PADDY: "Look Scout! Golden birthday candles, and..." *Gasps and puts paw to mouth.* "Dark chocolate teddy bear lollipops!"

SCOUT: "Hoorah Paddy! Happy birthday! Grumbly tummy Paddy! Grumbly tummy Daddy!" *Rubs tummy even more vigorously.*

PADDY: "Hullo everyone! Do you know what? Bears have two birthdays. Do you know what else? Today is one of my birthdays! And do you know what else? Today is my Daddy's birthday too! Isn't that a wonderful coincidence!"

My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.

He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.

Scout is a recent addition to our little family. He was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.

Tiny slices of 12x18" kraft paper. Kinda successful.

I was wrapping gifts the other afternoon and went to get some tissue paper and tags from the bag I'd stored my wrapping in, and guess who had made himself at home in the bag?

Oh well, I guess that people will just have to deal with a little wrinkled tissue in their gifts......and a few Vinny hairs! 8-)

My friend in paper and fabric, Casey Starks - aka @vitaminimodern - enjoys dachshunds - especially her pup Baci who had major (alas, expensive) surgery recently - as well as MINI Coopers and mid-century modern design. She'll be surprised that I'm posting this, but I wanted to give her my support by saying that the beautifully made items she creates for her shop, Vitamini Modern, reflect all three of these loves in stylish ways.

basically describes my life right now~

I wrapped her in wrapping paper. She even has shoes. Be jealous :]

Then I made her sit there for an hour. She wasn't happy.

But I'm so grateful for the people who help me keep my head up.

You all know who you are

This is a basic Christmas for most people, I feel like.

Everyone's all stressed out and paranoid.

You lose sleep. (unless you're like me and sleep every chance you get because you're lazy)

But anyways, I'm just happy that I get to spend Christmas with my family.

This is my first Christmas as a vegetarian, so no turkey or anything.

Wooh for fake chicken that gets cooked separately for me :]

I know this picture is late. I didn't really have time to do it this weekend.

And I wasn't up to it.

Other things going on~

Plus I planned on doing it with my sister, but she's taller and I didn't want to use that much wrapping paper. Also, she's been in the past couple of pictures.

She'll probably be in this weekend's photo though.

five things i want for christmas :]

1) a new camera. we all know that's not going to happen though ;]

2) lego harry potter years 5-7. don't judge. i'm obsessed with legos.

3) anything on my photography wish list

4) clothes from urban outfitters

5) anything harry potter related. preferably my own set of movies in a combo pack. but that also wont happen. lol.

My first attempt at oil and water as with the previous post I had wrote that I purchased the nikkor 105mm macro lens and was playing around with it. I need to get a more stable setup as this one I had setup on my card table which if I pushed the shutter button would move my tripod and the table so it may not be to sharp and clear. I'm looking forward to practicing more and hope to nail this

SCOUT: "These ribbons are so tricky!" *Pulls on ribbons with paws.*

PADDY and COUSIN PADDINGTON: "Pull Scout! Pull! It's your birthday Hoorah!" *Clap paws enthusiastically.*

Cousin Paddington is a recent visitor to our family. Travelling all the way from London, he was caught in transit thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic, so it looks like he is stopping with us for a while. The more I look into his happy, smiling face, the more attached I am becoming to him.

i heart wrapped up presents. these were for me! {thank you! the insides were lovely too!}

This is the wrapping paper that wrapped a package of very special green tea from Ippo-Do tea shop in Kyoto, Japan. I received the paper (and the delicious tea) from my flickr friend, ya ma, in Japan. The Chinese writing on the wrapping paper is the "Tea Sutra", "chakyo" or maybe it is "ocha no kyo" (not sure). 茶の経 ?????

The first wedding present I ever wrap.

Vivitar 285 zoomed to 75mm, set to 1/16 and aimed roughly at the ribbon (check the shadow)

Canon 550ex at 17mm and set to 1/16 or 1/32 beneath the gift, propping the top right corner slightly.

During her birthday party, a gleeful little girl opens a box containing a Minnie Mouse doll (probably a Gund from the late 1940s). Her mom and dad are eagerly watching their daughter, perhaps a little relieved that she seems to like her present so much. Another little girl--in the background next to the window--is wide-eyed with excitement.

One of the boys in the photo is excited about the doll, too, and he appears to be frantically reaching up to grab it away from the birthday girl. The other boy on the left, however, is glumly contemplating the proceedings, as if he's disappointed that he didn't get something that nice.

In a second photo, the glum boy is looking down at something else while the birthday girl and her girlfriends inspect the new doll. The grabber is almost out of the picture on the extreme right--perhaps the dad pulled him aside after he attempted to snatch the doll away.

The third photo shows the birthday girl smiling proudly as she poses with her new Minnie Mouse doll.

Lovely vintage wrapping paper. I brightened the whites to bring out the detail. Detail of a scrap of vintage paper I purchased in a Christmas ephemera lot late last year on eBay.

This scrap of nifty candy cane paper is my favorite, but the piece is only about a foot square.

... how come it sounds so familiar...?

My son Mike sent a box filled with gifts and lots of wonderful crinkly wrapping paper. Amber enjoyed it so much! Thanks Mike!!

At .57 you will see one of the areas on Ambers that is a prime spot for itching and biting. She usually has to wear the cone all the time but I do give her a few time outs for eating and grooming but I watch carefully because she will start scratching and biting if my attention is elsewhere.

out of time so iPhone shot this week...for me again Monday theme: Eve, Eve: all wrapped up

I absolutely love these images. Love them.
