Yay, it's here! The alien spaceships are super retro-tastic, and that the walker is a tripod is brilliant. 7066 takes the cake, the best space set in a long time, and not only because of the nnenn tribute.
Alien Visitor number two is a more common “gray” type, and I set him down in New Mexico. The figure was sculpted by Mike Cusanelli who sold it as a resin piece under his early Ridwolf label as “Mars Man”. This was a straight painting job stuck to a base along with a big Aurora rock and a piece of lichen.
Completed in 1996.
A little funny thing I made. A LEGO alien abduction. If you like this check out some of my other pics! Thanks!
One of those nights you go out, brave the cold wind, come home with good hopes, just to find out the focus wasn't just right..... Bummer. So hard to get a good focus when it is so dark...
To make this weird alien doll I combined two dollar store finds, a stuffed toy and a china doll, then I hand embroidered the whole thing. --- 'cause sometimes, you know, you just gotta do weird.
The Hudson & Vasquez figures are from NECA. The cocooned victim is part of McFarlane's Queen Alien set.

Alien She
Sep 3, 2015 – Jan 9, 2016
Alien She, curated by Astria Suparak + Ceci Moss, is the first exhibition to examine the lasting impact of Riot Grrrl on artists and cultural producers working today. A pioneering punk feminist movement that emerged in the early 1990s, Riot Grrrl has had a pivotal influence, inspiring many around the world to pursue socially and politically progressive careers as artists, activists, authors and educators. Emphasizing female and youth empowerment, collaborative organization, creative resistance and DIY ethics, Riot Grrrl helped a new generation to become active feminists and create their own culture and communities that reflect their values and experiences, in contrast to mainstream conventions and expectations.
Riot Grrrl formed in reaction to pervasive and violent sexism, racism and homophobia in the punk music scene and in the culture at large. Its participants adapted strategies from earlier queer and punk feminisms and ‘70s radical politics, while also popularizing discussions of identity politics occurring within academia, but in a language that spoke to a younger generation. This self-organized network made up of teenagers and twenty-somethings reached one another through various platforms, such as letters, zines, local meetings, regional conferences, homemade videos, and later, chat rooms, listservs and message boards. The movement eventually spread worldwide, with chapters opening in at least thirty-two states and twenty-six countries.* Its ethos and aesthetics have survived well past its initial period in the ‘90s, with many new chapters forming in recent years. Riot Grrrl’s influence on contemporary global culture is increasingly evident – from the Russian collective Pussy Riot’s protest against corrupt government-church relations to the popular teen website Rookie and the launch of Girls Rock Camps and Ladyfest music and art festivals around the world.
Alien She focuses on seven people whose visual art practices were informed by their contact with Riot Grrrl. Many of them work in multiple disciplines, such as sculpture, installation, video, documentary film, photography, drawing, printmaking, new media, social practice, curation, music, writing and performance – a reflection of the movement’s artistic diversity and mutability. Each artist is represented by several projects from the last 20 years, including new and rarely seen works, providing an insight into the development of their creative practices and individual trajectories.

Went through the pics and had to add one more. I had watered my flowers and never even noticed him. At first I though he was a leaf that was half eaten.
If I had to pick my top five best science fiction movies of all-time, I think Alien would be in there, and perhaps also the sequel, Aliens. I love the second one a lot, there was just so much awesome action and memorable lines ("Game over man, game over!") but the first one was a classic. A terrifying trip with some space travelers who are being slaughtered by a creature hitching a ride on their vessel.
For those that have seen Alien, you may already have figured out why I chose it for this week's Movie Title Wednesday image. One of the more haunting scenes in the movie is when they find the alien spaceship and rappel into the belly of the thing. Lining the floor in a mist are all these organic pods, which just happen to be eggs ready to own your face.
Kind of reminded me of the rocks floating in the foggy ocean in my image.
This photo was taken on the Oregon coast in an area known as Boiler Bay. I left my hotel well before the sun came up that morning and used Google Maps to find a spot about an hour north. I came across Boiler Bay and waited until there was enough light to hike down a fairly steep trail to the beach below. I was surprised I found the spot at all...it was a tiny little pull-out on the side of the road and I barely saw it in the dark.
Glad I did.
I believe this was one of my last shots of the morning before I had to book it to Portland and catch a noon flight. I was lucky enough to have perfectly overcast skies to keep my images moody just like I wanted. This particular exposure was done with a 10-stop and lasted just over 10 minutes. Thanks again to Rick Young for letting me borrow his filter.
I badly want to return to the coast of Oregon sometime, perhaps for a week or two. There is just so much to see, so many skies and sunsets to capture with the gorgeous, rocky shoreline.
Sculpt update on the Alien Warrior - ALIENS 86 - 1:18 scale. Alternate head sculpt with mouth open. The final will feature the inner jaw exposed within. This is the same lower jaw sculpt I used with the 79 Alien - works well! Will require some additional sculpting to hold jaw in place - currently held in place with some was clay. #aliens #xenomorph #alienwarrior #warrior
Spotted in Winkle Street in Old Town Southampton a modified street sign. Plenty more of the unique 'faces' along the walls here too, attributed to Street artist J_Ace.

Believe - SeaWorld Orlando

The same as Cello Heads but de-saturated with a small amount of color added using the color curves, just to enhance the picture a little bit. A suggestion was made that they looked a bit alien, so the name has had a little change... Also it has been noted that the bottom left one looks a little sinister....
And a rare scene emerged from the woods. The Alien was greeted by "The Cacophony Society", a random gathering of individuals united in the pursuit of experiences beyond the pale of mainstream society through subversion, pranks, art, fringe explorations and meaningless madness. The Empress can be relieved. Her telepathic radar found the mark. She hit the nail on the head. After an exhausting; very tiring; arduously severe; grueling adventure, the Alien has finally found rest. The Society has an obscure member who claims that he can lead The Alien home. Can this be true?
