With the Space Station active all the time, there is need for Mission Control 24/7. When we walked in, you could see someone floating around in one of the modules on the video screen, and see that the station was somewhere over Chile.
Rheannon went to her home town, San Luis Obispo, and took some pictures of her sisters, Josie and Ceara in the wild flowers in Santa Margarita. She used Fuji Superia X-tra 400 film on the Minolta x-570.

I want to believe that these scenes are based on real ones. (I have no strong basis for doing so.) If so, they're likely from the Cincinnati area, where the book was published.
Heading home to Ladner from Victoria (on Vancouver Island (Canada)) today, there was enough fog that a lookout was posted at the front of the ferry. I spent the first half of the trip with a 180mm lens capturing the wonderful bleakness/richness of the fog. It is the long weekend, so there were a lot of small craft about, livening up our trip.

Army Reserve and active duty bridge crewmembers conduct a sling load training operation with bridge bays at Fort Chaffee, Ark., July 31. Soldiers from various Army Reserve and active duty units trained together at River Assault, a bridging training exercise involving Army Engineers and other support elements to create a modular bridge on the water across the Arkansas River at Fort Chaffee, Ark. The entire training exercise lasted from July 28 to Aug. 4, 2015, involving one brigade headquarters, two battalions and 17 other units, to include bridging, sapper, mobility, construction and aviation companies.
