It has been known for a little while that ten coastguard stations across the uk are 'at risk'. The suggestion being that we should have just three 24-hour national stations – at Southampton, Dover and Aberdeen.
Crosby has been fighting to keep its station, and recently
a cross-party transport select committee has suggested that the proposal could have devastating and deadly consequences on the Mersey coastline.
While there are many being made 'at risk' in these times, from what you can gather, most dont leave lives at risk.
Been trying to clean up my harddrive, this one shows the station behind the car park at Burbo bank and the comms tower, set against the mile marker on the beach.
Update: it was announced yesterday that the coastguard station will be closed, despite a report that lives will be lost

It's been quite a while since I've posted a portrait (Tomasito Style!, haha), so after a zillion years, I'm back with my favorite genre!
Forgive me for being very slow in the flickrworld, my pro account just expired and I'm seriously thinking not to renew, since it's so addicting that I actually spend a lot of time from work just visiting my stream.
Anyway, God Bless everyone!
That's what i was immediately reminded.
I later saw on flickr, that i wasn't the only one who though about that title ;)
My views somehow go crazy today... This one got over a 1000 views in a few seconds. What's up flickr?
My newly created Facebook page: Moments | Photography
Yet another experiment...not a ground breaking one I must admit :))
Two things happened: 1. last week I bought a couple of toy cars for my sisters soon to be born baby.. and 2. I finally went out for a shoot in my city Hyderabad.
At the famous "Hussain Sagar" (a lake) in the city, the lights were gleaming all around and I specially liked the way they formed a neat little bokeh when I shot it the first time. So I took out my toy and placed it on a parapet near by and shot it with the lights in the background. This is a blue hour shot (my favorite time of the day) and I liked the combination of blue light, the yellow car and the red bokeh in the background.
Tell me what you guys think. Thanks for your visit and comments. Have a great week ahead!
Happy 4th of July!

Some would say the path to Freedom is expression free of boundaries and constraints while being yourself......but I think Freedom has a lot more to do with finding ways to cross chasms and gaps in our way of thinking and dropping the binds that cause us to become islands...
"What is freedom? Freedom is the right to choose: the right to create for yourself the alternatives of choice. Without the possibility of choice and the exercise of choice a man is not a man but a member, an instrument, a thing."

I lit the bridge with an flashlight. Uploaded to LR 3 with some temp tweaks. Processed in SIlver Effex with a slight Selenium tone, dodging and heavy burning/ Lense falloff vignette added and burned the edges all the way around.
I tried taking bubble pictures before, but had to re-take for Cliche Saturday Scavenger Hunt. Of course, I forgot how hard it is to get a closeup of a bubble. It keeps moving, so lens is confused about where to focus. And often, when bubble is perfectly in-focus, shutter refuses to work because lens "thinks" it is not done focusing yet. And when you are about to take a shot, bubble pops and you start all over. I seriously need to remember to buy glycerin next time - it supposed to make bubbles indestructible. Which is just another way to say "less fragile".
Another version is under the fold. And, it goes without saying, this is my "Bubbles" cliche category entry. HCS, everyone!
The Porsche Museum is an automotive museum in the Zuffenhausen district of Stuttgart, Germany on the site of carmaker Porsche.
The new Porsche museum stands on a conspicuous junction just outside Porsche Headquarters in Zuffenhausen. The display area covers 5600 square meters featuring around 80 exhibits, many rare cars and a variety of historical models.
The museum was designed by the architects Delugan Meissl. The exhibition spaces were designed by HG Merz who was also involved in the building of the award winning Mercedes-Benz Museum.
The original Porsche museum opened in 1976 in a side-road near the Porsche factory. It was a relatively small works museum with little parking space and it was only big enough to hold around 20 exhibits (in rotation).
After the new Mercedes-Benz Museum opened in the east of Stuttgart in 2006, Porsche went ahead with plans to upgrade and extend its museum in the northern district of Zuffenhausen next to the company headquarters. Originally costs were set at 60 million euros but days before the official opening ceremony on 29 January 2009, it was confirmed that the actual costs hit 100 million euros. (Source: Wikipedia)

This weeks installment was taken in the cuts of San Francisco -the Mission District.
San Francisco is full talented artists; professional, street, and, and casual. The street artists are the ones who often times go unnoticed without the credit they very well deserve for their beautiful work. Some street artists are outstandingly talented! By no means do I endorse vandalizing private property, however, as for the "legit" murals around San Francisco ... they are really true gems of the city in their own special right. Thus, this weeks selfie is dedicated to those murals out there! This mural pictured is easily one of my favorites -Go Marvel! Yah-yuh! Good thing I didn't wake the homeless person sleeping on the sidewalk just outside frame.
I've got an odd dream of wanting to be a super hero [4/52] and I guess I finally acted on it. Now I am chillin' with some of my new home fries from the Justice League! :) As for my super power ... I can ... uh. Oh! I can flash people. Yes.
...With strobes, filters, and radio triggers!
This weeks weather has been super bipolar! Hot and warm this weekend, to pouring cats and dogs yesterday (Tuesday!). Good ol' San Francisco, how I love you so! According to the weather man though, this weekend is supposed to hot hot HOT!

I love it every year when these poppies bloom all over. It signals that summer and warm weather are here. Down the street from me there is a 9 foot bush of these. So glad I shot them as a heat wave last week has left them all wilting.

For Macro Monday's theme: "Backwards"
It's been five months since I've done a Macro Monday! This is really weird ... but the idea came to me in the middle of the night. It isn't particularly original, I'm sure someone already thought of it but I didn't even peek into the group yet.

(Update: The more I see this image, the less I seem to like it and I don't know why. But that's how experiments are I guess..some you like, some you don't. Hopefully I will be more pleased with my next one)
Well, this is an experiment, so guys please go easy on me!
So many Fridays have passed and I kept looking at picture of many of my contacts posting fences on a Friday and I kept thinking of doing it many times in the past!
I went around trying to find fences in my town and I was not very successful in finding the one of my liking. Finally yesterday I decided to create my own fence and came up with this. What you see are pencils being placed on a table with the Gulmohar trees at the back. I really have absolutely no idea what to feel about this fence or the image but I liked the bokeh created by the trees in the background and decided to post this.
This is of course another one of my weird experiments and I can't bring myself to have any opinion about it. So you guys let me know. HFF!
I'm going to continue my experiments through the weekend! Have a happy weekend everybody.

We've had leaf monkeys, red-bellied tamarins, ladybirds and greenfly so far this week, so i thought it was about time for another landscape. This is the view looking out towards the needles from up on Headon Warrren, i'm very lucky to live about 15 minutes walk from here, i should try and find the time to get up there more often, but of course time is the one thing we're always short of.

Maya Ruins of TULUM
Yucatan Peninsula, Quintana Roo, Mexico
Detail of the carved image of CHAAC the Maya Rain God.
With his lightning axe, Chaac strikes the clouds and produces thunder and rain.
The Temple of the Frescoes is one of the most famous of the buildings of the Tulum ruins. Used as a solar observatory, the stucco interior was painted with distinctly Maya images, some of which are still visible today. The 13th century paintings featured the Maya deities of Chaac (the rain god) and Ixchel (the goddess of weaving, women, the moon and medicine). Tourists can no longer view the frescoes and with good reason. These priceless pieces of history were vandalized with graffiti in the past!
Although, the structures present at Tulum are less impressive than those of other sites in the Yucatan such as Chichen Itza, the ocean-front location makes this one of the most beautiful. The site is also unique among Maya cities in the fortress-style walls that surround it (only 1 other Maya city is known to have been built with walls) as well as the coastal location.

A few times a year the rising moon aligns itself up the right way to cause a rainbow to appear at the base of Yosemite falls. This was my reason for my trip to the park at this time this year. The amazing part was that you could somewhat see the moonbow with the naked eye.
Thanks to a huge spring runoff, the mists at the bottom of the falls was huge, and so therefore was the moonbow.

Emerald Lake is one of the most admired destinations in Yoho National Park, with an unmatched diversity of both activities and landscapes suited to the enthusiastic traveler.
The hike around the lake, clocking in at about an hour, is one of the least strenuous but most rewarding in the park. An incredible breadth of geological features can be viewed from the lake, including the world-famous Burgess Shale fossil beds, the Michael glacier, and an avalanche slope carpeted by meadows where moose often graze.

The Val d’Orcia, or Valdorcia, is a region of Tuscany, central Italy, which extends from the hills south of Siena to Monte Amiata. It is characterised by gentle, carefully cultivated hills occasionally broken by gullies and by picturesque towns and villages such as Pienza (rebuilt as an “ideal town” in the 15th century under the patronage of Pope Pius II), Radicofani (home to the notorious brigand-hero Ghino di Tacco) and Montalcino (the Brunello di Montalcino is counted among the most prestigious of Italian wines). It is a landscape which has become familiar through its depiction in works of art from the Renaissance painting to the modern photograph.
In 2004 the Val d’Orcia was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites under these criteria:
* Criterion (iv): The Val d’Orcia is an exceptional reflection of the way the landscape was re-written in Renaissance times to reflect the ideals of good governance and to create an aesthetically pleasing pictures.
* Criterion (vi): The landscape of the Val d’Orcia was celebrated by painters from the Scuola Senese, which flourished during the Renaissance. Images of the Val d’Orcia, and particularly depictions of landscapes where people are depicted as living in harmony with nature, have come to be seen as icons of the Renaissance and have profoundly influenced the development of landscape thinking.
