This is actually a shot from last year that never got uploaded. Right now it's raining here. We've had gray skies, rain, fog. The last of our only real snow has washed away. More possible next week though.......
This is makeup + processing. The effort required to clean my face afterwards deserves a mention.

odc - Altered
To my delight this photograph by Richard Misrach shown as part of the current "Altered Landscape" Exhibit at the Nevada Museum of Art transported me back to 1990. I joined my friends on the Black Rock Desert to play croquet on the playa. We had these gigantic balls,constructed pvc piping to be used for gates, and our trucks were used as mallets. And with that, we played crochet. It was one of the best weekends ever.

A symbol of the United States Capitol becomes a mirage of mythical creatures fabricated of elaborately carved white steel. Each cut is rendered in the archetypical graphic style of Pacific Northwest Coast Indian imagery.
Stepping into a cage of white lace, the interior space vaults overhead, as a ladder of carved white swings descends from above. Eagle and feather imagery cover the walls. Together these elements suggest the set of an elaborate birdcage, placed ironically and symbolically within the framework of a colonialist political power symbol. Yet, as one ascends the swings, every platform reveals the wisdom of a different Indian Nation carved into the seats. This tangible union of opposites offers itself as a gathering space to ruminate on the origin of American "civilization" amidst the enduring dignity and vision of it's Native Peoples. A government building is transformed into an Altered State.
This is the UMM Alter II, a Portuguese all terrain vehicle.
Portugal was never famous for its auto industry, this being one of the most successful ones.
They were produced from 1986 to mid-nineties, used Peugeot engines and many can still be found on our roads. This is the short soft top version.
About the model, it has doors and hood that open, engine, detailed interiors, steering and rear suspension.

Um dos mais famosos exemplos da indústria automóvel portuguesa.
Foram produzidos desde 1986 até meio dos anos 90, usavam motores Peugeot e muitos ainda podem ser encontrados nas nossas estradas. Esta é a versão curta soft top com capota em lona.
Sobre o modelo, tem portas que abrem, motos, interiores detalhados e suspensão traseira.

well this is a dress that I altered from jet rag vintage for 1$! I had to do alot of resizing, pleating, and had to completly re-do the collar. but I really love it.

View On Black So beautiful when viewed large
Visiting the train station when it's pouring rain outside reveals another side of this monolith. The building makes so much noise from all the leaks in the building that it leaves you sort of paranoid. You're always wondering if a sound you just heard was somebody's footsteps or if it was just the rain, especially as you wander its halls alone. As I came near the ticket booth, there was a gigantic pool of water about three inches deep that was making this beautiful reflection. I'm very sure this hasn't been recorded before and I'm so glad I got wet and messy to see Michigan Central Station in this new dimension!

For a swap at ATCsforall.com. This is an altered Altoid-type tin with a steampunk theme.
For the right inside I used Alves Apoxie clay and lined the surface of the rectangular box, creating a little niche to hug the round tin. The round tin is a wedding favor with a clear plastic lid. I lined that with irridescent crinkle paper. The picture of the man is from an old National Geographic. I glued it to the plastic lid with Diamond Glaze.
Before the clay was dry I pressed tiny gears and watch hands into the surface, along with the metal bird charm. Then I washed the dry clay with several layers of acrylic paints, and some sparkly blue craft glue.
I altered the round tin using acrylic paint and faux patina. There are shiny brass colored flat beads along the top of the round tin. The decoration on the top of the rectangle is from an old coffee pot lid. I threaded beads and a charm on jewelry wire, and twisted some more wire to hold the wind-up key.
On the left I used layers of paper plus a vintage ticket. The letters are plastic -- they already had a great vintage look, I thought. The heart charm was altered wtih paint and patina. This side is sealed with Diamond Glaze.
