High ISO and a large crop but I like the way it looks like the goldcrest is sheltering from the snow, such a cute little face. I saw two today and one of them was doing a funny little display with its wings, dunno if it was agression or an invite.....I'm still struggling to catch up, bear with me please : )

A Japanese Soldier is staring out in the sunset along with his fellow comrades during the Second Sino-Japanese War, a war between the Empire Of Japan And The Republic Of China.
This picture is part of an photo series I made, called: ‘’City Of Darkness’’ A photo series that depicts various social issues using LEGO as an medium to depict it. The social issue depicted here is ‘’war of aggression’’ or war in general for the sake of aggressive warfare without an proper reason. The reason why an Japanese soldier is depicted is because when people think of war of aggression, they’re mostly assosated wiht the Nazi’s during the Second World War. This however is a different case as the Imperial Japanese Army conducted an aggressive warfare strategy over Asia. In exchange of raw materials they stole from their conquested areas. The colours used in this shot symbolism the war colours of the rising sun, which is associated with Japan. It also symbolism that this war of aggression was the only hope for Japan to truly flourish which was not the case.
Overall I’m pretty happy how this shot turned out, with the lighting and such. Overall this soldier has also a name: Takeo Okamoto. He eventually died during the war during the battle of Changde, full believing in the Japanese cause, while his death was all for nothing as he died for an fools dream of absolute Japanese supremacy in Asia.
A brickfilm about the Second Sino-Japanese War was made that eventually inspired this picture and the entire concept.

These cats are absolutely stunning but I actually pondered for a long time about whether or not to post this shot. I remember from my childhood when I want to museums and all the animals would be stuffed with those menacing expressions. Even completely harmless animals had their teeth bared for all to see. The agression displayed was often a misleading indication of the nature of the beast. Obviously a tiger is a big, mean meat eating machine but there's more to this animal than just menacing teeth....

This place is currently the site of a very large hill. It was not always a hill! Multiple studies show that the soot and mud that built up in the past 2000 years collapsed and encased the actual tomb and plant life grew over it. The original tomb would have been an entire castle complete with all the servants and even a large defending army made of terracotta. According to legend, a replica model of the entirety of china was built at its center.
The Ch'in (Qin) Emperor was obsessed with the thought that his life may end some day. Ironically having killed countless people during his campaigns to conquer the 6 kingdoms; towards the middle of his life he finally succumbed to the reality that he may too someday be in the ground.
One account says that he originally wanted to take his entire entourage along with his entire real army with him to fend off any enemies he had sent to the underworld! His minister persuaded him to reconsider and proposed a terracotta army complete with soldiers bolstered to 6 feet instead. Artisans were brought in from many different states to work the clay. There was a rumor that during construction, the emperor was dissatisfied with the faces and body type of the statues and saw their likeness being from different places in his kingdom. He declared that all their likeness' be of the Ch'in soldier and none from the defeated states. He ordered the statues to be destroyed and new ones erected.
There are about 6000 known terracotta soldiers and a select number of horse and chariot sets in the tomb. This does not include all the workers and servants who were buried after the tomb was complete to protect it's location from being known.
Each figure was fired at about 1000 degrees centigrade for several days - explaining their permanence. The heads were fired separately from the torsos and legs (there are stumps to connect the parts). Most were found broken due to the pressures of being buried in close proximity to each other. One of the original farmers who discovered the first statue - Yang Zhifa recounted to our horror that they had smashed a few while digging a well for water! They dug several wells and all of them turned out these evil looking statues. The farmers feared the spirits in these statues and destroyed the ones they saw. Eventually they called in the local party leader who told them to stop immediately.
Today, this site is now a UNESCO world heritage.

At Eagle Point Park this morning in Harrison Mills the Bald Eagles were more aggressive than I have ever seen them. Several times I saw Eagles knock each other over and a couple times they latched onto claws and dumped the opponent in the water. Some chases went on longer than I have ever seen them do. The water level is very low and perhaps not enough fish are able to get upriver to feed the Bald Eagles. When looking out over the distant sand bars there were many fewer Bald Eagles than a week ago. Some had moved up to Chehalis Flats and were feeding there. I wish I had done video because there was so much going on and it was hard to keep an eye on it.
...Sometimes I wish I was a Hulk...

Little did I know that I was intruding on this mute swan’s territory while standing on the bank of Swan Lake at Berry College. It is Berry College’s territory after all. Tell that to this swan and he will have a different opinion.
This gesturing is called 'busking" and is part of the beginning of a mute swan’s threat posture. It can escalate into wing flapping and the swan tucking its long neck into its lifted feathers for protection as it charges towards the intruder.
I was there to photograph him, not to ruffle his feathers!
