Majestic adults have blackish-brown body with white head and tail. Several stages of immature plumages aren't quite as majestic, from fully dark brown to messy and mottled with large patches of white. Look especially for white mottling on the belly on immatures. Scavenges and hunts near bodies of water. Soars with wings flat, like a large, dark plank. Head appears large in flight; projects far in front of wings. Surprisingly weak-sounding vocalization is a series of high-pitched whistles. (eBird)

This beautiful pair of eagles watched us as we left Tofino for our pelagic bird watching trip. They were on a small island fairly near to shore. To their left, you can see a couple of Ochre Seastars, which indicates that this rock is underwater at least some part of each day.

I saw this Eastern Bluebird in the field on the top of a Common Mullein. There was a tree with yellow leaves in the distance that I wanted for a background. Thankfully, this bird was patient and let me walk up the hill for the shot but not without an exasperated expression.

Fortunately this seagull is extremely unlikely to face the plight of Icarus’ end by flying too close to the sun? She/he did however enjoy basking in the late afternoon sun of Maytime. Captured here taking off from our veranda after a handsome meal of seeds and suet balls.

When worries overwhelm you and you fade away . . . .

The feeling that you're losing yourself, losing everything that means anything to you. . . . . .

You're crying and desperate and there's nothing left no matter how hard you try . . . .

Hope is lost and you realize that everything you've ever done is meaningless. . . . . .

Do you know this feeling?

Late afternoon sky in my Aberdeenshire village - from my doorstep! I love our winter light and big skies. I haven’t cropped the roofs and lamppost as I quite like the silhouettes.

The marbles are approx. 1 cm in size.

HMM!

While strolling through the long and dark passages, I turn around and I was enchanted by this view. Like I got lost in the dark distance. Due to the horrible things happend there, this felt like magic.

Fort Eben-Emael is an inactive Belgian fortress located between Liège and Maastricht, on the Belgian-Dutch border, outside the village of Ében-Émael. It was designed to defend Belgium from a German attack across the narrow belt of Dutch territory in the region. Constructed in 1931–1935, it was reputed to be impregnable and at the time, the largest in the world. The fort was neutralized by glider-borne German troops (85 men) on 10 May 1940 during the WW2. The action cleared the way for German ground forces to enter Belgium, unhindered by fire from Eben-Emael. Still the property of the Belgian Army, the fort has been preserved.

These guys were part of a gang around Polperro, they were proper menaces. So many muggings going on, we witnessed so many from our window. We watched a guy walk out of a fish shop with fish and chips wrapped up, he was instantly mugged and the food was demolished in seconds by these vicious gangsters. The ring leader was an evil bold mobster named Steven, by the locals. We had encounters with him a few times, although we were wary and weren't mugged! I took shots of him (with his son) just in case the cops need any wanted photos! 😂😂

Happy Fence Friday!

A woman playing with pigeons.

Yesterday we had very nice fog. So I went out in the woods, not in full camouflage dress, but quite. Army green wellies and parka. I didn't go far into the forest. When I came out through the "hollow way" I saw three hunters at the end. In their orange hunting clothes, with guns and dogs. I hurried a bit. And I took this shot from the hip, because I didn't want them to see I took it.

Bom dia! We see you! Fuji is great!

And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. Genesis 9:15-16❤️
