We shot this on the first day of the year, at the same time "After the Party" was shot. It's taken me a while to figure out what to do with the image. It's a good example of what happens when you don't have a clear concept in mind. In such a case, it's much harder to create an image with a clear message and story if I don't have a good idea of the outcome I want when I'm shooting. Still, it was too pretty not to use, and I hoped to at least capture and pass on some of the winter bleakness that I felt when editing this photo.

A canopy of trees which in the summer, will provide shade from the sun. But in winter make a tangled web of branches against the backdrop of the sky.

The after-math of the big snowstorm we got yesterday/last night. Here at our house we got about 10 inches of wet, heavy snow. I am so ready for spring now!

A single tree stands tall by the roadside in Niittykumpu, Espoo, Finland. Stripped bare for the winter, holding space between the traffic and the fields. Spring will come, but for now, the cold remains.

"Winter lovers, winter trees

Winter longing, falling free

Shielding what we need to see

A deep true love of this country"

This is a close up of the top of the bone tree next to my bone house. There is one more bone length on the trunk. I still don't have a photo of the bone house that I'm happy with.
