Looks like something alien, huh? :)
I saw this in London Zoo and was mesmerized by the cool color. Talk about "Pimp My Jellyfish". The water around the jellyfish was originally blue (from the light) but I darkened it to emphasize the jellyfish. Hope you liked it.
An Alien Queen landed on Earth, but people are only able to speculate on her intentions...
Alien Invasion, episode 7:
The Alien Queen started scouring the land and never paid any attention to the human forces that tried to attack her, as she was being protected by an invisible force field. No man-made weapon was able to get through... But her behavior puzzled everyone even more, she wasn't attacking anyone, she looked like she was searching for something... Some thought that she was looking for this planet's leaders to parlay, but when a few of them tried to intercept her and make their existence known, she just ignored them too!
Then everything became clear. Alas, her plans were even more sinister than we had originally thought! She chose a suitable location and started ovipositing! Yes, she was laying hundreds of eggs in a huge ootheca (egg-case) that was made of a foam that came out of her abdomen along the eggs and, when hardened, it formed a rock-solid casing, apparently impenetrable, that would protect her spawn until hatched. We humans are only meant to serve as the primary food source for the new alien breed, we'll be the substance that will help them grow and wreck havoc on this planet and then on other worlds, too. We're doomed...
Or aren't we? Scientists came together to discuss the matter. The alien's egg-laying is apparently a long process as the queen seems to be taking her time, after all she has all the time in the world, as no-one can't bother her. This gives us time to think about the matter and make plans, but first and foremost we need all the information we can get about this egg-case we're up against, in order to try and destroy it before the eggs hatch! Scientists need to analyze photos of the making of this egg-case, to better understand how it's structure, find potential weaknesses... But who is brave enough to approach the queen, while she's still ovipositing, and shoot close-ups of the ootheca on the making?
To be continued...

A gadget I got Dave for Xmas: you can record a ten-second message, and it then plays it back when the motion-detector senses something.

In the glittering dark of the galaxy there spins a worthless remote planet. Its inhospitable craggy surface only matched by the poison in its air. Above, orbits a silent corporate branded haven. The Vitruvius Space Station.
Inside, a lone technician stares in horror at the bank of security screens. A facade of life lurks in a distant hallway, silently waiting. Unnervingly still, it calculates its next opening to strike.
Long had the Weyland-Yutani Corporation tried and failed to manipulate the bio engineering practices of the xenomorph species. Long had they known failure.
However, another idea of malicious obsession arose. The company already had a sizable investment in synthetic androids to maintain authority on stations, ships, and colonies. Perhaps if the creatures’ behavior is what led to such prior loss of containment, a ground up rebuild would be necessary.
Building the prototype was relatively simple. The organic brain scanned and copied. The duplicate manufactured and tweaked to respond to company programming. Nurture would supplant nature.
What they had not known, is that in the digital sequencing, the strange Chemical A0-3959X.91 would be included within the synthetic genome. What they had not noticed, was the slow and methodical corruption of their next ‘perfect’ experiment.
The black goo had transcended organics. A self evolving and degenerating sentience within the machine. A virus. The reversion back to mimicry of its base animal instincts took little time. For the science crew, loss of control was all the quicker.
Out of the maddening quiet comes a shrieking din. A proximity alarm. A new ship prepares its docking harness. The cybernetic creature stirs for the first time in what feels like an eternity. Its mechanical frame shudders as it begins the hunt for its next kill.
Inspired by a weekend rewatch of all the alien movies and finally seeing ALIEN: Romulus
If the aliens ever come to earth which I seriously hope they do at some point, I reckon that Los Angeles would be high on their places to visit.
If Independence Day were a documentary it would be fair to say that they did come to earth and killed everyone a few hundred metres to the left of this shot (4th Street overpass in downtown LA).
Alien Coffee Klatch well officer when I walked into my double wide I saw these two strange glowing fellers sittin on the couch drinking coffee and Mawmaw and her chihuahua was kinda hoverin' in the air with a blank look, so I grabbed my Polaroid and took this here pitcher, that's the last I remember...look on the back maybe they signed it?
‎"All you can do is smile" said the balsamic vinegar to the olive oil as their white alien friend (reflected on the left hand side) told them a joke about a power outage that lasted more than a week in NJ during Nov of 2011 .... when I took this photo at a friend's house, who was lucky to have electricity, I was still waiting for the electricity people to finish their restoration efforts in our area. Between us, this is a sad joke!

Alien She
Sep 3, 2015 â Jan 9, 2016
Alien She, curated by Astria Suparak + Ceci Moss, is the first exhibition to examine the lasting impact of Riot Grrrl on artists and cultural producers working today. A pioneering punk feminist movement that emerged in the early 1990s, Riot Grrrl has had a pivotal influence, inspiring many around the world to pursue socially and politically progressive careers as artists, activists, authors and educators. Emphasizing female and youth empowerment, collaborative organization, creative resistance and DIY ethics, Riot Grrrl helped a new generation to become active feminists and create their own culture and communities that reflect their values and experiences, in contrast to mainstream conventions and expectations.
Riot Grrrl formed in reaction to pervasive and violent sexism, racism and homophobia in the punk music scene and in the culture at large. Its participants adapted strategies from earlier queer and punk feminisms and â70s radical politics, while also popularizing discussions of identity politics occurring within academia, but in a language that spoke to a younger generation. This self-organized network made up of teenagers and twenty-somethings reached one another through various platforms, such as letters, zines, local meetings, regional conferences, homemade videos, and later, chat rooms, listservs and message boards. The movement eventually spread worldwide, with chapters opening in at least thirty-two states and twenty-six countries.* Its ethos and aesthetics have survived well past its initial period in the â90s, with many new chapters forming in recent years. Riot Grrrlâs influence on contemporary global culture is increasingly evident â from the Russian collective Pussy Riotâs protest against corrupt government-church relations to the popular teen website Rookie and the launch of Girls Rock Camps and Ladyfest music and art festivals around the world.
Alien
Alien Queen from Mcfarlane toys that was released a few years back. I had her sitting in a box and just dusted her off to take a few shots. These 2 were the best of the bunch.
This alien face sculpture is original and sculpted by me, Jane. He has many colors of swirling strands of cosmic energy on his face. These strands are made of twisted polymer clay. They undulate and seem to vibrate with energy. As I understand it, the colors and shapes convey his feelings and thoughts.
His eyes are made from clear glass cabochons. I hand painted the back of the glass to get the effect I wanted. His eyes look a glistening green! This alien's face changes with the light and angle that you view him with! He does look a little scarey, but he is really a pretty nice alien.
This one is the most impressive so far, except that the two spacecraft near the ground are so close to the ground they are in danger of touching the ground. And flying at right angles towards each other, they would most likely collide (or crash into the structures beyond). And in any case only one spacecraft was asked for in the prompt... But the image is very impressive overall.

A follow-up on the progress to the Warrior Alien head sculpt. ALIENS 86 - 1:18 scale. Some smart phone shots showing the sculpt from several angles - still a work in progress. Should have it complete tonight.
The torso you see here will be a total re-sculpt....presently it's a casting from the Revoltech figure. Helps with scaling/proportion. The lower abdomen piece however is a cast of an original sculpt from my 79 Alien. I can get away with using it for the Warrior but the upper torso will be a complete, original re-sculpt as I hate borrowing parts when I have the ability to create them myself these days....
If you have the ability and time, sculpt it.
I still have to borrow articulated joints and extremities such as hands from time to time...especially with the human figures, but when I can sculpt it myself I will do so...
...and with the Warrior alien finally moving forward, others are sure to follow...Ripley, Marines, Newt, Burke, Bishop.....Queen(cough,cough)....
Just a quick shot with my iPhone of some of the work accomplished over the last week or so. Two Alien "posed" figures and the Warrior build. I have some time this weekend to complete the sculpt of the Alien Warrior torso, possibly the upper and lower arms as well. All 1:18 scale. ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎aliens‬ ‪#‎warrior‬ ‪#‎xenomorph‬ ‪#‎art‬ ‪#‎sculpting‬ ‪#‎miniatures‬ ‪#‎figures‬ ‪#‎giger‬ ‪#‎nostromo‬
