Plant macro, b&w, negative. Love is ... the holding hands on the road towards destinies.

One summer night, out on a flat headland, all but surrounded by the waters of the bay, the horizons were remote and distant rims on the edge of space. Millions of stars blazed in darkness, and on the far shore a few lights burned in cottages. Otherwise there was no reminder of human life. My companion and I were alone with the stars: the misty river of the Milky Way flowing across the sky, the patterns of the constellations standing out bright and clear, a blazing planet low on the horizon. It occurred to me that if this were a sight that could be seen only once in a century, this little headland would be thronged with spectators. But it can be see many scores of nights in any year, and so the lights burned in the cottages and the inhabitants probably gave not a thought to the beauty overhead; and because they could see it almost any night, perhaps they never will.

Viridiana

In 1960, for political propaganda reasons, Franco instructed his minister of culture to invite the country's most famous filmmaker to return to Spain to direct a film of his choice. Buñuel accepted and proceeded to make Viridiana produced by Mexican film tycoon Gustavo Alatriste and starring Mexican actress Silvia Pinal. He left Spain as soon as he finished the film, but left a few official copies. After viewing them, the copies were burned by the dictator's authorities. The minister of culture was reprimanded for having passed the screenplay in the first place.

A copy of Viridiana, however, had been smuggled to France, where it proceeded to win the Palme D'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival. The film was banned in Spain, but got international attention and praise (with some exceptions).

Hope you are all having a cosy Sunday - dark and wet here, but fed up with rain shots...

Vidalia was lying in the sun when Bogart came over to join us. Vidalia didn't mind the invasion of her space. She just picked up her paw and draped it across her beloved Bogart. So sweet.

Bogart has such a gentle, sweet spirit. He is sensitive to any correction. If a cat hisses at him, even just in passing, Bogart remains cautious around that feline for a few days. Thankfully, Vidalia does not have the heart to hiss at her favorite canine. Well, she doesn't hiss at the overbearing puppy, either.

Weather and Job permitting, I have been trying to watch the Beavers on the River Otter at least 2 or 3 times a week. A big commitment but one that is so rewarding, No two trips are the same. The social group/bonding between these animals is delightful. All the beavers do not always show every night and the times/duration they are out and about varies from a few minutes to a couple of hours. Here is a selection from tonight with the Adult Female and a Sub-Adult (born last year) on view. Also it is also great fun catching up with other people on the river.
