This time I offer you a full frontal, and we can marvel at the emotion which can be drawn from simple stone.
I can never quite comprehend how there never seems to have been a single false chisel stroke which accidentally removed a finger or the tip of a nose. It's not as though you can just start over as though you were screwing up a sheet of A4 and sulkily aiming it at the bin. We're talking months of work here.
Oh well, not my problem. I think this was originally stuck to the side of the Arc de Triomphe. I can't say for sure, but she's now inside at the top of a fearsome flight of stairs and others of a very similar ilk now decorate the outside, looking down wearing expressions of varying degrees of scariness and agression, befitting Napoleon's greatest victory arch.
These days she hasn't got much else to do but rail at tourists who take her picture without even asking permission and then write nonsense about her. Tough is the life of the fallen vixen warrior indeed.

Once again young and goodlooking new fundland. Looks like a beast - gorilla or bear. This dog makes me smile every time I see it. It understands well commands but follow only those ones lch wants. It is really unpredictable but don't worry - scope of its attitutes doesn't contain agression. Just huge teddybear. Nevertheless while barking level of respect grows rapidly. This pic was taken somewhere on the field amongs greenery when we went for a sunday's walk.
My mind immediately went back to a classic sci-fi movie when I saw this outside artwork display. I couldn't help it.
Yes, I know Gort was supposedly made of a type of shiny, flexible impenetrable metal. But in my mind this imposing interplanetary guardian is more earthy. This one is covered with layered sandstone.;-)

Po raz pierwszy od 29 lat, na tory LHS-u wjechał pierwszy pociąg pasażerski od Wschodu (Ukrainy) wioząc uchodźców uciekających z Agresji Rosyjskiej. Pociąg ten wracał tego samego dnia, jadąc z pudełkami pełne jedzenia, kosmetyków, koców, ubrań itp. Relacja tego pociągu jest Kijów - Olkusz.
Udało mi się uchwycić ten jakże ciekawy i ważny skład jak wracał ze Sławkowa na Ukrainę.

For the first time in 29 years, an passenger train from (Ukraine) has entered LHS trackage, carrying refugees fleeing from the war that is currently occupying the country (Russian Agression). This train returned on the same day with boxes full of food, cosmetics, blankets, clothes, etc. Everything that is needed for an human being to survive. All of the food, blankets, clothes etc. are heading west to help our neighbouring brothers in need! This supply is also heading to the Ukrainian Citizens that have just entered Poland.
I managed to capture this very interesting and important train when it was returning from the end of the LHS mainline in Sławków, Poland to Ukraine.

To the left, a radiation of five petals held inside a hexagon of petal shapes. Almost like a willow leaf pattern - the tree that unifies sun and water (two keys of late prehistoric belief systems) by 'raining' on a sunny day. This images serves also to illustrate that whilst the Basque cross (known as the lauburu symbol) became a pinnacle symbol for a recognizable demography, it came from a range and variety of themes around the idea of 'petal' and link.
Second left : a traditional symbol from a wide area of the northern Iberian peninsula (Basque, Asturies, Navarre, Cantabria, Galicia, Aragon). This version became dominant with its 'petals' swinging to the right. A symbol of bringing together with prosperity : unity of four token clans or regional groups without allusion to stress, agitation or agression. This version formalized into the Basque symbol, with earlier flexible expressions associated with the Celtic bridge between later prehistory and early medieval.
Centre. The same 'lauburu' symbol with the petals turning in the opposite direction. Traditional weaves of flowers were symbols of fertility and were placed for luck onto main doorways. There is a chance that this formal stone symbol is in synergy with both these dried vegetal decorations and late petroglyphic convention of expression.
Second right : A 'Stèle discoïdale' that combines quality of floral petal with the Christian cross. Here the petal is dominant. Pre Christian traditions seem to be merging and in harmony with Christian idiom - a miscibility that suggests shared values.
Right : Another 'Stèle discoïdale' that has an equal mix of petal and cross. It probably needs to be mentioned that there are examples of fossilized sea urchins being systematically added to bronze age grave goods (bridging into Anglo Saxon tradition), and it is an aside that the 'petals' also resemble this simple five star motif from nature - understanding that the above only have even number combinations.

We had a visitor in our yard and he helped me with the chores! This young bull moose wandered onto our property and we are sure he has been here before. My wife has lived in our cabin since 2004, and she has had multiple moose families stop by over the years. We are sure that this bull was a calf that has visited before. I was standing on our deck with my camera clicking away and the moose showed no fear nor agression. The moose are safe on our property, as well as any other creature that chooses to walk on our land.
The moose ate some willows, some grass, and as in this photo, dandilions. He stayed for about an hour then wandered off into the woods behind our cabin.
It's really special when the moose visit our home, it puts a smile on my wife's face. My wife is unable to hike anymore so we take drives out into backroads looking for wildlife. Seeing the wildlife this way is much harder than when we hike or take the 4 wheelers deep into the wilderness. When we do get out on the backroads, it both makes her happy and sad at the same time. She loves seeing raw land but it breaks her heart not to be able to walk out into it.

Ce samedi 6 décembre, vers 17 h, un peu avant la tombée de la nuit, sur le ralentisseur devant le silo à grains, un véhicule Master blanc, dont j’ai eu le temps de relever l’immatriculation, avance sur moi alors que j’étais engagé sur le passage.
J’ai de Grosses difficultés de mobilité (traversée lente, Paraparésie) et, sentant la voiture peu encline à ralentir pour me laisser finir de traverser, je m’arrête et cherche le regard du conducteur et son empathie à mon égard. Mais la réponse à ma demande fut surprenante. Il fit un redémarrage en trombe et une manœuvre volontaire avec un coup de volant inapproprié dans ma direction. Je ne sais pas encore comment j’ai évité de justesse qu’il me roule sur le pied, car je ne suis pas vif. Et je suis tombé. Le chauffard à pris la fuite.
La voiture suiveuse s’est arrêtée et les occupants sont venus à mon secours, car je ne pouvais pas me relever seul. Leur bienveillance a apaisé le choc émotionnel que je venais de subir. Je considère cela comme une agression violente.
La personne qui m’a agressée avait-elle prévu délibérément une telle manœuvre pour me projeter au sol ? Face aux multiples dangers que je rencontre tous les jours à Crest (signalisations inexistantes Calade/rue des Alpes ; traversée piétonne au Moulin ou accès piétons au Pont Mistral par exemple).

This is the second year in a row I am able to observe at the Lachine Rapids Park, in Lasalle, a Tree Swallow finally nesting in a tree.
They are more commonly found nesting in man-made bird houses in many other parks on the island of Montreal. They adapt very well to these types of structures when they are installed in or close to ponds.

This is "Bruce the Moose," he as visited our property for about three years now. He is very friendly to my wife and I and loves to have his photo taken. My wife even has a video of Bruce looking in our kitchen window at her.
My wife used to have horses here at the cabin. The moose would come in and visit the horses and probably enjoy hay with them. My wife has lived in our cabin for 22 years and after her first year here, moose started to show up. Each spring, a cow will come in wither either one or two calves and hang around for a few days. Every year since, each spring, a cow will show up with her calves and the following year with yearling calves, then we will get young adult moose, both cows and bulls. They always stay for a couple days, then move on. We have no way of knowing if all the moose are related, but we think they are decendants of the first moose that came by.
We know Bruce has been here before by how he reacts to us. On this day, he actually walked up to within 10 feet of me and stopped. His ears were not pinned back and he showed no agression at all. I talked to him in a calm voice and after stopping for a few minutes, he walked over and began eating on the willows in our yard again.
This was taken about one year ago now, am hoping Bruce will stop by again this month.

At Eagle Point Park this morning in Harrison Mills the Bald Eagles were more aggressive than I have ever seen them. Several times I saw Eagles knock each other over and a couple times they latched onto claws and dumped the opponent in the water. Some chases went on longer than I have ever seen them do. The water level is very low and perhaps not enough fish are able to get upriver to feed the Bald Eagles. When looking out over the distant sand bars there were many fewer Bald Eagles than a week ago. Some had moved up to Chehalis Flats and were feeding there. I wish I had done video because there was so much going on and it was hard to keep an eye on it.

Wild Mustangs in the Eastern Sierra rear up and kick as they show aggression toward each other. We often saw behaviour such as this as we enjoyed the privilege of witnessing this magnificent herd of wild horses.
