I was leading an Edmonton Nature Club butterfly walk at Elk Island National Park when this guy crossed the parkway road to the field we were in and checked us out.
He showed no agression, just mild curiosity, before casually walking to a nearby trail.
With something this big, a 180 mm lens can work quite well.

This cute robin had been attacked by one of its predators who cost him a paw, the poor must have suffered from pain and hunger for a long time, at first glance today it looks good stand....

This is actually the third bout of aggression between two Pigeon Guillemots. I first noticed what I felt to be a female Guillemot that seemed to be receptive. The head was first held high and then the head was close to the water with butt raised. This Guillemot was with two other Guillemots. These two faced each other while swimming and then the aggression began.

The Charge of the Anti-Crime Squad
Rouen (France) - The anti-crime brigade in action in a street in Rouen. In a demonstration of the Yellow Vests, thugs were spotted as they attack shop windows. This unit intervenes in a lightning operation to arrest the suspects. After a chase in the narrow streets of the historic city center, the arrests were tough.
When the BAC intervenes in the context of urban riots, it is not there to negotiate. Some deplore it, but its mission is to identify, neutralize and arrest.
Apart from violent protests where it intervenes in support of law enforcement services, this brigade is assigned to patrols on public roads in search of flagrant offenses, such as theft. These patrols are regularly deployed in so-called "sensitive" neighborhoods. For having followed them as part of a TV report, it is better not to provoke them; they are experts in combat sports.

Posting tonight as I am hoping to get away early tomorrow if conditions allow.
The last post had a House Finch and House Sparrow, both young and getting along well in the rain. Here an older sparrow has caused a bit of a rucus as a House Finch appears to be thinking, "Hey buddy, what's up? I have not done anything." At least that is the way I saw it. The House Finch was simply perched besides the House Sparrow.
Even though the tail feathers are clipped here, I am thrilled to have got this shot. So much better than a simple static shot (although I like them as well, but not as much) Action and behaviour, in my opinion can be of poor technical quality as long as the behaviour is interesting. I would love to hav emore shots like this, behavioural shots that is, not necessarily shots with an aggressor.

The European paper wasp (Polistes dominula) is one of the most common and well-known species of social wasps in the genus Polistes. Its diet is more diverse than those of most Polistes species—many genera of insects versus mainly caterpillars in other Polistes—giving it superior survivability compared to other wasp species during a shortage of resources.
The dominant females are the principal egg layers, while the subordinate females ("auxiliaries") or workers primarily forage and do not lay eggs. This hierarchy is not permanent, though; when the queen is removed from the nest, the second-most dominant female takes over the role of the previous queen.[1] Dominance in females is determined by the severity of the scatteredness in the coloration of the clypeus (face), whereas dominance in males is shown by the variation of spots of their abdomens.[2] P. dominula is common and cosmopolitan due to their exceptional survival features such as productive colony cycle, short development time, and higher ability to endure predator attacks.[3]
These wasps have a lek-based mating system. Unlike most social insects, 35% of P. dominula wasps in a colony are unrelated. It is considered an invasive species in Canada and the United States.
Taxonomy
The European paper wasp was originally described in 1791 by Johann Ludwig Christ as Vespa dominula. The specific epithet dominula is a noun meaning "little mistress",[4] and following the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, species epithets which are nouns do not change when a species is placed in a different genus. Authors who were unaware that dominula was a noun have misspelled the species name as "dominulus" for decades. P. dominula is often referred to as the European paper wasp because of its native distribution and its nests, which are constructed from paper and saliva. It is also frequently referred to in older literature as Polistes gallicus, a separate species with which it was often confused.[5]
Description and identification
Close-up of the head
Little variation occurs among individuals of P. dominula; the wing lengths of males range from 9.5 to 13.0 millimetres (3⁄8 to 1⁄2 in), while those of females range from 8.5 to 12.0 millimetres (5⁄16 to 1⁄2 in). Its body is colored entirely yellow and black, similar to that of Vespula germanica, one of the most common and defensive wasps in its native range.[6] The female mandible is black and sometimes has a yellow spot. Females have a black subantennal mark that rarely has a pair of small, yellow spots. The female vertex sometimes has a pair of small, yellow spots behind the hind ocelli. Females have yellow, comma-shaped scutal spots.[7]
Variations amongst individuals
Although the wasps do not display much conspicuous variation that enables one to tell them apart with the naked eye, definite features are unique to each individual. For example, the abdominal spots on males of P. dominula vary in sizes, locations, and patterns. They act as sexually selective signals and also are associated with social hierarchy within the colonies. Males with smaller, regular patterns of spots are more aggressive and dominant over those with larger, irregular patterns. Similarly, females' appearance varies between individuals and is associated with their social rank. The larger and the more scattered the clypeus marks on the foundress, the higher the probability that she is dominant over other females.[8]
Distribution
P. dominula in the Netherlands
The native range of P. dominula covers much of southern Europe and North Africa, and temperate parts of Asia as far east as China.[9] It has also been introduced to New Zealand,[10] Australia, South Africa,[11] and North and South America. Since the mid-1980s, the population of P. dominula has expanded to rather cooler regions, especially towards northern Europe. Global warming is speculated to have raised temperatures of certain areas, allowing P. dominula to expand to originally cooler regions.[7]
The first North American occurrence of P. dominula was reported in Massachusetts in the late 1970s,[12] and by 1995, this species had been documented throughout the northeastern USA.[13] However, the species is also likely present in additional states, but has just not yet been reported. Although detailed mechanisms of the species' dispersal are still unknown, some number of individuals, including the foundresses, may have hidden inside transportable items such as shipping crates, trailers, boats, or other human-made structures used during international trading between countries.[7] wikipedia dixit

In solidarity with the Ukrainian Nation.
Putin has launched a massive and unprovoked escalation in Ukraine. He has signaled his desire to bring Ukraine under Moscow’s control. He portrays Ukraine as an illegal state that does not deserve sovereignity and should not exist unless it is roped to Russia. Growing up in the 50’s in Hungary I can relate to the Russian aggression, when my country tried to remove itself from Russian control in 1956; I saw the tanks rolling into Budapest. My mom and I (was 8 years old) have been lining up outside a bakery to buy bread, the soldiers started shooting into the line up, luckily neither my mom or I were hurt, but I saw my school mate being shot and later died of her injuries.

Vervet Monkeys interact aggressively as seen during a game drive from our lodge in Livingstone, Zambia, in July. An interesting fact about the Vervet Monkeys: they have about 36 calls including six different alarm signals. Each represents a different predator.
Poland is a country scarred by wars and agression from both East and West. Nowhere else is the history so apparent as in its Western parts. A large chunk of areas which are now Poland used to be ethnically fully German, which is evident by the store front sign displayed on the picture. An ordinary "Räucherei / Konditorei" (Smokehouse and Confectionery) in the city of Glatz (now Kłodzko) stands to this day, presrved by layers of plaster put on the building after world war two, to cover up the scars and the past itself.
The image also displays another key part of Poland's history. On the left-hand side a more modern sign is hanging at the entrance to "Świetlica Sybiraków" - a tiny room owned by the Polish society of former prisoners from Siberia, who were sent to the far East for forced labour, due to their ethnicity or political stance. They constitute a considerable part of the people who inhabited the ex-German areas in 1945, together with other Poles which were forced out of former Polish areas in the East.

I suppose I don't have much to say today. I begin my new job soon, and I'm nervous. I am probably the most anxious person on the planet, so it is no wonder I'm nervous. And my AF broke...and this makes me sad. It is decidedly easier to auto focus when doing a selfie than to use manual focus, for me at least.
