There are times I curse at the street lights and at the lights from the Cliff House, but this night I found them to be quite the blessing.
okay, ^o^ here is a photo taken with my favorite natural lighting condition and subject… yeah, ö_ö the precious & gorgeous golden lighting at sunrise with those translucent back-lighted wings.
Õ_õ before shooting this frame, those little egrets were flying with an incredible synchronism, together all the time, quite like an egret carrying a mirror aside; ö_ö many times they were showing off some incredible maneuvers right in front of my nose. lols… ò_ó frustrating for me, because the fact was happening at very near time of dawn and i hadn’t sufficient light to click the shutter. ó_ò hmmm… increasing iso for more than 400 would give me too much granulation in the entire composition and the use of flashlight *even with a diffuser* most probably would be disastrous. ö_ö yeah, it was hard to remember constantly that they were wild, they could get scared easily and pluff… ö_ö disappear in a blink of an eye. ~_^
ö_ö i was lucky, they came back later on and eventually, i got this shot. controlling lens flare was a bit difficult but my crew were very cooperative, they promptly answered my request of *don’t move, be quiet, no breathing and heads down* and ö_ö i could maneuver my big lens comfortably. ^o^lols

^o^rsrs...

Kiev is a cold place in the winter. I can't for the life of me figure out why the Germans chose to invade these old Russian cities in the winter months. They say the Russians had some significant success because they initially did not depend on tanks, which are not great in the snow, but instead relied on horse-cavalry.
All of this ultimately made me think that the only thing worse than being a German soldier during a Kiev winter would be being a Russian horse.
Over on the right there, you can see the huge statue celebrating the Great Patriotic War, which we know as WWII.
I am headed to Iceland in a few hours to hang out with Asmundur - I can't wait! I also took a few interesting shots here in Amsterdam, but I've had no time to process them.... coming soon!

okaaay, ô_õ here i’m again with my bazooka lens, ^o^lols i was aboard on this tiny fiberglass boat with my crew when mr. Sempurno *the boat rower* told mr. Agus *my local guide and translator* that a big lens was pointing at our direction. no doubt, another spy shoot of me! lols ò_ó it was Con Foley’s big lens ^o^lols. a wildlife photographer whom i’d a great opportunity to meet on that day.
let’s be perfectly honest, no glamorous looking person can be seen here ó_ò hahah… ó_ò sweat was pouring my face, dripping into my eyes and camera’s viewfinder; i was feeling like i was inside of a turkish bath fully dressed… and hOly mOley, mites, ants and spiders had plugged my pores and, left annoying itching red pustules. lols and also in this marvelous technicolor scenario my hair was a soaking wet mess inside my hat. ^o^ but hey, i loved the show that was rolling in front of my eyes, although this performance was only for no more than 20minutes per day. ö_ö ö_ö ö_ö

Shot during a trip last year to White Sands National Monument. We camped over night in the Monument, and we had the park to ourselves. It was a moonless night, so a good time to shoot some star trails. This was shot looking north, and it looks like some city lights on the horizon. However, I can't think of what city/town that would be. Alamagordo is to the east and not in the picture.
Update 3/23/2007
Strobists: I think this qualifies for the Strobist group. Left shutter open until battery died (see comments below) and walked over to the tent and popped my Sigma 500 Super DG on full power while inside. Then went to bed.

Why 24mm focal length?
Photographed the week before with a 100 - 400mm and missed most of the tail.
Wanted to give the comet a sense of scale/size by going wide and including the two trees (living and dead) and the swamp.
Watch out for a future copy of Discover Magazine (USA) with this photo as it Masthead Image, Horizons 9th Edition in 2009 and the Kodak Bill Board in Times Square New York :)
Getting a different take of the frenzy of the street dancing is not easy. The performers always move too fast. That I am partial to shots clean of extraneous elements like the crowd and the ever present photographers angling for the same shots compound the challenge. So when I got a clear shot of the ever flashinhg hand of the lead dancer, I took it. This, for me, is a representation of grace in action.

ON EXPLORE
Sanshiro take a seat and clean himself. After cleaning, he was sitting by this way. And he always look at everything around him with curious eyes. Still on his great learning phase of life. Raising him, I learn to understand and read cat mind, if he want to go to toilet then he bites my shirt and pull. He always pursuade us to play with him. Now he plays much with rabbit but he enjoyed alone while young rabit just jump and jump. In my car, he always move towards me, I think he is hungry but when he reach me, he then sit still and sleep on my lap. He is the cat that need love very very much.

After the rainstorm - It was one of the most awesome sunsets I had ever seen. After a shower the clouds opened and the light and colors were unvelibable. There are more pictures to come :)
Some people viewing 'beacon' were asking for a wider shot, so here it is :)
Pigeon Point Lighthouse @ sunset. The crowd are gathering for the annual relighting of the first order Fresnel lens.
Thanks to the author/s of Digital Photography School for featuring this shot in the "Photographing Coastlines" article.

FYI - 'beacon' is not a crop taken from 'Pigeon Point'. They are entirely different photos :)

Respira, respira en el aire
No tengas miedo de que te importe
Deja pero no me dejes
Mira alrededor y escoge tu propio terreno

Fact about the Underground; The London Underground was the first underground railway in the world, London also happen by chance, the perfect location for an underground railway because of the soil, it's clay that make tunneling easy and far less chance of a tunnel collapse, this is alone why London is one of the few city that can able to build a deep levels underground railway. because of that, it's the biggest Underground railway in the world, spreading over 260 miles of tracks. The reason why certain city like New York don't have a deep levels railway because New York is under rocks, hence why the subway is run under the street.
(It's one of the best Underground shot I had ever taken quite by chance, especially as I was staggering back home drunkly from Clapham)
AKIBA scenario
AKIHABARA (秋葉原) also known as Electric Town or AKIBA in short. Its best-known as one of the largest shopping areas on Earth for electronic, computer, anime, and otaku goods. The character of Akihabara has constantly changed over the decades and continues to do so. A recent development is the emergence of Akihabara as a center of Japanese animation culture.
OTAKU culture in Akihabara has become increasingly famous in the recent years. Many people there have unique lifestyles, centered on technological enterprises and a love for Anime/Manga, that have made them outsiders in other sections of Japanese society. Otaku are afforded the chance to gather here and avoid alienation imposed by others who do not share their specific interests. The presence of such prolific "GEEKY" behavior has led to Akihabara being seen as a mecca of sorts for otaku, as well as to the term Akiba-kei, or Akiba-type.
In addition to conventional stores, various other animation related establishments have appeared in the area, such as cosplay ("costume play") cafes, where waitresses are dressed up like anime characters, and manga kissaten ("comics cafes"), where customers can read comics, watch DVDs and surf the internet.
Maid-kissa are coffee shops where the waitresses where fantasy like maid costumes. They dress up to look like characters from famous anime or Japanese comics. Since Akihabara caters not only to electronic enthusiasts but also young Japanese otaku which translates roughly to NERDS in English.
Every Sundays at Chuo-Dori, the main street in Akihabara you can find the "MAIDS" passing out pamphlets to their shops to passers by.
Akihabara is 5 minutes ride from (central) Tokyo Station
