Taken for AAW: Beautiful Mistake
As I drove into the parking garage at my office, there were two people casting great shadows in the early morning light blasting in here. I pulled over and got my camera out as fast as I could, but not fast enough. You can just barely make out the two people in the shadows to the right. SOOC.

Active family member, Bryce Loy has been battling to recover from a near fatal cliff jump and his family has come together to help raise funds to relieve financial burdens that come along with shattering two feet and vertebrae in his back. It was decided to do what Active does best and that's to celebrate life with an awesome party. With the generous donation from Anepalco's Cafe and the Bruery, they got the party going while a lovely Skate-Jam and live music from Pathways, Warm Climate, and Clean Victoria held it down smooth. Big thanks to all who came through for Bryce and helping us raise well over our goal to help kick start him back to health and happiness once again!

Notes: Invented by Henri Rousselon, head of Goupil's in-house photography studio in 1872, who described his process as follows: “The value of our process of photogravure consists in the possibility of obtaining, by means of light, an etched copper-plate exactly like the ordinary copper-plate, and giving all the gradations of tone and half-tone, as drawn by nature in the ordinary photograph. Our process is founded on the discovery of a chemical substance which crystallizes under the influence of light, the crystals becoming larger the longer they are exposed to it. After exposure it only remains to make a deposit of copper, by means of the electric battery, on the crystalline surface, and thus a plate is obtained yielding proofs in which every detail and gradation of tone is faithfully reproduced.” Walter Bentley Woodbury, the inventor of the woodburytype, asserted that the Goupil process was based on a suggestion made by him to Goupil around 1870. According to Donald Cameron Swan, the process was based on his father’s (Swan’s) photo-mezzotint process. Goupil and its successor, Boussod, Valadon & Cie, used the process extensively for art reproduction, less frequently for printing original photographs. The overall excellence of a Goupil gravure –the density of black, the separation of tones, and the clear, crisp quality of the image– was never surpassed by any other gravure method, according to many sources. Victor-Marie Hugo, vicomte Hugo (26 February 1802 – 22 May 1885) was a French Romantic writer and politician. During a literary career that spanned more than sixty years, he wrote in a variety of genres and forms. His most famous works are the novels The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (1831) and Les Misérables (1862). In France, Hugo is renowned for his poetry collections, such as Les Contemplations (The Contemplations) and La Légende des siècles (The Legend of the Ages). Hugo was at the forefront of the Romantic literary movement with his play Cromwell and drama Hernani. Many of his works have inspired music, both during his lifetime and after his death, including the opera Rigoletto and the musicals Les Misérables and Notre-Dame de Paris. He produced more than 4,000 drawings in his lifetime, and campaigned for social causes such as the abolition of capital punishment and slavery.

I'm not sure what these birds are, yet. They did entertain me for quite a while with their antics, though.

Active Assignment Weekly: "Dramatic Lighting"
Since this group is all about improvement, I'm submitting this as an improvement over the other one. I think I set this one up a lot better, because I understood the light more.
And like my fury fellow here, I just love attention and comments :>)
This is the Weston model 370 electrodynomometer AC/DC ammeter which was in production for approx. 60 years and used actively for about 100. Talk about lasting and enduring designs! The 370 "mainframe" was used for several different product designs that included voltmeters and watt-meters in various power ranges.
This particular unit was once used by the Wisconsin Power Co. And could be found on their service trucks and in their facilities. It came with a calibration record from that company and was still pretty much bang on spec when it left their care. Unfortunately, this unit was badly damaged on its way to me, (dropped or impacted(?)), which busted open the wooden cabinet, which I was able to repair and also fix up a few other parts which got bent. I even gave a quick surface refresh to reduce the more ugly scratches and scrapes on the wood and then applied some lemon oil. The massive 3/4" Bakelite plith that the hardware is mounted too remained unscathed. The meter movement itself was also damaged and giving off low readings. The springs in this movement which were sturdy and designed for calm travel and handling, was not designed to handle blunt force trauma. So I worked out a deal with the vendor and decided to keep it and use it mostly as just a man-cave style accessory
Oh well. Such is life.. :)
