These images are from two very similar projects that I've just helped my friends with. They want to be able to hold bike frames on their alignment tables by the head tube. They both purchased used bench centers, and we had to make bull nose centers for them.

The fit up needed to be very close, so we were working to within a few tenths.

The other complication was that one of the centers on each set was spring loaded and utilized a rack and pinion to withdraw it... so we had to mill those rack gears.

The Superpro caster offset bushings netted almost a full degree more of caster vs stock! I'm pretty happy about that.

Looking East from Powder House Lane along the alignment of the Heysham - M6 Link Road, which will cross these fields before bridging the West Coast Main Line railway which is visible in the distance. Behing the hedge on the right of the picture is Barley Cop Lane, the crematorium being on the other side of that road. Looking at maps of the road scheme it appears that the section of Powder House Lane on which I'm standing will be colsed with the lane diverted to ran paralell with the new road then passing under the new road alongside the railway.

This morning I observed the grand alignment of planets!

In general, alignments of planets are pretty common for us, but this year we could see a rare combination. All planets that we can see with naked eye (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn) are aligned this month in the same order as they lie from the Sun.

Meanwhile, there are Uranus and Neptune in the same area of the sky I could capture as tiny tiny dots in the picture. I’m not sure Instagram would even resolve them here, but I made some captions so that you know where planets are.

Unfortunately there is no Mercury in that picture. Well, it’s kind of in the frame though, but was covered by the trees at the time of capturing. However, I observed it with naked eye later this morning.

You can spot the bright Moon between Venus and Mars, and, in my opinion, it takes a cool position in the picture because it can represent “our planet” in the sky.

If you missed the alignment this morning, you still have some time to look at it during the next few days.

The screw located behind the mirror is for rangefinder vertical alignment. It tilts the mirror forward or backward. The reflected rangefinder patch will be too high when the mirror tllts too backwards and vice versa.

Now that really looks good. And I can now use the A Guide Number setting.

The is the corner of the vehicle that impacted the home.

The couplers between the transmission and gear box is off just by a bit.... the ruler should sit level on the two.

I'm finally getting down to posting pictures from my Route 66 road trip in July of 2013. My wife, Theresa went with me this time.

When traveling the Mother Road, I try to drive on all alignments. Some are interesting, others not so much. This alignment south of Albuquerque I didn't find all that interesting. But at least I can say I've been on it. Albuquerque itself is one of the richest segments on Route 66 for picture opportunities. I have made two trips to Albuquerque and still not photographed everything I'd like to.

The ePHD/ADD domains of SPBP and RAI1 are conserved in evolution.(A) Alignment of the putative ePHD/ADD domain of SPBP and RAI1 in mammalia, reptiles, birds, amphibians, fishes and insect. Cysteine and histidine residues that may serve as zinc-ligands are indicated by numbers above the alignment. The long loop region between zinc ligands 2 and 3 in all species is excluded from the alignment, but indicated above. The regions encompassing the putative GATA-1 like finger and the PHD finger are indicated above, while the Loop1, Loop2 and Loop3 indicated below are loop structures generally found in PHD fingers. The conserved Tryptophan units used to select blasted sequences are indicated by arrows, while amino acids probably involved in Smith-Magenis syndrome are encircled. Two of the RAI1 sequences (A.carolinensis and L.chalumnae) are truncated in the C-terminal end probably due to sequencing errors. The threshold for shading in manually refined Clustal W sequence alignment was set to 50% using BLOSUM 62 scoring matrix. (B) Phylogenetic tree of the ePHD/ADD domains of SPBP and RAI1 proteins. The phylogenetic tree was constructed by Mega5 software using the maximum likelihood method. Numbers in the branch represents the bootstrap values. Background color coding is used to represent species which possess SPBP (blue), RAI1 (pink) and uncharacterized SPBP/RAI1 like proteins (green). The phylogenetic tree is based on selected protein sequences from representative vertebrate organisms (e.g. Homo sapiens represent Mammalia). (C) The evolutionary tree of the ePHD/ADD domains of SPBP and RAI1 proteins. The alignment of all sequences is shown in Supporting information, Figure S1 and the protein sequence accession numbers are provided in the Supporting information, Table S3.

Sagittarius is the fiery sign of the archer, symbol of single-minded attention. It teaches us to direct all our forces to one purpose, the goal of our life. On the spiritual path, the bow and arrow stand for the meditative discipline of lifting up the energies to the higher centres and to align one’s own will to the divine Will.

For the visualisation of the divine Will I chose a representation of the Lord of the Divine Will: I took the face of a statue of Shiva on the banks of the River Ganges in Rishikesh, India. I cleared it from other symbolisms and placed a bow and an arrow over the bust. With the help of photos of the sun and of a lotus I created the Sahasrara, the thousand-petalled lotus over the head, the target of the alignment, the connection to the higher worlds.

For the string and the lower part of the bust I created shapes of bluish flames, expressing the electric tension of the fiery alignment. I emphasized it by intensifying the colours.

I know it's november when my satellite dish casts a shadow on the X on my shed. Since I don't have a satellite subscription that's about all it's good for.

last night's alignment of the crescent moon, Mercury, and Venus over San Francisco

After a good series of storms came through the area, I decided to get out and photograph a small section of the North End of the NorthWestern Pacific Railroad. I stayed within the Cloverdale, CA., area but these are the various stages of decay of the railroad.
