PostFX through Lightroom (noise reduction, gamma&exposure, levels).
I felt like going back and fixing and remaking this image, for I really love it and it does benefit from the resampling and correction.
Very close view of a succulent plant (Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi?) - Another product of the day I was playing with new extension tube kit for macro - thanks to Black&W
YOU MUST! View On Black ;-)
The second of two semi-static posed figures is complete. This version depicts the creature as it appears in the deleted "crab-walker" scene from the 1979 film as Lambert and Parker make a desperate attempt to escape the Nostromo. This deleted scene however was thought comical by many, not well executed on film and revealed too much of the creature...reducing it to nothing more than a man in a rubber suit...something Ridley Scott was avoiding by using smoke and shadow.
Hand sculpted, hand painted. 1:18 scale. I borrowed resin cast parts from the original Alien figure I created a year earlier, made modifications to the torso, neck, shoulders
and legs.
When crouched or "crab walking", the figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. When standing, the figure is approx. 5.25" high, still not fully erect as the leg and hip joints limit the full motion (again, this was originally meant to be a static posed figure). Fortunately I was able to add several articulation points to the figure: Ball jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable. The tail is static but is attached using a revoltech joint and can be switched out with a longer tail option.
Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

Created for the 2012 Lego Military Annual Build Competition. Didn't make the cut in my Battlefield 2056 dio dude to it's lack of similarity to the other alien drones. I am fond of the design but it doesn't fit in with the circular theme. I also don't care for those ugly printed bits >:p Anyways, hope that this will show some extra effort in the contest. Hope you all like it!
Today's story and sketch "by me" is the first chapter of
"Alien RVs". These stories and sketches will be about the new alien vacation phenomenon taking place on Earth, by the dozens of Alien races who are visiting Earth and taking slow relaxing vacations in Vintage Recreational Vehicles that have been converted by the boys at B&R Off Road. When they say off road they really mean off road, (as in no road needed) due to the Anti Gravity Anion Drive conversions like the 1946 Zepher Pull Along, you see being test piloted by Rescue Randy, which still sports the original roof top Swamp Cooler, it has been upgraded with state of the art innards with Gofish Brothers Recreational Vehicle Parts and important Bits, like heating and cooling, moon pie ovens and all of the other necessary items for long camping trips. In upcoming chapters you will see and learn more about the optional equipment and anti gravity drives in some very interesting and cool looking Camp trailers and vintage RVs. When these Alien RVs are off the grid they are really off the grid and the road. I will be following some of them to beautiful locations not only in the US, like today's sketch in the Anza Borrego Desert, but also around the Earth and possibly around the Galaxy.
Until next time taa ta the Rod Blog.
An angry alien cloud appears ready to devour a farmstead. Photo taken in the Red River Valley near Moorhead, Minnesota.

"Are you ever going to paint any of your aliens?"....Yes! Yes I am! Here's a quick shot of a finished piece. Much more to come smile emoticon ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎aliens‬ ‪#‎nostromo‬ ‪#‎alien79‬ ‪#‎xenomorph‬ ‪#‎bigchap‬ ‪#‎giger‬ ‪#‎painting‬
A quick shot of some resin pulls for Alien Warrior pieces. I have the lower torsos in the works now. Next step will be sculpting the arms. Nothing cleaned up - just some rough pulls and again, quick shot with the smartphone...not the best quality. ‪#‎aliens‬ ‪#‎alienwarrior‬ ‪#‎casting‬ ‪#‎smoothon‬ ‪#‎xenomorph‬ ‪#‎hive‬
This is another purist creation:D. This is the big Alien in the Alien movies. It is all my design except the tail was based off of Crimson Wolf's.
Alien Assimilators is an imaginative project which features a unique series of LEGO creations depicting extraterrestrial life and technology.
Story:
Its the year 2033, the mankind is struggling to survive after a overwhelming alien invasion. It is not known where the aliens came from or what they want, but they seem to be interested in harvesting all the biological life forms they find in their way. The invaders came with gigantic ships that are still patrolling above the devastated cities. They are continually planting strange massive structures which are slowly changing the earth’s atmosphere to make it habitable for their own. Hiding and ill from the changing of the atmosphere, the remaining humans are taking shelter under the ruined cities and those who are in condition to fight are organizing resistance groups in hope to repel the invaders occupation. It’s a hard war for mankind as their resistance makes a little difference in confronting the invaders. The alien forces are growing stronger and stronger with each biological life they harvest and assimilate.
About the Alien technology:
- It has the ability to regenerate and heal over time. (it must assimilate first in order to do so)
- It has the ability to take form/mutate into a combat unit or device.
- Each mutation differs from one to another depending on the type of the assimilated life form/species.
- Compatible and easily combined with mechanical parts.
Shots of my NECA aliens figures. Some Photoshop adjustments in brightness/contrast & colour balance. Film grain was also added. Taken on my Nikon D7000.
Have you ever wondered how a certain set would look like if it was built not for playing, but for look? I did, but I never thought I would do it myself. Yet here is the 7050 Alien Defender, even more awesome than before! It has better functioning weapons en wheels (by the way, they're made out of heads) and other upgraded stuff, like rear- and headlights.
Sorry I didn't uploaded for a while, I was very busy with school and my camera went on holiday ;)
