Two of Indiana Railroad’s SD9043ACs sit in the “Dixie Siding” awaiting their crew; soon they will be hauling the string of empty coal cars back to mine in the Southern Indiana area for refilling. “Dixie Siding” siding is located 1-mile south of the Indianapolis Power & Light generating plant; the destination of the cars when filled. The 18 SD9043MAC units that roam the INRD are on a long-term lease from the CITX Leasing Group; they are also used on the “Hiawatha” container stack trains between Indianapolis and the Hiawatha Yards near Jasonville, Indiana.
