Aigues Mortes - Camargue - France

* intrusive thinking about the limerent object

* acute longing for reciprocation

* some fleeting and transient relief from unrequited limerence through vivid imagining of action by the limerent object that means reciprocation

* fear of rejection and unsettling shyness in the limerent object's presence

* intensification through adversity

* acute sensitivity to any act, thought, or condition that can be interpreted favorably, and an extraordinary ability to devise or invent "reasonable" explanations for why neutral actions are a sign of hidden passion in the limerent object

* an aching in the chest or stomach when uncertainty is strong

* buoyancy (a feeling of walking on air) when reciprocation seems evident

* a general intensity of feeling that leaves other concerns in the background

* a remarkable ability to emphasize what is truly admirable in the limerent object and to avoid dwelling on the negative or render it into another positive attribute.

Pero's Bridge is a pedestrian bascule bridge that spans St Augustine's Reach in Bristol Harbour, England. It links Queen Square and Millennium Square.

The bridge is composed of three spans; the two outer ones are fixed and the central section can be raised to provide a navigation channel in the harbour. The most distinctive features of the bridge are the pair of horn-shaped sculptures which act as counterweights for the lifting section, leading it to be commonly known as the Horned Bridge or Shrek's Bridge as the counterweights resemble the ears of the animated star of the eponymous film.

The bridge is named after Pero, also known as Pero Jones, who lived from around 1753 to 1798, arriving in Bristol probably from the Caribbean island of Nevis in 1793, as the slave of the merchant John Pinney (1740-1818).

The bridge was designed by the Irish artist Eilis O'Connell, in conjunction with Ove Arup & Partners engineers. It was formally opened in 1999 by Paul Boateng MP, then a Home Office minister.

The length of the lifting span is 11 metres (36 feet) and a 9 metres (30 feet) navigation channel is provided.

Hundreds of people now attach padlocks to the bridge as a sign of affection to each other,

Unnatural Affections

One Pride Day in Toronto, I noticed a guy taking a million pictures of all the scandalous perverts, but pulling faces to clearly communicate his disapproval. Of course I had to photograph his performance. The moment he noticed, he rushed up and demanded I stop. I dedicate this to him and hope he found some kind of redemption in his collection of dirty, dirty pictures.

So, for your consideration, a set of illustrations taken from an encyclopaedic catalogue of human sexual diversity, chosen to poke at the way we run together moralizing with evidence-based medicine to produce ideas about what's healthy and what's criminal. Experts dissect and evaluate and problematize, religions vilify - and tourists walk around with cameras taking pictures and going EWWWWW!

This series is showing at garner narrative gallery www.garnernarrative.com in Louisville, KY, opening Friday April 6 (6-9 pm) and running through May 25, 2018.

And it only took me a year!. . . I plead lots of knitting for growing people which can't wait. Whereas a scarf can certainly wait. But I haven't had a new one for about 5 years now and it was time! And I love it!

UPDATE: On June 20th, 2010 my precious Ben lost his battle. He had kidney problems that weren't noticeable until it was too late. He passed peacefully in my arms, I felt his last breath and heartbeat... and it crushed me.

He will be so, so, greatly missed. he was just 7 months old.

The Plucky Knitter Primo Fingering"Neapolitan Kit" - Oatmeal, Bashful, and Smokey the Bear

I finished this in February, while reading The Hunger Games trilogy. What a fantastic knit, and so easy to do while reading. And I *LOVE* TPK. Perfect yarn for this knit. I loved this yarn and this pattern so much that I'm going to make it again in fall colors. My next TPK kit should be arriving this week.

I knit this on size 7s at a slightly looser gauge than pattern, and I ended up running out of the Oatmeal. A very kind raveler sent me enough to finish up. As you can see, this thing is ENORMOUS. I'm considering making the next one on size 6s or 5s.

Afro Mexican Men, 1910

During the slavery era within the Americas, Mexico and Peru combined were the largest importer of African slaves. The slave importing United States from the same era was the second.

As with their African Diaspora kinfolk in the U.S., other parts of North, Central and South America and in the Caribbean, they are able to claim a diverse "ethnic" heritage, coming in every beautiful and handsome shade of skin and etc.

We're related--you and I

You from the West Indies,

I from Kentucky.

Kinsmen--you and I,

You from Africa,

I from the U.S.A.

Brothers--you and I.

Brothers by Langston Hughes

This poem is pretty obvious as it embraces and celebrates a "one people" among African folk and people of African descent wherever they happen to be in the world.
