Rhesus macaque showing mother's affection captured near Gaganachukki Falls, Shivasamudra, Karnataka, India.

Vidalia was lying in the sun when Bogart came over to join us. Vidalia didn't mind the invasion of her space. She just picked up her paw and draped it across her beloved Bogart. So sweet.

Bogart has such a gentle, sweet spirit. He is sensitive to any correction. If a cat hisses at him, even just in passing, Bogart remains cautious around that feline for a few days. Thankfully, Vidalia does not have the heart to hiss at her favorite canine. Well, she doesn't hiss at the overbearing puppy, either.

between the horsebreeder and the foal...or, is she whispering?

LOOK AT THE HANDS...

I love photographing horses, not the easiest to do, there are standards, but with the help of the breeders it usually becomes a very pleasant and exciting experience.

Here was a fortuitous moment, as a photographer, yes you have to focus on the main subject and there is MUCH to think about and concentrate on, but as a creative you stay aware of what is going on around you, and these 'off' images often become my favourite shots...

One of the horses I had photographed was taken back, so this was one of those 'in-between' moments...

This is the mother in the family that breeds horses, it is tough and yet rewarding.

They witness the birth and tend to the foals with love and yet when they lose one, they are quite stoic about it...

Such tenderness, closeness, emotion, just HAD to be captured.

I wrote a BLOG about THE IMPORTANCE of HANDS in PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY: click HERE: magdaindigo.blogspot.com/2009/01/importance-of-hands-in-p...

I uploaded a small series here, well, it was hard to choose...

Shelter Cat series

This past weekend my wife and I took some engagement photos for two of her students. They wanted autumn color included, so we headed to the Gorge. The color was perfect, and we got a kick out of seeing that sparkle in their eyes that they had for each other.

This photographic opportunity was all about perfect timing and position been at the right place at the right time. The position of the southern pride on ridge overlooking some of the open plains gave them the right elevation and angle so that I could capture them as silhouettes against the evening sky which was saturated with vibrant colour. It always pays to carry your camera about and never to be without it. However the best pictures one takes are those that have been imprinted upon our minds.

These pink roses were in a bouquet that I bought for Mum. My water mister came out and I had some more fun with my macro ring.

Well, I can't explain this image with words. Only two dutch girls exchanging affections, smoking and talking. The place is wonderful to take photos, in the middle of abandoned 'russian' buildings, at Tallinn (Estonia). By Edgar Barreira

With friends, I still feel so insecure

Little darling I believe you could help me a lot

Just take my hand and lead me where you will

No conversation, no waving goodnight

(We'll give you) (lover, ooh-ooh) just make love with affection

Sing me another love song but this time with a little dedication

Sing it, sing it (sing it, sing it)

You know that's what I like (we'll give you) (love, ooh-ooh)

Unnatural Affections

One Pride Day in Toronto, I noticed a guy taking a million pictures of all the scandalous perverts, but pulling faces to clearly communicate his disapproval. Of course I had to photograph his performance. The moment he noticed, he rushed up and demanded I stop. I dedicate this to him and hope he found some kind of redemption in his collection of dirty, dirty pictures.

So, for your consideration, a set of illustrations taken from an encyclopaedic catalogue of human sexual diversity, chosen to poke at the way we run together moralizing with evidence-based medicine to produce ideas about what's healthy and what's criminal. Experts dissect and evaluate and problematize, religions vilify - and tourists walk around with cameras taking pictures and going EWWWWW!

This series is showing at garner narrative gallery www.garnernarrative.com in Louisville, KY, opening Friday April 6 (6-9 pm) and running through May 25, 2018.

We are going back this morning to check out the action at the Rookery.

In my childhood touching thumbs of each other means friendship, love, affection... whatever!!

Can you remember this?? Specially for friends in Bangladesh... :)
