I buy my TP at Sam's Club in the huge 36 roll Jumbo Pack, so that I don't need to buy it frequently. I also buy a major name brand because I like 2 ply and softness. I don't mind paying extra to have those bonuses. Today I opened up a brand new package and to my great dismay, I discovered that they had reduced the sheet size dramatically! I find this to be a travesty! I repeat, my a$$ is NOT amused.

Grape served with a "dash" of foie gras on top

The amuse bouche was a super light steak tartare with frisee, the corn biscuits were incredibly buttery and the tortilla chips went perfect with the slightly sweet white bean puree

It's a appetiser on its own. This restaurant is so promising, and indeed it got its first star in the Michelin 2013. (via Foodspotting)

My self-assigment today was focusing on textures that happened to come my way. I found myself at a boat repair yard in rural Tennessee right after a brief rain. The setting was very industrial and...er, workman-like, with boats and bits strewn about a crowded space. But as I started to macro, what a wealth of weathered textures and wet surfaces!

These rocks were glazed in oil and water, and it brought out their charm. On first glance, it was just gravel, but when the lens got closer, it was a whole world of stones and ripples. The large size image really shows their character.

Speaking of characters, the owner of the boat shop was one. He was amused as I went around snapping, but also interested, saying, "You intrigue me" and wanting to see why I was aiming at certain places in the yard. He was such a good sport. I think I'll take some of these and print a little collage, so he can see his day-to-day world in a different light.
