I recently had the opportunity to shoot still photographs at the Peekskill Fencing Center. The tournament was held, at the center, on May 12, 2012. This tournament was for the under 12 and the under 15. I had never been to a fencing tournament. I was very impressed with the dynamic nature of the sport. I was also impressed with the sportsmanship displayed by many of the young competitors.
I shot mostly with the Sigma 70-200f2.8. A few were shots taken with the Nikon 50mm f1.4, the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 and the Nikon 35mm f1.8 lens. I used available light for most of these shots, a few of the award photos were done with on camera fill flash.
I used music from the "TRON Legacy" soundtrack, "End of Line" by Daft Punk. I wanted a tune that would move the slides at a good pace with a modern and upbeat tempo. I find choosing music for video or slides to be quite difficult. If you can think of another tune, please let me know. It's late and I am going to stop while my eyes can still focus.
Landscape near Stavnstrup and Leestrup, Sealand, Denmark. I used a camera with an Astrotracer to avoid showing stars as lines in stead of circles. Pentax K-1 (with Astrotracer), FA 2.0 24mm. ISO 200 f/4 3 minutes twice. I know this is not "real" astro photography, since the rotating sensor is not "polar aligned" - it doesn't rotate around an axis parallel to that og the Earth, like a real sky tracker would. Still, it's great fun photographing the starry sky :-)
