These were test folds made with test paper... but then I thought they turned out good enough and I didn't feel like refolding them :)

Snoopy had a ball in the wrapping paper last night! He was sleeping in it when we went to bed last night.

I made it my goal this year to use ALL Hello Kitty wrapping supplies and decorations-- added onto the dessert theme I have every year. ^__~ I have Hello Kitty wrapping paper (THREE different designs!), Hello Kitty bags, Hello Kitty gift tags, Hello Kitty stickers, Hello Kitty cards... and so much more! Needless to say, I've had an extremely kawaii season. Our tree is jam packed with Hello Kitty pressies under it. I'm happy to be able to share the cute kitty spirit with all my friends and family members. This will most likely be an annual theme for me, so be prepared for extra Hello Kitty-ness in coming years.

On top of the Hello Kitty wrapping supplies, Shawn came home with a surprise for me the other day: a Hello Kitty stocking! It's hanging in the back of this display I set up for the photo. I was extra excited to see that he picked out a stocking that had a candy bow on her. ^u^ It's so fitting for the Happily Candied household.

My mom placed yet another huge Sanrio order the other day and surprised me with the adorable Sanrio Christmas tree card in the center of the photo. Not only is it a 3D card, but its the lights on it light up and it plays music when a button is pressed. *dies from cuteness* (I usually don't like cards that are musical, but this one is my exception!)

The Hello Kitty ornament was a present from my childhood best friend and her mom a few years ago. They saw my Hello Kitty engagement ring and gave me a bunch of really awesome Hello Kitty gifts as a way of congratulating me. It was really touched by the gesture.

Pinkachu was ecstatic to find out I was celebrating the holidays with her forever Hello Kitty-ness. She had to jump into the photo to show her appreciation and approval!

Brady got to open presents on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. He makes a huge mess with the wrapping paper.

I found myself in receipt of a lovely Easter gift today wrapped in gorgeous paper. I couldn't resist doing a 'reflection in a spoon' shot as I have been meaning to do one of these with a butterfly for a long time but couldn't find one that I really liked. Shame the paper had been used and so shows some wear and tear but I do like the butterfly bokeh that I got.

The things I do for a photograph....

Bought that paper you see in the background (it's a PS layer).

Borrrowed friend's hair curling thingummy.

Curled hair, even though not going out anywhere.

Took this photo with a big hangover.

Put the Dragonfly necklace on because I know one of my contacts is mad about them.

Edited this for Flickr Group Roulette (with a big hangover) and layer it up. (scroll down to see the two layers that made this image)

We wrapped everything inside the cubicle and are ready to wrap the outside.

A Christmas present from my kids.

Following year's 'London Snow' design, it's great to see London making a comeback in the Paperchase range of Christmas wrap this year.

I just revamped my entire scrapbook/guest room. I painted some old bookcases black. I rearranged furniture, painted my bulletin board, and covered it in damask felt wrapping paper. I also got a metal ruler, attached it to my wall with double sided tape and stuck some magnetic storage tins on it.

If you are wrapping presents, a cat is always willing to help....

Yo, female dogs. I'm a wrapper! :P

Wrapping paper would you believe :)

or, a tribute to dyxie. day 359 of 365.

For almost as long as I've known her, I've wanted to do a tribute shot to becky, aka dyxie. You can see her fun and quirky point of view in all of her photos, and she's not afraid to share who she really is. I admire her quite a bit, and definitely wanted to try a dyxie signature shot before the end of my 365 project.

so, here i am, not in a bathtub, and I don't have natural light or an awesome red phone, but I do have that wrapping paper I was obsessed with finding, and I'm at least near the bathtub. :) becky, you are the best!

Also, as of today (Sunday!), I have 4 days left of my project. You might have noticed me uploading photos not numbered in order - that is because there were about 30 that for whatever reason I hadn't uploaded on the day they were taken, and I was backlogged. so yeah. Only 4 more backlogged shots left to upload, and 4 new ones to take! :) yay!

This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a monthly challenge called "Freestyle On The Fifth". A different theme chosen by a member of the group each month, and the image is to be posted on the 5th of the month.

This month the theme, "bird" was chosen by Beverley (www.flickr.com/photos/137349496@N06/).

This is my first invitation to participate in "Freestyle On The Fifth", so I would just like to thank the FFF+ Group for allowing me to add my photos to the pool.

This second entry was inspired by my umbrella and parasol collection. I have a large collection of brollies, antique and new, including a few with hooked bird handles.

The one on the right is the oldest in my collection. It is an 1820s silk parasol. It is French, and when opened, the circumfrence of the silk shade is remarkably small by today's standards, as was the fashion then. The handle of pear wood is carved into an elegant duck's head. It's beak is made of copper, and its eyes are made of drops of amber. It was a gift to me from a very dear friend who was also an antique dealer.

The middle one is a "Paragon" umbrella made by S. Fox and Company in England. It an exuberant example of roaring 20s fun! This umbrella was made in the era when plastic was a new and expensive material. The handle is wood, but the head, also a duck, is made of Bakelite. Bakelite was the first plastic made from synthetic components. It was developed by the Belgian-American chemist Leo Baekeland in Yonkers, New York in 1907. This umbrella comes with its original tassel around its handle and its original sheath. S. Fox and Company was established in 1868 and still manufacture umbrellas in England to this day. This umbrella was also a gift to me from another dear friend who was also an antique dealer.

The umbrella on the left is a Mary Poppins umbrella. Whoever has seen either the 1974 Walt Disney film starring Julie Andrews, or the 2018 Mary Poppins Returns film starring Emily Blunt will recognise this snappy parrot brolly who talks back and scolds Mary Poppins. This umbrella has a hand painted wooden handle and was brought back for me from New York by friends who saw the Broadway musical of Mary Poppins in 2007.

The avian themed paper they rest against is luxury paper that I bought from Borders bookshop when they were closing down. I always felt the paper was too pretty to use and would come in handy some day!

So here we have my "Gaggle of Brollies" entry.

For Smile on Saturday

Theme: Selfmade Smiley

SCOUT: "Hullo Paddy! Happy birthday to you!"

PADDY: "Thank you very much Scout."

SCOUT: "Goodness Paddy, what is that?"

PADDY: "It's a birthday card and a birthday gift for me from a very special friend."

SCOUT: "Goodness! How lucky you are Paddy! Look, even the wrapping is especially chosen for you! How terribly thoughtful and kind."

PADDY: "Yes it is! This special friend has great attention to detail, and a very kind and generous heart!"

PADDY: "Hullo everyone! Do you know what? Bears have two birthdays. Do you know what else? Today is one of my birthdays! And do you know what else? Today is my Daddy's birthday too! Isn't that a wonderful coincidence!"

My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.

He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.

Scout is a recent addition to our little family. He was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.

Lots of sliding to get to this weird and eerie place! HSS!

Reflecting spoons are altogether too much fun! You're going to see still more of them, my friends, though I'm beginning to slow down! Thanks so much for your patience and enthusiasm!

This is an inversion! I love the way shadows in the original become light sources in the inversion!

I had some wasted ceiling space in a closet as well as a need to organize wrapping paper, so I put together this storage solution. It's only 4 anchors and screws and some galvanized wire. Before this, I had tried 3M decorating clips and thread, but it wasn't strong enough to hold this much weight. Step back. See this set.

PERFECTLY AGED

Took some wine, hors d'oeuvres and paper plates to a friends in celebration of being together for the first time in over a year

and a half!

Just like old times, but still with a bit of trepidation, even though they were both vaccinated. Still so much unknown.

Be safe, everyone.

New product at my shop! I've made a paper wreath out of old wrapping paper! Great to decorate your home during the holidays!

playing with rectangles...

We even used HP wrapping paper for gifts under the tree. Thank goodness the gold paper her dad used blended in nicely.

On a side note: this is why we usually travel at Christmas....we go a bit overboard if we buy gifts for each other. When we do travel, I always make sure Lindsey has something small to open on Christmas morning, but otherwise we forgo the gifts and just experience the moments.
