I broke my filter on another photo shoot, and haven't replaced it yet.
I have such a crush on the guy on the left. He dressed as Wolverine one Halloween. Love the outfits.
Long exposure shot at Another Place; Anthony Gormly's statues on Crosby beach. Unfortunately it was pretty overcast, so I didn't end up with quite the shot I was hoping for.
This was one of the first shots I took with a Hoya ND+400 filter. Despite doing a fair amount of reading up on them, there's certainly an amount of trial and error in getting usable shots with the filter when you're new to them, but I had great fun.

Anthony Gromley's Another Place consists of 100 cast-iron, life-size figures spread out along three kilometers of the foreshore, stretching almost one kilometre out to sea.
The work is seen as a poetic response to the individual and universal sentiments associated with emigration - sadness at leaving, but the hope of a new future in another place.
The figures - each one weighing 650 kilos - are made from casts of the artist's own body and are shown at different stages of rising out of the sand, all of them looking out to sea, staring at the horizon in silent expectation.

Another of those PWM thingummys snapped from a passing train. This is at Taunton which must make it PWM652.
Hoh Rain Forest Olympic National Park. Another one of the numerous different weird mushrooms you find in Olympic National Park due to the high amount of rainfall.

Taken on the roof terrace of The Metropolitan Museum of Art during a fabulous trip to New York with M in June 2007.
I know my stream has been a bit scrappy in recent weeks, but I'm clearing out some of the archive in lieu of sorting out my image/negs filing system. (As well as getting a whole heap of recent stuff developed and scanned, so that I can start afresh.) Thanks for bearing with me...
The Second Day
Another Take 4.57 Mb7-16-2022 10:03:54 AM
Size given is of the image as taken, sans editing.
This 360/720 panorama is one image of four taken of the same room at 4 different times on two successive days on Camano Island, Washington. I have already posted the first two images in the series. This is the third. This particular picture is Another Take.
With this 360/720 panorama, I experimented with painting to make editing corrections, rather than trying to duplicate the photographic reality. This image also had a lot of built-in distortion due to the fisheye lens, and where the camera was placed when I began the shoot.
What is important about these spherical panoramas is that they mirror how people actually see. There is always something above, below and in front of and behind you whether the picture records it or not. These Camano Island panos do.
To experience this room as all 25 of us attending the reunion did, it is best viewed with a VR headset.
Just another lonesome tree on the ridgeline. This one shot with the Pentax 6x7 fitted with the 75mm f/4.5 lens.
Rather more morose than my previous one.
Blaenavon community woodland, from the bit I call the Enchanted Forest
I got another shot of this '83 VW Rabbit GTI, in case the first one didn't come out. Here you can see a bit of the front end. Yes, those are square headlights, used on virtually all U.S.-made Rabbits.
The driver's seat was a Recaro, but the rest of the seats were stock - and the front passenger seat was pretty chewed up. I suspect that this car could be an ongoing restoration project. :-)
Despite having a relatively small skein, I am quite happy with how this one turned out. The two-tone throwing arm looks really nice, the "gears" for the skein are easy to produce and function well (with one or two minor changes for the next one)... I do believe I might be ready to make a pencil-shooting ballista now :-D
another Overdrive Magazine Dodge trucks ad, this one shows the super rare 200 inch wheel base that was an option.
