Woody Is Chillin..

Yesterday was a lovely day for a hike to Heart Lake, our first trip since the advent of Covid19. We have all been held captive by this awful disease that has plagued the earth for the past 6 months.

We thought for fun we would bring Woody along with us and take some shots of him enjoying this beautiful summer day. Here he is relaxing halfway through the hike.

Taken from my Sunroom in Toronto yesterday looking west towards Mississauga, Ontario.

Thanks for visiting, much appreciated.

This scene was shot alongside Interstate 5 in Central California, with yesterdays energy depicted by a lone windmill, replaced in current times by the high tension power lines mapping the landscape in the background.

I took an early morning wander along the seafront at Southwold and saw this fine looking sandcastle left over from the day before.

says the Teacher.

“Utterly meaningless!

Everything is meaningless.”

Despite having a flat tyre I had a good day yesterday. An hour or so making Triptychs, only the second time i'd used Photoshop :)) Then s slow cycle to see the bees. Actually too slow as my back tyre was virtually flat, that explains my aching thighs over the last few days . Then a mint tea and some air for my tyre from Paul, digging out horse bones from the sea, finding I'd picked up a swarm of bees and a great cycle back up the estuary with the freshening wind at my back. Finally a fantastic offer of a strawberry cream scone freshly made by the children next door, and games of I spy as we watched the sun start it's slow descent. A fantastic FaceTime with Maura and a perfect lockdown day. Yesterday Man is by Robert Wyatt on my playlist.

I mentioned yesterday that these Infra Red shots are really about the key concepts of composition and light and shade. The surreal effect of IR, especially on living things is dream-like. But the fundamentals of composition become even more important when the image is taken in a point and shoot low resolution sensor camera. As it was in the early days of photography, you need to get the composition right in-camera, and avoid being overawed by the IR effects.

You'll never see a photograph like this blown up to poster size (small post card might be the best size at this resolution), but that doesn't mean it can't still be an interesting shot. One day I'll try this same angle with my pinhole camera. It'll look like something out of the 1840s. I'll have to set up my dark room first.

I spotted this Viceroy caterpillar in a tree yesterday while 3 of us were out hunting clubtails again. Hadn't seen a Viceroy cat in awhile. Not sure of the tree - they use several as their host plants. The adult Viceroys spend most of their time in the open wetlands.

See recent shot of a Viceroy - similar to a Monarch in appearance.

Yesterday in Dundee.
